Zhenzhen expressed concern that his chosen song, "Collateral Love," was too difficult, suggesting he pick something that better suited his strengths. Frustrated by her constant comparisons and the implication that he was inferior to Yu Zirui, Baixu grew upset and angrily forced her out of the car.
Stranded, Zhenzhen attempted to hitchhike and was coincidentally picked up by Xu Zan, a former classmate of Baixu's. In the car, Xu Zan's behavior quickly turned inappropriate as he made unwanted advances. Just as the situation escalated, a concerned Zheng Baixu, who had turned back for Zhenzhen, arrived. He intervened, furiously beating Xu Zan for assaulting her. Back in Baixu's car, however, Zhenzhen faced his continued anger.
Despite her shaken state, Baixu scolded her for getting into a stranger's car before offering her a clean shirt. Feeling humiliated and unjustly blamed, she refused, prompting him to throw the shirt out the window. Their argument escalated, ending with her getting out of his car again. During a company meeting, concerns were raised about Baixu's ability to hit the high notes in his song.
The situation became more complicated when it was announced that the concert would only allow one act from their company. This sparked a heated argument between Vice Presidents Du Wanqing and Ma Lina. Yu Hong stepped in, proposing a compromise: Zheng Baixu and Yu Zirui would perform a duet. Though initially resistant, Baixu saw that his manager, Zhenzhen, had agreed to the arrangement and reluctantly complied.
Following the meeting, Yu Hong privately spoke with Zhenzhen, hoping that as both Baixu's manager and Zirui's friend, she could act as a mediator in the future. Zhenzhen confessed her decision was not only to help Zirui gain exposure but also to support Baixu, ensuring a smoother performance of his desired song. Meanwhile, Baixu, still in a foul mood, was urged by his sister, Fang Yiran, to come home for dinner.
Upon arriving, he discovered his father had invited Kexin and her father, hoping to arrange a marriage between them. Adding to his distress, his father also introduced his long-term partner, Teacher Guo, and asked for his acceptance of their relationship, which brought back painful memories of his deceased mother. Overwhelmed, Baixu harshly rejected both the matchmaking attempt and his father's request before storming out.
Later, Du Wanqing's father visited her home and admonished her husband, Chen Tianhao, to treat his daughter better. Chen Tianhao asserted he had done nothing wrong. Determined to ensure his daughter's happiness, Du's father then threatened Chen Tianhao, revealing he had evidence of past financial irregularities at Star Entertainment that he had helped conceal. He made it clear he would expose them and jeopardize the company's IPO if Du Wanqing wasn't happy, leaving Chen Tianhao visibly uneasy.
The next day, the head of publicity, Liu Yinan, showed his team a viral video about a woman searching for the owner of an expensive "love confession" shirt she had found. After Xia Yuan showed her the video, Yang Zhenzhen was stunned, suspecting the shirt was the one Zheng Baixu had thrown out of his car.
