His assistant urged him to hurry as Jiang Jin was already there, but Lin Xiangyuan remarked that Jiang Jin was "really free" and could wait, justifying his tardiness as "reasonable" given his work.
Jiang Fanlv, waiting with her father, Jiang Jin, grew impatient, asking why Lin Xiangyuan was so late and emphasizing that they shouldn't have to wait for him. When Lin Xiangyuan finally arrived, he was immediately surrounded by a barrage of reporters, eager to ask about the conference, his thoughts on Lei Yuzheng's imprisonment, and how he managed to bring in such significant investment.
Jiang Fanlv observed her fiancé with resentment, lamenting to her father that all the attention was on Lin Xiangyuan, despite Jiang Jin being the one who "steered Yutian." Lin Xiangyuan, however, publicly credited Jiang Jin, calling him his "teacher" and "leader" and stating that without Jiang Jin's crucial help at a critical moment, the press conference wouldn't have been possible. Jiang Jin, in turn, dismissed his own contribution, allowing Lin Xiangyuan to bask in the spotlight.
Lin Xiangyuan concluded his public statement by reiterating his gratitude, acknowledging that his success was entirely due to Jiang Jin's "help and support behind the scenes." Inside the detention center, Lei Yuzheng and the other inmates watched the entertainment center’s press conference on television. One prisoner recognized Lei Yuzheng as the former Yutian president, remarking, "Now he is in jail with us."
The cell leader mocked Lei Yuzheng, implying that his imprisonment had created an opportunity for Lin Xiangyuan and adding, "You can't blame others." When another inmate observed that Lei Yuzheng was wealthy, the cell leader continued to provoke him, suggesting he give an "interview" about his feelings and threatening to beat him now that he knew Lei Yuzheng was rich. As Lei Yuzheng, angered by the taunts, seemed ready to fight, Liu Siyang intervened, reminding him about the guards.
Moments later, Liu Siyang clutched his chest and collapsed, seemingly suffering a heart attack. Lei Yuzheng quickly sprang into action, calling for a doctor and instructing others to open windows for ventilation, confirming Liu Siyang's condition was "real." Meanwhile, at the hospital, Du Xiaosu and He Qunfei were by Lei Ting’s bedside.
He Qunfei expressed his reluctance to attend the Yutian press conference, citing his guilt over the misfortunes of the Lei family and his disgust with Lin Xiangyuan's triumphant demeanor. Suddenly, Du Xiaosu noticed a flicker of movement in Lei Ting's hand. Filled with joy, they immediately summoned a doctor, who confirmed that Lei Ting had finally regained consciousness.
During the press conference, as Lin Xiangyuan grandly introduced Jiang Jin as his mentor, Jiang Fanlv, observing Lin Xiangyuan's arrogant demeanor, confided to her father that she "regretted" their engagement. She suddenly felt an "upset stomach" and excused herself to the restroom, where she was heard vomiting by Xie Li, who had followed her.
After the conference concluded and Jiang Fanlv made an early exit, Lin Xiangyuan instructed Xie Li to "put the Entertainment Center project aside" and then, upon hearing about Jiang Fanlv's vomiting, ordered Xie Li to "keep an eye on her these days" and report "no matter what happens." Meanwhile, Lei Ting was discharged from the hospital.
The doctor warned Du Xiaosu and He Qunfei that due to his condition, Lei Ting would need constant supervision as he was "incapable now and can't express himself." True to the warning, Lei Ting was volatile and called strangers "bad guys," even attempting to strike He Qunfei with his stick.
He Qunfei blamed himself for the Lei family's hardships, but Du Xiaosu reassured him, explaining that Lei Ting's erratic behavior was a "sequela of a cerebral hemorrhage" and that he "has no idea what he is talking about." She encouraged He Qunfei to remain hopeful, asserting that they would care for Lei Ting until he fully recovered, believing he would "be fine one day." Back in the detention center, Liu Siyang returned to the cell.
Lei Yuzheng confronted him, asking if he had deliberately feigned illness to prevent Lei Yuzheng from being punished. Liu Siyang ambiguously replied that he would have been "gone" if not for Lei Yuzheng that day. He then revealed his past, stating he had "graduated from Lancaster University in the UK" and worked at "BlackRock in the UK," admitting he had grown "too arrogant."
He then drew a parallel between their situations, implying that Lei Yuzheng, "just like" him, had "taken all the responsibilities on your own" as the "chief trader in one of the fund management companies."
Meanwhile, Lin Xiangyuan, having heard of Lei Ting's discharge, decided to visit him, explaining to Xie Li that they "should come sooner or later" as Lei Ting "was the president of Yutian after all," and clarifying that his animosity was solely for Lei Yuzheng, not Lei Ting. They arrived at the Lei residence with gifts. Although Lei Ting was initially napping, he soon awoke. Lin Xiangyuan greeted him, asking if he remembered him.
Lei Ting, however, immediately branded them "Bad guys" and angrily tried to chase them away with his cane. Xie Li wondered aloud if Lei Ting was "really out of his mind," observing his intense hostility. Lin Xiangyuan attempted to placate Lei Ting by claiming to be "Lei Yuzheng's colleague," but this only agitated Lei Ting further. He demanded to know, "Where is Yuzheng? Bad guy. Give Yuzheng back to me! I'll kill you!"
Duan the butler quickly intervened, explaining Lei Ting's confused state and escorting Lin Xiangyuan and Xie Li out. As they left, Lin Xiangyuan told Xie Li not to "take offense at a patient," viewing the incident as "an apology I made to him." Reflecting on Lei Ting's confused state, Lin Xiangyuan, with Xie Li, declared that with "Lei Yuzheng in jail" and Lei Ting "so sick," Yutian would now "count on" him, effectively making him "the manager of Yutian."
Xie Li further reminded him that Jiang Jin, his future father-in-law, would "be on your side." Meanwhile, Jiang Fanlv received shocking news at the hospital: she was pregnant, already "two months" along. Disoriented, she immediately went to the detention center to visit Lei Yuzheng. Seeing him there, she was visibly distraught, admitting, "I just didn't expect that we would meet here."
She grew tearful, recalling their carefree childhood days, how he loved lemon soda, teased girls with caterpillars, and defended Zhenrong. Lei Yuzheng suggested it was "fate," but Jiang Fanlv disagreed, stating she used to believe she could make "fate submit," but had now realized that "fate will always give you a surprised shock." Xie Li delivered Jiang Fanlv's ultrasonography report to Lin Xiangyuan, who reacted with overwhelming joy upon confirming the pregnancy, exclaiming, "I can be a father!" Lin Xiangyuan claimed that even if Jiang Fanlv regretted their engagement, he only wished for her to find true love. Jiang Jin, perceiving that Jiang Fanlv's mind "won't settle" until they were married, encouraged Lin Xiangyuan to "hurry up with your marriage" and prepare, promising to speak with Jiang Fanlv himself. Meanwhile, back in the detention center, Lei Yuzheng refused to see Du Xiaosu, admitting he was afraid she would visit him.
Lei Yuzheng explained that if he saw her once, she would return, and he believed he had to "be cruel" to "be responsible for others" by pushing her away. Liu Siyang observed that Lei Yuzheng was "not cruel at all," concluding that he loved her "deeply." Separately, Shao Kaixuan returned from her convalescence abroad and was shocked to learn from her maid about the series of misfortunes that had befallen the Lei family.
At Lei Ting's home, Du Xiaosu was patiently coaxing him to take his medicine by rewarding him with cotton candy, which led Lei Ting to affectionately call her "Cotton candy, good guy." Duan the butler recounted Lin Xiangyuan's recent visit to Du Xiaosu, describing him as a "boss named Lin" who claimed to be "Yuzheng's colleague." Shao Kaixuan visited Lei Ting and was surprised to find Du Xiaosu already there.
Lei Ting, delighting in Du Xiaosu's presence, laughed happily and called her "Cotton candy." However, when Shao Kaixuan introduced herself, Lei Ting, in his confused state, did not recognize her, asking, "Who is Kaixuan?" Du Xiaosu gently explained that Shao Kaixuan was "a good friend." Witnessing Lei Ting's confusion saddened Shao Kaixuan. Du Xiaosu reassured her that it was merely a "sequela of a cerebral hemorrhage" and that he would eventually improve with proper care.
While Duan the butler took Lei Ting for a walk, Shao Kaixuan expressed her worry about how Lei Ting would react to Lei Yuzheng's imprisonment once he fully recovered. Du Xiaosu admitted she couldn't foresee that, choosing to take "one day at a time." Shao Kaixuan then thanked Du Xiaosu for "helping Yuzheng in this difficult time," to which Du Xiaosu replied it was her "responsibility" given Lei Yuzheng's past help.
Du Xiaosu then entrusted Shao Kaixuan with a photo of Lei Ting, asking her to deliver it to Lei Yuzheng during her next visit, explaining that while he was stubborn and didn't want pity, his father was "what he is most worried about" so he could serve his sentence with peace of mind. Meanwhile, Jiang Fanlv, despite a doctor's advice against it, arrived at the hospital determined to have an abortion.
Lin Xiangyuan, having tracked her, intercepted her outside the hospital. He tearfully pleaded with her to "keep the baby," stating that it was "ours after all" and "innocent," regardless of her feelings for him. He swore to her, promising not to "fight back or swear back" no matter how she treated him.
