Frontier. Yan Lin and his father had arrived at the border city under Lü Xian’s guidance. When asked about the next plan, Lü Xian calmly stated he would move into the General’s Manor and take over the Yan family army. Yan’s father felt it was inappropriate, as it would be disobeying the emperor’s order. However, Lü Xian presented an imperial decree authorizing them to take command. Though the decree was real, the contents were written by Xie Wei.

Yan’s father and Yan Lin were shocked, but Lü Xian assured them that as long as they could successfully rescue Shen Zhiyi, everything could be resolved. The Prince of Dayue murdered for amusement, a senseless tyrant. Shen Zhiyi was furious witnessing it all, helpless as he slaughtered Da Qian’s people. Yan Lin was thrilled to see Jiang Xuening again. Their reunion brought joy to both.

Yan Lin explained the current situation to Xie Wei, who believed that attacking recklessly would play into the enemy’s trap. Yan’s father was relieved to see Xie Wei and Jiang Xuening safe. Jiang Xuening noticed that Yan’s father and Xie Wei had something to discuss and took her leave. Yan Lin, now knowing Xie Wei’s true identity, acknowledged him as an elder brother. With both Yan Lin and his father present, Xie Wei had finally returned home.

He finally called Yan’s father “uncle,” and both were tearful. Xie Wei said the one who should atone was Duke Xue, was Prince Pingnan. Back then, Duke Xue had shot arrows at Xie Wei from the city wall without hesitation. Xie Wei abandoned his former name and adopted the name Xie Wei. With Yan family blood flowing in him, he lived not only for himself but also for the three hundred unjustly slain souls.

Xue Dingfei was in the capital when Prince Pingnan came knocking. Xiao Bao was seriously injured. Yan Lin took Jiang Xuening to eat, having already made friends with the locals. He asked if Jiang Xuening was with Zhang Zhe, and she remained silent. Yan Lin playfully presented her with flowers picked from the roadside, hoping to cheer her up. But even if it wasn’t Zhang Zhe, it wouldn’t be him either. After the wontons, Xie Wei had also prepared dinner.

Jiang Xuening, not wanting to upset him, forced herself to eat—but every dish on the table was sour. The Prince of Dayue invited Xie Wei for a meeting the next day—a clear trap, yet Xie Wei decided to go. Hearing Jiang Xuening hadn’t eaten out of worry, he made her peach blossom cakes. The taste was oddly familiar to Jiang Xuening, and she recalled having it long ago. Xie Wei was to meet the prince the next day.

Jiang Xuening grew angry at her own concern for him, but she trusted Xie Wei, believing he would safely bring Shen Zhiyi back. The next day, Xie Wei went to the meeting alone. He was well-versed in Dayue’s affairs and skillfully debated, grasping their psychology. Yet the Prince of Dayue, arrogant and fickle, had Xie Wei surrounded. He was colluding with Prince Pingnan, unaware that Xie Wei was prepared.

Yan’s father led troops in to rescue him, while Yan Lin’s appearance was deliberately exposed by Xie Wei. Meanwhile, Shen Zhiyi had secretly untied herself and escaped with Dao Qin’s help. The Prince of Dayue was quickly captured, and Yan Lin rounded up the Dayue soldiers. Xie Wei and the Yan father and son returned with Shen Zhiyi. She tearfully reunited with Jiang Xuening, who held in her hands the soil of her homeland and its former capital.

She welcomed Her Highness home. Duke Xue received a secret letter from Prince Pingnan revealing Xie Wei’s true identity. Though he was Xie Wei’s biological father, he refused to allow Xie Wei to return to the capital.
