Glory of Special Forces Episode 38 Recap
> Glory of Special Forces Recap
Yan Poyue deliberately exposed himself to enemy fire, acting as bait to locate the drug traffickers' mortar base. He called out a bearing of "201" and a shooting angle of "1380", then ordered "Shoot!" His precision with the grenade launcher, even without a tripod, stunned the enemy. " This is impossible," one enemy exclaimed, adding that no one could run so fast.
Yan Poyue quickly moved to the enemy position, launching more grenades to disrupt their operations, but also came under heavy artillery fire. Meanwhile, the tracking device used by their spy activated on another rural road. Upon receiving the report, Qin Feng immediately instructed Lv Tu to gather Squad Seven and head to the marked location. Elsewhere, Cao Ben worked frantically to revive Bai Long, who had been buried.
Performing both artificial respiration and chest compressions, Cao Ben was immensely relieved when Bai Long finally regained consciousness, expressing how much he had scared him. However, the victory came at a heavy cost. The enemy mortar base had been destroyed by Yan Poyue, but he had not returned. Worse, Yue Kong had tragically died under enemy fire. Guo Xiaoxiao, heartbroken, tearfully apologized for the loss. Cao Ben, as their captain, was overwhelmed with grief.
He ordered Mu Qing to tend to the wounded while he, Guo Xiaoxiao, and Xu Yang would pursue the retreating enemies. He declared that they must not let the enemies exit China's border. Despite his own simple bandaging, Xiao Yun Jie insisted he could still fight and joined the pursuit, stating, "I am your reinforcement!" As they advanced, Guo Xiaoxiao spotted a familiar special symbol on one of the enemy combatants – it was Xiao Fei. She was momentarily stunned.
During the exchange of fire, Xiao Fei tried to convince Lai that General Xing was using them as cannon fodder, warning against directly confronting the Chinese People's Armed Police. He urged Lai to retreat, emphasizing that surviving to spend money was more important than dying. With intense determination, Cao Ben proposed a "win-win" strategy to Xiao Yun Jie: Xiao Yun Jie would be responsible for long-range shooting while three others provided cover.
Cao Ben himself held a machine gun steady for Xiao Yun Jie to get a more accurate shot, despite bleeding from his ears. He was determined not to let the drug traffickers escape, ignoring his teammates' pleas to stop, his face covered in dust and blood, as if numb. He simply kept repeating, "Shoot them! Hurry! They'll run away if we don't shoot them now!"
When the battle ended, Xiao Yun Jie finally relaxed his grip on his weapon, but Cao Ben remained frozen, still clutching his gun, his eyes fixed on the horizon, his teammates trying to calm him down. Among the severe casualties on the drug traffickers' side, only Xiao Fei and Lai remained, fleeing in haste. They soon discovered an unconscious Yan Poyue. Xiao Fei immediately stopped Lai, arguing, "He's a Chinese soldier. He's more valuable alive than dead."
He convinced Lai to bring Yan Poyue back to give General Xing an explanation, especially after so many of their own men had died. Back at base, Cao Ben was rushed to surgery, suffering from a concussion, internal organ damage, and ruptured eardrums. Doctors informed the team that while his life was out of danger, his hearing might never recover. Meanwhile, the team realized the "drugs" they had intercepted were merely flour.
This wasn't a drug shipment; it was a deliberate trap set to ambush them. Guo Xiaoxiao, still distraught over Yue Kong's sacrifice and clinging to her rifle, anxiously searched for Yan Poyue, but he was nowhere to be found. She privately reported to Qin Feng about the spy, revealing that she recognized him from the "Cheetah's selection" where he and Yan Poyue were from the same unit, and Qin Feng himself had eliminated him in the final round.
Qin Feng was shocked to learn it was Xiao Fei, whose excellent military record he knew well, but whom he had disqualified for harming a comrade to win. Guo Xiaoxiao voiced her growing suspicions, questioning if Xiao Fei was still on their side, especially since the intel proved to be a trap and he had actively fired at them during the recent engagement. She worried about Yan Poyue's fate if he fell into Xiao Fei's hands.
Despite Yan Poyue's disappearance, the operation was deemed a success, severely crippling the drug trafficking organizations and preventing large-scale cross-border operations for the foreseeable future. Qin Feng informed Deputy Director Ding about Yan Poyue's disappearance, and Ding promised to contact their internal contacts for a full rescue operation if he had been captured. Meanwhile, back at his compound, General Xing was furious about the loss of his men, including Nan Da, and the failure of the operation.
Xiao Fei initially confronted General Xing, accusing him of using them as cannon fodder. General Xing, in turn, angrily demanded to know how Xiao Fei and Lai survived the operation, given so many of his men had died. Xiao Fei explained they survived by taking a Chinese soldier hostage, preventing the police from firing. He proudly presented the captured Yan Poyue. Yan Poyue immediately recognized Xiao Fei but remained silent.
General Xing, suspecting a spy among his ranks due to their predictable routes, aimed his gun at Xiao Fei, demanding Yan Poyue help him identify the mole. To deflect suspicion, Xiao Fei immediately turned on Yan Poyue, insulting him and accusing him of dragging him down with him even at death's door. Hearing Yan Poyue's name, General Xing became excited, recognizing it from a previous encounter on a rainy night involving a radio.
Xiao Fei admitted knowing Yan Poyue, confirming he was a former Chinese People's Armed Police officer from the same unit. He spun a tale of jealousy, claiming Yan Poyue constantly sabotaged him, took his credit, and even cost him his girlfriend and a spot in the Cheetah commando, making him a mercenary who only cares about money. General Xing, still unconvinced, ordered Xiao Fei to kill Yan Poyue.
Xiao Fei theatrically described how he would torture Yan Poyue before killing him, but Yan Poyue defiantly put his head against the gun barrel, calling Xiao Fei a "deserter" and urging him to "Do it!" Just as Xiao Fei hesitated, a subordinate intervened, reminding General Xing that a Chinese soldier's life was valuable, more so than their mercenaries, and could be used as leverage for negotiations with the Chinese government.
Xiao Fei's act of saving Lai on the battlefield earned him Lai's temporary trust. Yan Poyue was then confined in a water prison. General Xing brought him some milk, stating it was "produced in China" and that he'd only give him enough to "ensure your survival while making sure that you won't have enough energy to escape."
Yan Poyue defiantly stated that his life was dedicated to "arrest drug traffickers like you guys," and that he only knew he was a Chinese soldier and General Xing was a drug trafficker. General Xing revealed his own parents were drug traffickers, explaining his life's path and how he had to make the most of his "wretched life."
He hoped Yan Poyue would "cherish his good life" and cooperate by speaking on camera about their difficult lives to gain international attention. Yan Poyue remained defiant. General Xing mentioned that special forces undergo torture training but warned that real torture was beyond imagination, then announced no milk for tomorrow. Later, Xiao Fei secretly acquired a dagger and submerged himself in the water to rescue Yan Poyue, promising to get him out of there.
