Glory of Special Forces Episode 33 Recap
> Glory of Special Forces Recap
Yan Poyue persisted in fighting, believing the drill was still ongoing and that any announcements were merely a trap. Recognizing his stubbornness, Liu Regiment Commander realized only one person might be able to bring Yan Poyue back: Ai Qianxue. She was urgently called to the drill base and went into the forest with a megaphone, repeatedly calling for Yan Poyue.
Finally, he emerged, covered in mud, holding a knife in his left hand and a gun in his right, his voice hoarse. Yan Poyue cautiously asked why she was there, explaining he was still in combat, believing the war was ongoing and that all calls were traps since they hadn't reached the stipulated kill ratio. Ai Qianxue slowly advanced, assuring him the drill had ended and the Cheetah Commando had won.
Hearing this, Yan Poyue's defenses crumbled, and his legs gave out beneath him. He confessed that he initially just wanted to prove himself, but after losing all his comrades, the fight became an obsession, a test of how long he could last alone using various schemes. He then became afraid that if he were truly the enemy, all the eliminated Blue Team soldiers would be dead.
He wanted his persistence to show everyone how to defend themselves to prevent losses in a real battle. Ai Qianxue clarified that this responsibility belonged to the entire armed police force, not just him. Upon hearing the news of the drill's end again, Yan Poyue finally fainted from exhaustion. Back at the base, Yan Poyue was greeted with salutes from everyone, a testament to his unwavering determination.
Ai Qianxue expressed her joy, acknowledging that he had not been disheartened or given up, but had carved out his own path through sheer effort and persistence. The planned celebratory dinner ended up being just Yan Poyue, Xiao Yun Jie, Lu Xiao Tian, and Guo Kui, as the Blue Team members were too frustrated to join. During the meal, Yan Poyue inquired about Fan Jin, learning that Fan Jin had retired about half a year prior.
Lu Xiao Tian also announced his impending military discharge, promising a big farewell feast for his friends. Zhou Zijian also came, and being a vain and image-conscious person, he always liked to compete with Yan Poyue, who was stronger than him in every aspect. He noted that such fair competition could only happen in the military, and they would meet again.
Yan Poyue and Xiao Yunjie stood up and had a drink with him, agreeing to wait for him in Cheetah. Liu Regiment Commander praised Yan Poyue's exceptional performance in the drill to Qin Feng, but Qin Feng was less impressed, highlighting Yan Poyue’s strong individual heroism. While admitting Yan Poyue was good "iron," he hoped he would become "good steel," and purposefully withheld praise, even as everyone else hailed Yan Poyue as a hero.
Later that night, Yan Poyue was found wandering, looking for Ai Qianxue. Liu Regiment Commander informed him that Ai Qianxue had been urgently summoned to the base specifically for him and had already returned to her unit now that he was safe. Yan Poyue felt guilty, explaining his struggle to believe it was just a drill, constantly reminding himself that they were real enemies, and still feeling disoriented.
Liu Regiment Commander shared his own past period of confusion and advised Yan Poyue that the most important thing is not the choice itself, but the perseverance to keep walking one's chosen path, which allows for correction and adjustment. He emphasized that hesitation only breeds fear, and by trusting himself and persisting, Yan Poyue would one day achieve his ideals. Back in Cheetah, Qin Feng confronted Yan Poyue for not attending psychological counseling.
Yan Poyue saw no need for it, but Qin Feng angrily asserted that Yan Poyue wasn't cooperating with his comrades but rather forcing them to cooperate with him to fulfill his personal heroism and achieve his goals. Qin Feng acknowledged Yan Poyue's prowess in solo combat, but noted that he became constrained when working in a team, viewing comrades as mere tools for success.
Qin Feng worried that Yan Poyue's innate arrogance and confidence, fueled by constant success since joining the military, would eventually endanger his comrades. He ominously stated that behind Yan Poyue's victories, he saw the blood of his comrades, and the more victories he accumulated, the more blood would be shed in the future.
Frustrated by Yan Poyue's lack of understanding, Qin Feng explained that this issue was "unsolvable" until Yan Poyue experienced failure, and therefore, he couldn't allow Yan Poyue onto a real battlefield. Despite being in Cheetah, Qin Feng declared that as long as he was in command, Yan Poyue would remain on the training ground. To compel him to reflect, Qin Feng suspended Yan Poyue from training for a week.
Meanwhile, Xing Tian met with "Mr. Zhang," who was actually a woman. Xing Tian accused Zhang's son of encroaching on his market, violating the old agreement between Xing Tian's father and the previous Mr. Zhang that divided the border and mainland markets. Zhang offered one million dollars as compensation, but Xing Tian refused, demanding she relinquish her market, revealing he had abducted her son. A tense standoff ensued, with both sides having hidden snipers.
Xing Tian revealed Zhang's son tied to a tree on Mount Niutou, seemingly aimed at by his own sniper. Zhang's sniper, Xiao Fei (who was also known as Xiao Fei Hu), deduced that the son was a fake and advised Zhang not to concede. Zhang, realizing the deception, ordered Xiao Fei to kill Xing Tian. However, Xing Tian was quicker, killing Zhang with a single shot. He then offered Xiao Fei ten times his previous earnings, successfully recruiting him.
Xing Tian immediately assigned Xiao Fei to a delivery, instructing Tai to guide him on the Mengla Route to deliver goods to Lao Gui. He cautioned Xiao Fei not to carry weapons and to prioritize discarding the goods over exposing the route.
Mi Ya questioned sending important goods with a newcomer, but Xing Tian revealed that the "powder" Xiao Fei carried was a decoy, intended to attract the attention of Chinese military forces while the real cargo was transported elsewhere by him and Mi Ya via the Mengla Route. During his week-long suspension, Yan Poyue idly cleaned several pairs of his comrades' shoes in the dorm, much to Xiao Yun Jie’s concern.
Lu Xiao Tian called, informing them he was on a long-distance bus and would arrive at their county town the next day, hoping they could meet. Since Xiao Yun Jie couldn't get leave, Yan Poyue went alone to meet Lu Xiao Tian. Two years after his military discharge, Lu Xiao Tian had come directly to see them without even returning home first. Yan Poyue and Xiao Yun Jie had prepared gifts for him, with Xiao Yun Jie even writing a heartfelt letter.
