Yan Poyue and Xiao Yun Jie found it hard to believe Qin Feng's offer of rest, adhering to the belief that no hope meant no disappointment. Their suspicions were confirmed when an emergency assembly whistle blew in the middle of the night, prompting everyone to quickly pack up and board trucks to leave the base.

On the truck, Xiao Yun Jie noted that their helmets contained an Individual Combat System, capable of real-time monitoring of their movements, physiological functions, and even their voices were being tracked. At the command center, Leng Jing proudly highlighted Guo Xiaoxiao's consistent lead in training, to which Qin Feng acknowledged her keen eye, but added that this final round was specifically designed to challenge even the most experienced soldiers.

After two months of intense training, the participants were now facing their ultimate assessment: Hell Week. Those who endured would become true special forces members. Qin Feng informed the trainees that they were in the most dreadful part of the southwest tropical rainforest, a place where many war-era bodies were buried. Over the next five days, they would need to traverse more than 100 kilometers of jungle and swamp, using a compass and map to reach an end point.

They could act alone or form teams and would encounter multiple unexpected events. Anyone unable to continue could activate a positioning device on their helmet, or use a smoking tool if it failed, for a helicopter rescue, but this would mean elimination. Their first challenge was to climb a precipice to enter the primeval jungle. Bai Long attempted it first, confirming it was impossible without climbing gear. Yan Poyue agreed with Bai Long's suggestion to form a Human Ladder.

Yan Poyue, Xiao Yun Jie, and another team member positioned themselves to form the ladder, allowing Guo Xiaoxiao, referred to as Number 31, to climb first. She then threw a rope down for the others. Qin Feng observed their collective effort on the monitors and expressed satisfaction. After successfully overcoming the first obstacle, the teams dispersed. Xiao Yun Jie, convinced that Guo Xiaoxiao had experience in such jungles, approached her to form a trio with Yan Poyue.

He exaggerated the dangers, claiming they, as men, needed her protection. Yan Poyue discreetly tried to object but Xiao Yun Jie silenced him. Guo Xiaoxiao agreed, but only on the condition that they would follow her lead in any situation. Just one day into the assessment, many participants were already showing signs of exhaustion. Xiao Yun Jie complained of hunger, but Guo Xiaoxiao calmly stated that this was how the next few days would be.

She recounted surviving 27 days in a jungle with just one energy bar. When Xiao Yun Jie asked if she ate ant's eggs, she said they were hard to find here, but the jungle was full of other insects. Yan Poyue, unwilling to be outdone, suggested they look for them together, declaring he would eat them first if found.

Meanwhile, at the command center, Cao Ben voiced his concern that a quarter of the participants were running fevers, and several had infected wounds. He worried the Hell Week standards were too high for the new recruits. Qin Feng remained firm, reminding Cao Ben of their past experience, being trapped by drug traffickers in the mountains for seven days and nights, where a comrade, Fei, sacrificed himself to save Cao Ben from a landmine.

Qin Feng insisted that "old Cheetahs" did it, so "new Cheetahs" must too, emphasizing that all training was based on real combat scenarios. Later, Yan Poyue, Guo Xiaoxiao, and Xiao Yun Jie found a snake. Guo Xiaoxiao, unfazed, caught it and prepared it for cooking. Xiao Yun Jie, who feared snakes, worms, and cockroaches, refused to eat it, even as Yan Poyue teased him with the grilled meat.

Suddenly, a stun grenade exploded, followed by a loud bang, and a group of black-clad individuals attacked them. Guo Xiaoxiao immediately ordered a retreat, stating that not reaching the end point was the true failure, not retreating from a disadvantage. Guo Xiaoxiao’s shoulder had been hit multiple times and was likely swollen. Yan Poyue, in his characteristic blunt manner, pointed out her injuries would affect their speed. Xiao Yun Jie intervened, taking Guo Xiaoxiao's backpack to help her.

In the control center, Qin Feng instructed his team to continue tracking the participants and push them towards the end point. Many participants were soon overcome by exhaustion, with some collapsing and others choosing to withdraw to avoid burdening their teammates. The trio continued through the dense jungle, which was rife with leeches that could penetrate even protective clothing. They encountered Bai Long, who was calmly eating raw bird meat and offered them some.

Xiao Yun Jie invited Bai Long to join their team, but Bai Long declined, stating his preference for solitary travel. He explained that he only formed bonds with "true comrades" and had experienced too many losses, not wanting to "waste feelings for nothing." He wished them luck in reaching the end. As the jungle grew denser, they realized they were walking in circles. Guo Xiaoxiao suggested climbing over a lit-up ridge.

Yan Poyue volunteered to scout ahead, but he accidentally fell into a deep hole, triggering traumatic childhood memories of being trapped in a well while many people watched, none offering help. His monitoring signal was immediately interrupted. At the command center, Cao Ben wanted to dispatch a helicopter, but Lv Tu stopped him, noting that Yan Poyue's vital signs showed no immediate life-threatening danger, trusting the trainees as mature soldiers.

Guo Xiaoxiao and Xiao Yun Jie debated who should descend to rescue Yan Poyue. Guo Xiaoxiao asserted her higher rank and seniority to go down, promising to request a helicopter if Yan Poyue couldn't continue. Soon after, her signal also cut out due to the unstable signal in the valley. Qin Feng remained unfazed, simply asking for coffee, pointing out that neither of them had sent out a distress signal.

Meanwhile, Xiao Yun Jie encountered Zhou Zi Jian, who was limping with a swollen arm from a spider bite. Despite Zhou Zi Jian's negative remarks about Yan Poyue, Xiao Yun Jie helped treat his wound, reminding him not to speak ill of their comrades. Down in the hole, Yan Poyue and Guo Xiaoxiao tried to climb out using a rope but fell back down, exhausted.

Lying there, Yan Poyue recounted his childhood experience of being trapped in a well and realizing he could only rely on himself. Guo Xiaoxiao told him that Xiao Yun Jie had been frantic with worry when he fell. They then shared personal details, with Yan Poyue revealing his family were soldiers and Guo Xiaoxiao stating she was from Inner Mongolia, to which Yan Poyue remarked was why she was so strong. Yan Poyue, seemingly still affected by his past trauma, defiantly said he would rather eat the smoking tool than ask for help.
