Dongbo Xueying stayed in Xueying Territory to search for a new drilling location, but he couldn't find any clues. He knew that there was no reason for him to stay once his injuries healed, so he had to make good use of his time. He roamed around, following the instructions given by the Second Sacrifice, which pointed to the weakest spot in the Three Realms—the place where the first ray of sunlight shines after the lunar eclipse. That place was the location for the new drilling site. Ji Rong unintentionally arrived at the grave of Xueying's former Lord, Dongbo Lie, and believed that it was the right place. She spread the information and quickly received orders to find a way to infiltrate the Xueying Territory with demonic soldiers.

Zong Ling and Tong San patrolled and inspected the defenses together, but they discovered that many soldiers lacked discipline and military training. They appeared to be unqualified for their positions. The two of them called Xiong Qi, the leader of the troops, and found out that he had replaced the sentinels without authorization. Zong Ling and Tong San were furious and ordered him to immediately reinstate the original sentinels. However, Xiong Qi had been coerced by Ji Rong to make those changes.

Kong Youyue returned to Changfeng Academy and informed Dongbo Xueying about what she had seen regarding his mother. She expressed her regret, blaming her own weak martial arts skills for not being able to rescue Xueying's mother. Xueying thanked Kong Youyue and told her that it was his own matter to handle.

In preparation for the extraordinary trial, Chiqiu Bai personally taught Xueying the Heart Technique, emphasizing the need to first gather qi in the dantian and control it in order to control battle qi when wielding a spear. Situ Hong witnessed this scene and felt jealous, believing that their master favored Xueying. He secretly swore that although he entered the academy as the second-ranked disciple, he would surpass Xueying in the future.

In order to surpass Xueying, Situ Hong stole the key to the library from Master Tan Shi and took out a martial arts manual that students were not allowed to practice. He started training but due to his shallow foundation, his practice went awry, almost resulting in self-injury. Xueying noticed his discomfort and approached to help him, but Situ Hong coldly pushed him aside. Yu Jingqiu witnessed the scene and thought they were fighting. Situ Hong asked Yu Jingqiu whom she would support if he and Xueying were fighting. Yu Jingqiu didn't answer, and Situ Hong left in a huff. Xueying also posed the same question to her, and Yu Jingqiu replied with a smile that she would support what was right and not blindly support someone. Xueying was unsatisfied with the answer, wondering whether he fell under the category of what was right or personal. Yu Jingqiu couldn't answer. Yu Jingqiu brought medicine to treat Situ Hong's internal injuries, but Situ Hong was overthinking. He stated that only Yu Jingqiu cared about him in Changfeng Academy, and once he found Si Borong, he planned to return to Nanqin and ask his aunt, Si Lianghong, to propose to Yu Jingqiu at the Water Source Taoist Temple. Yu Jingqiu saw how angry he was and explained that everyone cared about him, but it was impossible between her and him. The next day, while Situ Hong was having a meal, he kept looking at Yu Jingqiu. Kong Youyue couldn't stand it and scolded him. Pu Yangbo warmly invited Dongbo Xueying to join him at his table. Situ Hong was extremely jealous and provocatively made thoughtless remarks. Xueying couldn't bear it anymore and was ready to accept his challenge when Chiqiu Bai and Tan Shi entered, stopping them. However, Situ Hong twisted the truth and framed Xueying, causing Xueying to be punished. Despite Pu Yangbo and Yu Jingqiu speaking up for Xueying, Xueying willingly accepted the punishment imposed by Chiqiu Bai. He was forbidden from using spells and was tasked with cleaning the library alone. Everyone came to help Xueying clean, but Yu Jingqiu accidentally got hit on the head by a book thrown by Kong Youyue and fainted. She had a dream about her childhood, witnessing her parents battling the Snowflake Demon. After Yu Jingqiu woke up, she told Chiqiu Bai about her dream, and Chiqiu Bai handed her an automatic token and advised her to go to Nanqin to ask Si Lianghong since she was at the forefront of the war back then. Kong Hai came to find Kong Youyue and expressed his intention to arrange her marriage with Dongbo Xueying. However, Dongbo Xueying, who was accompanying Yu Jingqiu to Nanqin, refused the proposal. He held Yu Jingqiu's hand and stated that he already had someone he liked. Kong Hai became furious and left with his people. Yu Jingqiu and Dongbo Xueying arrived in Nanqin, and on the way, they were pursued by two assassins. Fortunately, Si Lianghong and her men arrived to rescue them. Yu Jingqiu asked about her parents and their battle with the Snowflake Demon, but Si Lianghong had no answers to give. On their way back, Dongbo Xueying received a message from the assassins, stating that Kong Youyue had been captured and they wanted to exchange her for Yu Jingqiu. So, Dongbo Xueying, Yu Jingqiu, and Pu Yangbo went to rescue Kong Youyue, only to discover that the assassins were sent by Kong Hai to eliminate Yu Jingqiu.
