In the Qingshan House, filled with birdsong and the fragrance of flowers, Yuwen Zhuo learned that Chu Qiao had escaped. He earnestly warned Yuwen Yue not to waste all his thoughts on one woman. Yuwen Yue told his grandfather that he understood this principle, and was already planning the pursuit of Yan Xun with Yuan Che, who was returning to Chang'an. Yuwen Zhuo shook his head and sighed, taking out a handwritten letter from Yuwen Yue's father.

He told him that the smartest thing to do at this time was to remain inactive. Although loyalty to the master could earn a good reputation, after the crisis, he would inevitably be feared by the emperor. His fate would be no more than another Yan Shicheng. Yuwen Yue understood all this, but he did not want to be such a person, nor did he want to be manipulated by his father. Many years ago, Yuwen Yue's mother died tragically.

He was adopted by his father into the main branch of the Yuwen family. From then on, Yuwen Yue no longer held any illusions about this father. Yuwen Zhuo saw his grandson in such pain, and a flicker of tears appeared in his eyes. Things were not as he thought, but the truth could not yet be revealed. Yuwen Huai was dead.

Now no one in the Yuwen family could shake Qingshan House, and Yuwen Zhuo no longer had to live hidden in a dark secret room. Yuwen Yue properly arranged for his grandfather, then turned and left. In the past, Yuwen Yue had always followed his grandfather's instructions and lived a repressed life. Now that Yuwen Huai was dead, all power of the Yuwen family had returned to the main branch.

Yuwen Yue felt he had done right by his grandfather, and from now on, he wanted to live true to his own heart. Knowing that Chu Qiao was safe and sound, Yan Xun ordered the entire army to set out and return to Honghuan City immediately. Regarding the Xiuli Army, Yan Xun still could not let go. In his heart, traitors could never be forgiven.

He ordered that when the Xiuli Army returned, their entire army would be incorporated into the vanguard camp, which was Northern Yan's way of dealing with death row prisoners. Chu Qiao escorted Yuan Song and his sister back to Chang'an along the way. They spent the night in a dilapidated thatched hut. Chu Qiao knew that Yuan Chun did not want to see her, so she deliberately stayed outside the door.

When it rained, she merely walked into the shed to rest with her beloved horse, Meteor. Inside the hut, Yuan Song was unconscious and muttering incessantly. His repeated words were all about worrying about Chu Qiao. After dawn, Yuan Song woke up. In his current state, the last person he wanted to see was Chu Qiao. He spoke harshly to Chu Qiao, just wanting to drive her away.

Chu Qiao knew his intention and did not take his words to heart. She still diligently escorted them. Chu Qiao got caught in the rain and developed a high fever one night. Chun'er took care of her by her side. Chun'er had always disliked Chu Qiao, but she would not let Chu Qiao die. If Chu Qiao died, who would escort them? After several days of continuous travel, they finally arrived outside Chang'an City.

Yuan Song bid farewell to Chu Qiao. This was probably the last time he would speak calmly with Chu Qiao. If they met again, it would be as if they had never known each other. In his eyes, anyone who betrayed Great Wei was on a dead-end path. Chu Qiao looked at this man who had always been kind to her, but for whom she had no way to repay.

Even if they met again, she would not attack Yuan Song. Yan Xun had offered her a helping hand when she was in despair. The moment Chu Qiao stood with him on Jiuyou Platform, her current opposition to Yuan Song was already destined. She had always been distancing herself from Yuan Song, but Yuan Song evidently did not realize her intentions. Everyone knew the emperor would not let Yan Xun go. Only Yuan Song deceived himself, unwilling to believe.

That was why he was so furious when Yan Xun rebelled. Although Yuan Song outwardly resented Yan Xun's rebellion, what truly mattered to him and made him incredibly disappointed was that Chu Qiao unhesitatingly abandoned him to stand by Yan Xun's side.

Although Yuan Song repeatedly denounced Yan Xun, Chu Qiao knew that Yan Xun would not have cut off one of Yuan Song's arms if he hadn't been severely injured by Yuan Song; and if Yan Xun hadn't been so gravely wounded as to fall unconscious, he wouldn't have let those ten people escort Yuan Song and his sister. Chu Qiao's deduction was astonishing, and Yuan Song did not deny it. He told her that Yan Xun was dying soon.

Even so, Chu Qiao did not regret coming to escort them. She mounted her horse and galloped away. Not long after, Yuan Che arrived with his men. Chun'er blamed all their misfortunes on Chu Qiao. She pointed in the direction Chu Qiao had left and told Older Brother Qi, Yuan Che, to make sure to capture her. Yuan Song instinctively pointed in the opposite direction, but between him and Yuan Chun, Yuan Che chose to believe Yuan Chun.

Yuan Song's finger, pointing in the opposite direction, could only drop powerlessly. Seeing his son and daughter suffer such a tragedy, the Wei Emperor was furious. He ordered a nationwide manhunt for Yan Xun and Chu Qiao, to be killed without mercy. The Emperor had always doted on Yuan Song and Yuan Chun. In contrast, Lan Shuyi's child held almost no weight in his heart.

The child had been missing for a long time, yet the Emperor merely offered Lan Shuyi a few simple words of comfort, showing no sadness himself. Yuwen Huai had been dead for a long time. Lan Shuyi's child, whom he had locked in a box, could not possibly have survived. When Lan Shuyi saw the tragic state of her young son's death, she nearly went mad. She blamed all of it on Chu Qiao.

If it weren't for wanting to help Chu Qiao, she wouldn't have offended Yuwen Huai. What Lan Shuyi cared about most was her son. Now that her son was dead, the only belief sustaining her life was revenge.
