Li Huizhen finds herself in a difficult position; though she harbors feelings for Bai Haoyu and wishes to be with him, she cannot accept his confession until her best friend, Xia Qiao, comes clean about her deception. Meanwhile, Lin Yimu, who also loves Li Huizhen, sadly embraces her, realizing she may soon be out of his reach. Upon returning home, Li Huizhen discovers Xia Qiao mending her old, cherished shoes—a gesture that deeply moves her.
Later, Xia Qiao cooks for Li Huizhen and buys her gifts, hoping for forgiveness. Li Huizhen, understanding her friend, eventually forgives Xia Qiao, reaffirming their sisterhood and acknowledging that Xia Qiao genuinely fell for Bai Haoyu. Li Huizhen's childhood dream of becoming a fairy tale writer is rekindled after meeting Teacher Zhang, a fairy tale author who encourages her and gifts her a book. Later, at a gallery, Li Huizhen unexpectedly encounters Bai Haoyu.
They discover a shared admiration for a particular painting. Bai Haoyu apologizes, believing Li Huizhen is troubled by his confession, but she asks him to wait as she has a personal matter (concerning Xia Qiao, not Lin Yimu) to resolve. An elderly couple asks Li Huizhen to take their photo, and then, in turn, photographs Li Huizhen and Bai Haoyu together in front of the cherished painting.
Lin Yimu informs Xia Qiao about Bai Haoyu's confession to Li Huizhen, shocking Xia Qiao. She resolves to apologize to both Li Huizhen and Bai Haoyu, and Lin Yimu advises her to confess proactively. Xia Qiao later calls Bai Haoyu, intending to reveal the truth. The deception unravels when Bai Haoyu, while at a hotel for a work meeting with Vivian and foreign partners, spots a magazine featuring Xia Qiao as an excellent hotel manager, under her real name.
He then confronts Xia Qiao, who confesses that she is indeed Xia Qiao and that the true Li Huizhen has been by his side all along. Distraught, Bai Haoyu realizes he had unknowingly mistreated the real Li Huizhen. Separately, Li Huizhen realizes that Lin Yimu was injured while searching for her during an earlier accident. When confronted, Lin Yimu admits to falling while looking for her and also reveals he witnessed her hugging Bai Haoyu in the rain.
