Li Huizhen's family shares a close bond with Xia Qiao, often inviting her for meals and treating her with more warmth than Li Huizhen herself, prompting Li Huizhen's sister, Li Huilin, to suggest Li Huizhen improve her image. Xia Qiao enjoys their company but secretly envies Li Huizhen's happy family, as her own is imperfect. Misunderstanding Xia Qiao's true desire for Bai Haoyu, Li Huizhen offers to "give" her family to Xia Qiao when Xia Qiao expresses admiration.
Li Huizhen discovers a puzzle piece that Bai Haoyu gave her as a child, a reminder of his promise to protect her, a promise that now feels distant as he seems to bully her. Later, the puzzle goes missing and accidentally adheres to Bai Haoyu's shoe, causing Li Huizhen distress. Li Huizhen goes to the company to send an email for Han Xue.
Noticing Bai Haoyu's office light on, she playfully enters, sits in his chair, and mimics him, only to be caught by Bai Haoyu. Security guards later inform Bai Haoyu that Li Huizhen frequently asks them to check on him, concerned for his well-being after a previous incident where Zhu Ying fainted. At the gym, Xia Qiao encounters Bai Haoyu. Despite having finished her workout, she pretends she just arrived to spend more time with him.
Bai Haoyu, feeling troubled by company matters, engages in conversation. He recalls their favorite childhood song and a tradition of making wishes on fallen eyelashes, but Xia Qiao's unfamiliarity with these details makes Bai Haoyu feel a growing distance and unfamiliarity with "Li Huizhen," whom he believes Xia Qiao to be. Lin Husheng, observing them, mistakenly assumes Xia Qiao is Bai Haoyu's girlfriend.
To avoid Li Huizhen meeting Bai Haoyu, Xia Qiao later declines Li Huizhen's invitation to join her at the gym. Li Huizhen desperately tries to retrieve her puzzle piece from Bai Haoyu's shoe. She attempts to get close to him, even offering to clean his shoe, but he dismisses her. The puzzle eventually falls off, and Lin Yimu, who has been observing Li Huizhen, steps on it and then picks it up.
As thanks for returning it, Lin Yimu asks Li Huizhen to treat him to a meal, which she agrees to. Lin Yimu had previously encountered Xia Qiao at a hotel and offered her a sour fortune candy. After work, he and Li Huizhen leave together for their meal. Han Xue, witnessing their closeness, becomes angry, believing Li Huizhen is trying to steal her "future husband." Meanwhile, Bai Haoyu continues to hear the word "safety" at unexpected moments but cannot find Li Huizhen, leaving him to wonder if it's just a coincidence.
