The team is still unable to identify the male body found in the villa, whom the previous episode identified as Sang Kun. Although they discovered an account named "Scary Pirate" on a confiscated laptop, they haven't yet cracked its password. Investigators note that even if the password is cracked, it would only confirm someone logged in from the villa, not the identity of "Scary Pirate" nor his connection to the deceased, highlighting the challenges of cybercrime.

In a meeting to discuss upcoming themes, Mi Gu proposes a special report on 3D printing, an idea her boss enthusiastically approves and assigns to her. Mi Gu immediately tries to contact Zhuo Ran for this purpose, but he is currently preoccupied with tracking Xia Chu's location and doesn't reply. She even asks an associate to help her reach him.
Meanwhile, Xia Chu texts Liang Muze to confirm her safe arrival at her hometown, where she first visited Professor Zhao's wife, and thanks him for the ride. Liang Muze, uncharacteristically, adds Xia Chu as a friend on WeChat, prompting Tian Yong to teasingly point out Liang Muze's unusual attentiveness toward Xia Chuāleaving him at the hospital, delaying his return to the unit, and risking a reprimand from their Brigade Commander, all for her.
Liang Muze brushes off Tian Yong's observations and urges him to drive faster. Upon arriving home, Xia Chu's mother, initially mistaking her for her father, Xia Guangyuan, is overjoyed to see her daughter. Xia Chu spends the night sleeping with her mother, assuring her that she is well despite her mother's persistent concerns about her work and personal life, and even joking about her mother's tendency to worry.
She also promises to fund a trip for her parents once her father retires, reminiscing about their never-taken honeymoon, which was interrupted by her father's work. Xia Chu attributes her sudden return simply to missing her family, deliberately omitting the news of Professor Zhao's death.
However, the following morning, as Xia Chu departs, her mother is seen reading a news article about a Military Medical University professor who died of a sudden heart attack due to overwork, implying she has now learned the truth.
