Liang Shaoxue stood guard by Tian Yong as he woke up in the health station. The moment he regained consciousness, she confessed her feelings again, expressing her desire to be in a relationship with him. Tian Yong, flustered, quickly found his shoes and ran towards the training grounds. Liang Shaoxue followed closely, questioning why he would flee from a simple confession. Meanwhile, Liang Muze was reporting to Dong Zhigang about Long Yi's attempt to harm Xia Chu.

Dong Zhigang inquired about Xia Chu's well-being, to which Liang Muze explained that she wasn't accustomed to the military camp and couldn't leave her work. He assured Dong Zhigang that he had arranged for Rao Feng to have someone look after her at the hospital. Liang Muze also decided not to burden Xia Chu with the news of her first love visiting the police station. Seeing Liang Shaoxue chasing Tian Yong, Liang Muze called out to her.

Liang Shaoxue immediately enlisted Dong Zhigang's help, asking him to persuade Tian Yong to date her, claiming she was "outstanding." Dong Zhigang humored her, while Liang Muze dismissed her self-perception as a "delusion." Tian Yong, seemingly cornered by Liang Shaoxue's persistence, requested half an hour of leave from Dong Zhigang to take Liang Shaoxue to the Martyrs' Cemetery.

At the cemetery, Tian Yong showed Liang Shaoxue the graves of fallen soldiers, including Luo Liang, his and Liang Muze's former captain, who died young, leaving behind a child his wife had to raise alone. Tian Yong explained that Luo Liang's wife’s struggle was a choice she made when she chose her husband. He aimed to make Liang Shaoxue understand the dangers of his profession and deter her, but she remained unafraid.

She asserted that death could not hinder affection, emphasizing that Tian Yong's acknowledgment of her hidden vulnerabilities meant more to her than anything else. To challenge her resolve, Tian Yong handed her his copy of "Three Hundred Tang Poems", suggesting she first understand his "spiritual world" by memorizing the poems before deciding if she truly liked him. Liang Shaoxue accepted the challenge.

Tian Yong later confided in Liang Muze, who, upon hearing of the task, deemed it a "humiliation," stating that Tian Yong was not just rejecting Liang Shaoxue but humiliating her. Tian Yong then explained to Liang Muze that every time he read the book, every character with a female radical would transform into Liang Shaoxue's face, concluding that she was "fated with the book."

Upon learning of Tian Yong's unusual challenge to Liang Shaoxue, Liang Muze confronted his sister, attempting to dissuade her from pursuing a relationship. He highlighted her short attention span and the impracticality of a long-distance relationship given her impending return to the United States and Tian Yong's active military duty. Liang Shaoxue vehemently rejected his advice, accusing him of hypocrisy and jealousy.

She provocatively suggested that he envied her unwavering determination to pursue Tian Yong across any distance, unlike his Dr. Xia, who, according to Liang Shaoxue, was solely devoted to her medical career and held him in lower regard. Liang Muze, visibly stung by her words, declared that if Tian Yong still liked her after considering the situation, he would "read his name backward." Liang Muze then contacted Rao Feng, informing him of Liang Shaoxue's presence at his unit.

Rao Feng confirmed his awareness, revealing he had installed a tracking program on her phone. This piqued Liang Muze's interest, and he requested a similar device for Xia Chu. Rao Feng reassured him that Xia Chu was safe, with personnel guarding her at the hospital. He also updated Liang Muze that Long Yi had fled towards the border and the frontier armed police were searching for him.

Regarding Zhuo Ran, Rao Feng informed Liang Muze that he was in a detention center. Zhuo Ran had requested to be released to return to T4 as an undercover agent, cooperating with the police to apprehend Old Master. Although Zhuo Ran claimed ignorance about Long Yi's attack on Xia Chu, Rao Feng did not believe him, suspecting a deeper motive behind "Old Master's" interest in Xia Chu.

Rao Feng explained that Zhuo Ran's request to cooperate indicated a growing internal division within T4, especially after the murders of Sang Kun and Gui. Seeing Zhuo Ran as a potential "breakthrough" to dismantle T4, particularly given his apparent conflict with Old Master and the fact that his mother was still held by Old Master, Rao Feng sought permission from his chief to release Zhuo Ran under surveillance and involve Interpol.

The chief agreed to the plan, authorizing close monitoring and immediate capture if anything went awry. Meanwhile, Zhang Yichi's father, a former leader, visited the hospital. After discussing a valuable medical case involving paraquat poisoning that Zhang Yichi had assigned to Xia Chu and another resident, his father praised Xia Chu's abilities. He then inquired about Zhang Yichi's personal life, probing if he had romantic feelings for Xia Chu.

Zhang Yichi denied any romantic interest, stating she was not "his cup of tea" and he simply valued her professional talent. He did, however, admit to having met someone special. Shortly after, Li Juan arrived with food. Upon overhearing Zhang Yichi's confession, she eagerly encouraged him to introduce his new partner to his parents, suggesting a weekend dinner at a friend's newly opened restaurant. Zhang Yichi, seemingly hesitant, stated they had "just met."

Their conversation was interrupted by a call from Xia Chu, who reported Liu Ran's rapidly deteriorating condition. At Liu Ran's bedside, Zhang Yichi confirmed her severe dehydration and high fever caused by "Acinetobacter Baumannii". He authorized the use of polymyxin E, a potent antibiotic, despite its irreversible nature. Despite their best efforts, Liu Ran's condition worsened, as the bacteria developed into a fully antibiotic-resistant strain, leading to septic shock.

Realizing further resuscitation was futile, the medical team concluded that their efforts were meaningless. Xia Chu, however, refused to give up, insisting on researching past cases for any possible solution, much to Zhang Yichi's frustration, who urged her to be more rational. In her final moments, Liu Ran called for Xia Chu, telling her not to be afraid because the criminal had been arrested.

She praised Xia Chu, urged her to "hang in there," and quietly instructed her to read a letter hidden under her pillow. With a last "thank you," Liu Ran peacefully passed away. Zhang Yichi attempted to contact Liu Ran's family, then reminded Xia Chu about the dinner arrangements, stressing the importance of separating professional duties from personal life and emotional well-being. In a remote headquarters, "Old Master" discussed drug trafficking plans with Zhuo Ran.

He confirmed the deal was settled with buyers and the delivery arranged for Black Maplewood, marked with a T4 symbol. He also revealed he had secured the services of Songpaisarn, a former military acquaintance of Liang Muze, promising the villagers' families would be safe. Meanwhile, Liang Muze's Team Thunder received intelligence about a well-trained group of T4 mercenaries using border residents to smuggle large quantities of drugs into the country near boundary pillar number 17.

Although border police had apprehended some villagers, T4 remained elusive. Team Thunder was ordered to assist in the search and capture. Liang Muze's Team Thunder engaged the drug traffickers in a fierce firefight at the border. Liang Muze announced their presence as the Chinese People's Liberation Army and demanded their surrender. During the intense battle, Liang Muze personally took down a sniper, who was revealed to be Songpaisarn.

Liang Muze called for a medic, but Songpaisarn shook his head and succumbed to his wounds. Liang Muze apprehended Long Yi, who attempted to deny involvement, and handed him over to the police, along with a 3D-printed mask found in the jungle, hinting at a connection to Long Yi or Zhuo Ran. Back at Old Master's headquarters, Zhuo Ran reported the failure of the operation at Black Maplewood, with their people and goods lost and Long Yi missing.

Old Master, enraged by the Chinese military police's interference, vowed revenge on Liang Muze. Zhuo Ran suggested targeting those close to Liang Muze, initially mentioning his sister, Liang Shaoxue. However, Old Master recalled Dr. Xia Chu, realizing her value to Xia Guang Yuan and Liang Muze.

He ordered Xia Chu's kidnapping, asserting that it would serve as a dual punishment for Liang Muze and leverage against Xia Guang Yuan, a task he believed Zhuo Ran capable of given his prior involvement with the father and daughter. Unbeknownst to Old Master, police later confronted Zhuo Ran with evidence, including the 3D-printed mask found near Black Maplewood and his presence at Jianqiaolan Bay's underground garage where he had previously followed and attempted to kidnap Xia Chu. When asked about his activities on a specific date, Zhuo Ran demanded a lawyer, but the police officer informed him that they could proceed with prosecution even without his statement.
