Fu Zi, deeply wronged, cried and expressed her desire for her father to no longer interfere in her romantic affairs. Seeing his daughter's profound sadness, Fu Zi's father stopped nagging, though he was deeply worried about her potential hurt and the time she spent waiting.
Meanwhile, in another city, Hao Zeyu was attending a brand new product launch event with Bai Jiaojiao. A journalist inquired about his current relationship status, a question often asked by fans. Despite Shi Rujing's subtle signal to deny it, Hao Zeyu hesitated briefly, then publicly admitted that he had a girlfriend, causing a stir among the audience. Shi Rujing's expression immediately turned grim.

She exploited Hao Zeyu's admission by spreading rumors that his girlfriend was Bai Jiaojiao, releasing secretly taken paparazzi photos from the airport that showed them in seemingly intimate moments. Hao Zeyu was enraged by Shi Rujing's sordid methods, but she remained unconcerned, stating that she only cared about results, not the means to achieve them.
Shi Rujing also informed Hao Zeyu that she had secured a new acting project for him, an "older woman-younger man romance," suggesting that he and Bai Jiaojiao would be a perfect fit. She urged him to quickly adjust his mood, promising that this highly coveted role would be his once he completed the reality show and returned to China. Hao Zeyu, ignoring her, turned and walked away.
Concerned, Fu Zi's father went to a phone store to buy her a new phone, specifically asking the salesperson to wrap it beautifully. On his drive home, feeling cheerful, he heard a radio broadcast announcing Hao Zeyu and Bai Jiaojiao's public relationship. Startled, he immediately called Hao Zeyu, who was at Beijing airport, about to board a plane for an overseas reality show, with only two hours until his flight.
Fu Zi's father urged him to wait at the airport for a meeting. Fu Zi's father quickly arrived at the airport and picked up Hao Zeyu, who was heavily disguised. He drove Hao Zeyu around the highway for several loops without speaking, making Hao Zeyu feel very uneasy. After a long silence, Fu Zi's father finally broached the topic of Hao Zeyu and Bai Jiaojiao. He clarified that he didn't believe Hao Zeyu was that kind of person.
He recalled a miserable and hopeless year when Hao Zeyu had felt like giving up, and he had taken him for a drive, showing him how everyone struggled yet continued to persevere, teaching Hao Zeyu he had no right to complain. As a father, his sole wish was for Fu Zi to live happily every day and not waste her time "waiting."
Acknowledging Hao Zeyu's difficult journey and the impossibility of selfishly asking him to abandon his dreams for Fu Zi, he suggested that Hao Zeyu and Fu Zi should break up. He understood Hao Zeyu's ideals and persistence, but Fu Zi was an ordinary girl, and he only wanted her to remain ordinary, simple, and happy.
Hao Zeyu explained that he simply wanted to earn more money, noting that the bank card he had given Fu Zi now contained enough money to buy a large apartment in Beijing. Hao Zeyu then informed Fu Zi's father about the new acting project Shi Rujing had secured for him, which would require him to stay in Beijing afterward, allowing him more time to be with Fu Zi and her family. After their circuitous drive, Fu Zi's father dropped Hao Zeyu back at the airport.
Meanwhile, Fu Zi and Niu Meili were busy with accounts at their shop when Ren Jiajia excitedly showed them the entertainment news on her phone, which featured the rumors about Hao Zeyu and Bai Jiaojiao. Fu Zi's expression instantly fell, but she forced a smile and insisted it was false. Despite her outward denial, she was deeply upset.
Just then, Niu Meili received a call from Fu Zi's father, who wanted her to tell Fu Zi not to believe the rumors, confirming he had spoken with Hao Zeyu and there was nothing between him and Bai Jiaojiao. Fu Zi tried to speak to him, but his phone battery died, and the call was disconnected. On his way home, Fu Zi's father suddenly suffered a severe asthma attack.
His medicine had fallen between the car seats, and he couldn't find it. He struggled to pull the car over to the side of the road before collapsing onto the steering wheel, slowly suffocating. The car horn blared. Passersby noticed the abnormal parked vehicle and immediately called for emergency services. At that exact moment, Hao Zeyu had already boarded his plane for the overseas reality show.
Niu Meili later received a call from the hospital, her eyes widening in horror as she processed the news. Behind her, Fu Zi, oblivious, continued to play innocently with Ren Jiajia, unaware of the tragedy unfolding, creating a poignant scene of impending sorrow. Upon landing, Hao Zeyu was overwhelmed by countless missed calls from Fu Zi and the devastating news of her father's passing. He was immediately distraught and insisted on returning to China at once.
However, Shi Rujing firmly restrained him, reminding him that he had to fulfill his contract and that breaching it at this critical juncture would be considered unprofessional and lead to damaging headlines. Hao Zeyu, in immense pain, recalled Fu Zi's father's earlier words about the harsh realities of their industry – that one might grieve a family member one day and be expected to smile on stage the next, embracing such hardships.
Wiping away his tears, he managed to tell Fu Zi that he would return as soon as possible. At the hospital, Fu Zi's father lay covered with a white cloth, a victim of a sudden heart attack triggered by his asthma attack.
