Adapted from Zhang Jiayia's novel of the same name, the film follows ordinary young man Liu Shisan who loses his way in the city. Returning to his hometown with his grandmother, he reconnects with childhood friend Cheng Shuang and spends time with his grandmother. There, he encounters a young girl named Qiu Qiu. An unexpected encounter leads Liu Shisan and Cheng Shuang to unexpectedly become parents. Together with Qiuqiu, they form a makeshift family of three, and Liu Shisan gradually emerges from his past confusion.

Synopsis
Liu Shisan, who grew up relying solely on his grandmother, was driven by his mother's parting words to study diligently, gain admission to a prestigious university, and build a good life. Thus, the clumsy and not particularly bright Liu Shisan threw himself into his studies, neglecting sleep and meals. Yet he came to realise, with bitter disappointment, that in this world, many things cannot be achieved merely through planning and perseverance.
In pursuit of distant horizons and dreams, Liu Shisan packed his bags and left his hometown. After struggling to make ends meet in the big city, he found himself utterly drunk. His grandmother then drove him back home in her old tractor, travelling day and night in what felt like a kidnapping.
Upon his bewildered return, Liu Shisan reunited with Cheng Shuang, a girl he'd known since childhood. Cheng Shuang enthusiastically devised strategies to help Liu Shisan sell 1,001 insurance policies within a year.
Together, they witnessed the love story unfold between Niu Datian and Qin Xiaozhen, while their own relationships gradually blossomed.
His grandmother had learned six months prior that she had cancer, with only half a year left to live.
With the help of neighbours and Cheng Shuang, Liu Shisan arranged his grandmother's funeral.
Soon after, Cheng Shuang also had to leave him to undergo surgery at the hospital. Before departing, she made Liu Shisan a lifelong promise.
His grandmother and Cheng Shuang departed, carrying their love for him. Liu Shisan, bearing hope, resolutely carried on with his life.
