Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Episode 7 Recap
> Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Recap
Na Sheng and Su Mo arrived at a Heavenly Temple, where Bai Ying, hidden inside, spotted Su Mo. Unable to endure sunlight, she remained concealed. Su Mo was delighted to see Bai Ying, but first asked Na Sheng to explain why the Heavenly Ring was on her finger. Na Sheng recounted finding it on Snow Mountain, how it inexplicably attached itself, and her inability to remove it.
Su Mo pressed her, questioning why she used it to make him help her. Bai Ying interjected, believing the ring's appearance was a result of Zhen Lan's spiritual consciousness being sealed a hundred years ago. Just as they were speaking, General Yu Huan from Cangliu arrived with soldiers, demanding they open the temple doors or he would burn it down. Na Sheng, concerned they were pursuing her, admitted she had been chased by many people since crossing Tianque.
Hearing Na Sheng's story and realizing she had crossed Tianque with the Heavenly Ring, Bai Ying exclaimed that Na Sheng was the person she had been searching for. Su Mo quickly instructed Bai Ying to take Na Sheng and leave while he confronted Yu Huan and his men. He warned Bai Ying that if she harmed Na Sheng, he would take her life. Na Sheng then pleaded for "Immortal Brother" to appear and help them.
Zhen Lan’s spiritual form emerged, confirming that Na Sheng's Heavenly Ring and Bai Ying's ring were a pair. He cautioned Na Sheng that taking Bai Ying outside would be dangerous due to Bai Ying's inability to withstand sunlight. Zhen Lan's form began to flicker, and he urgently told Na Sheng that the power in the ring was depleting and he was about to disappear, urging her to tell Bai Ying about him.
While Su Mo clashed with Yu Huan’s forces, Na Sheng led Bai Ying into the forest. Bai Ying, weakened by the sun, struggled to keep up. Na Sheng explained that Zhen Lan, an "Immortal Brother," resided in the ring as a shadow only she could see, who had guided her through hidden paths and helped her evade pursuers. Recognizing "His Highness," Bai Ying took Na Sheng's hand, and together they raised their joined hands overhead.
Bai Ying invoked the "Ancestors of Kongsang," praying for the power of Heaven and Earth to awaken "His Highness" who had been in deep sleep for a century, asking heaven to bless Kongsang. A brilliant light erupted from the two rings. This radiant light was observed by the Zhizhe, who declared the Heavenly Ring's reappearance and that a dim star was shining again. He immediately ordered Saintess Yu Zhu to retrieve the Heavenly Ring at all costs.
Moments later, Zhen Lan fully manifested in a physical body. Na Sheng was amazed by his resemblance to his shadow. Zhen Lan's loyal subjects, Prince Xuan and Prince Zi, as well as Princesses Qing Yuan, Lan Xia, and Chi, soon arrived, welcoming their Crown Prince's awakening after a hundred years. Zhen Lan acknowledged Bai Ying's suffering. Despite her joy, Bai Ying's concern shifted to Su Mo's safety, and she resolved to return and help him.
Upon returning, Bai Ying was astonished to find Su Mo had become incredibly powerful, having defeated most of Yu Huan's soldiers. Only Yu Huan himself remained fighting. Yu Huan wielded a sword, which Bai Ying recognized as the Holy Sword Sect's Sword of Light, reminding her of her master. Simultaneously, Yu Huan, noticing Bai Ying's weapon, realized she must be his senior sister. Feigning defeat, Yu Huan ordered his remaining men to retreat.
Later, Na Sheng, still curious, asked Zhen Lan about his relationship with Bai Ying. Zhen Lan explained that a hundred years ago, he was the Crown Prince and Bai Ying the Crown Princess, but they had not yet married. Na Sheng then pressed him about Bai Ying and Su Mo, wondering if they were a couple.
Zhen Lan then recounted the history of Wuse City: a century ago, during Cangliu's invasion of Kongsang, the six princes opened the underwater city to save a hundred thousand Kongsang people in Jing City from massacre. These people now slept within Wuse City, unable to see daylight again, which explained why Bai Ying's skin would smoke in sunlight. Na Sheng condemned the Cangliu people's cruelty.
Zhen Lan revealed that his powers had been sealed throughout Yunhuang and only his right hand had regained some strength, as he had only broken one of four seals. He expressed the need for Na Sheng to use the Heavenly Ring to locate the remaining seals to help awaken the Kongsang people. Na Sheng, however, lacked confidence, explaining she was just a normal person who came to Yunhuang seeking a peaceful life, not to undertake such a heavy burden.
Zhen Lan urged her to reconsider, promising to protect her in the meantime and help her find the peaceful home she sought. Soon after, Zhen Lan's subordinates located them. He introduced Na Sheng to them, emphasizing the importance of protecting her, and then departed to find Bai Ying. Meanwhile, Su Mo confronted Bai Ying, wanting to continue their relationship.
Bai Ying insisted she had died a hundred years ago when she jumped from Jing Pagoda and now lived only for Kongsang. She claimed everything that happened a century ago was a mistake she wanted to atone for, even if it meant forgetting him. Su Mo refused to believe her, questioning if she had thought of him at all in the past hundred years.
Bai Ying, denying any longing or regret, falsely claimed she never missed him, never hoped to see him again, and blamed him for the tragedy. Su Mo, unconvinced, reiterated that he didn't believe her lies. Zhen Lan and Bai Ying returned to Na Sheng. Na Sheng tried once more to remove the ring, but failed, expressing her frustration and desire to be rid of it. Zhen Lan explained the Heavenly Ring had its own will.
Bai Ying reassured Na Sheng that they would protect her. Na Sheng, however, pointed out that it was always Su Mo who ultimately saved them. Hearing Su Mo's name, Prince Xuan and Prince Zi expressed anger and a desire to kill him. Zhen Lan intervened, reminding them that Su Mo had saved Bai Ying and Na Sheng. Zhen Lan then arranged for Na Sheng to travel to Taoyuan Province, a prosperous place, promising to pick her up after sunset.
He playfully gave her a fake mantra to use with the ring. Later, Hong Yuan observed Bai Ying's distress and commented that she still seemed to care for Su Mo. Bai Ying tearfully denied it, claiming she had broken off their relationship, a statement overheard by Zhen Lan from just outside the room. Later, the High Priest joyfully greeted the awakened Zhen Lan.
He was surprised to learn the Heavenly Ring was gone but was relieved when Zhen Lan explained Na Sheng was wearing it because it had recognized her as its master. Zhen Lan clarified that since the Heavenly Ring was linked to his imperial energy and could help Na Sheng sense the other seals, she was crucial for their mission to break them, despite her lack of strength.
He also mentioned seeing Su Mo on Tianque and a feeling that they would meet again. Elsewhere, Vice General Nan Zhao, acting on orders from Shi Peng, intercepted General Fei Lian and his prisoner, Xiao, on their way back to Jing City, taking custody of Xiao. Upon learning that Yu Huan had failed to capture Na Sheng, Shi Peng, acknowledging Su Mo and Bai Ying’s formidable skills, ordered Yu Huan not to interfere further.
Shi Peng had another plan involving Xiao, a high-status prisoner from Banbu City, whom he believed had connections within the Quanxian army. Xiao was subjected to torture and interrogation by Nan Zhao's men, who attempted to use mind control to extract information. Xiao fiercely resisted, even at the risk of losing her memory or sanity. A message from Shi Peng instructed Nan Zhao to cease the torture, as Xiao had other uses.
Nan Zhao subsequently used Xiao's identity to arrange a meeting with Yan Xi in Jing City. Yan Xi, suspicious of the meeting location, nevertheless attended, only to be attacked by Xiao upon their encounter.
