Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Episode 38 Recap
> Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Recap
Bai Ying diligently tried to reassemble her scattered memories of Su Mo but found herself unable to recall them. When Su Mo visited her, he advised her to prioritize her health, stating that those past memories were simply a story and not worth obsessing over. He reiterated that her being alive was more important than anything else.
Feeling his inability to secure the dragon deity's power, Su Mo resolved to practice the Splitting Skill again to confront Zhi Zhe, despite warnings from Master Si about its severe backlash, which was even worse than the Mirror Technique. Su Mo acknowledged the danger but insisted it was the only way to defeat Zhi Zhe and lead the Quanxian people back to the Biluo Sea.
He confessed to Master Si his constant doubt that he might not be the true Emperor of the Sea, suggesting his brother, Su Nuo, might be the rightful one, even though everyone believed Su Nuo to be dead. He questioned his abilities to lead the Quanxian back home. Master Si speculated that bringing order to the current chaos might be the key to obtaining the dragon deity's power. Yan Xi, under Na Sheng's care, finally awoke.
Na Sheng was overjoyed and relieved to see him, but her happiness was tinged with sorrow as she remembered Ning Liang's sacrifice. She mentioned Ning Liang's spirit would be happy to see Yan Xi awake, but Yan Xi showed no reaction to the news of Ning Liang's death. Meanwhile, an Elder of Quanxian approached Su Mo, seeking his plan to attack Cangliu and return to the Biluo Sea, believing Su Mo had already acquired the dragon deity's power.
Su Mo, however, was anxious, unable to reveal his true situation for fear of undermining morale. He told the Elder that attacking Zhi Zhe couldn't be rushed, as he wished to prevent further casualties among the Quanxian people. The Elder later confided in Yan Xi, expressing suspicion that Su Mo was hiding something, as his health was visibly deteriorating instead of strengthening.
He questioned if Su Mo had truly obtained the dragon deity's power, or worse, if he was not the real Emperor of the Sea. The Elder intended to confront Su Mo, but Yan Xi urged caution. Bai Ying returned to the stone house with Zhen Lan. Su Mo visited her, personally delivering medicine. Bai Ying was very curious about the Sunlight Blocking Pearl, which Su Mo had given her.
She discovered that tapping it three times would summon him, leading her to believe there was a significant history between them that no one was willing to share, which frustrated her. After giving her the medicine, Su Mo left quickly. Zhen Lan arrived later, and Bai Ying expressed her disappointment that Su Mo dismissed her inquiries about the past, telling her not to force herself to remember.
Zhen Lan, seeing Bai Ying's deep affection for Su Mo despite her memory loss, realized he had no chance with her. He expressed his hope that she would regain her memories and become whole again, recognizing her profound love for Su Mo. In the Cangliu imperial prison, Yu Huan was mocked by a blacksmith serving Master Peng.
The blacksmith taunted Yu Huan about his sister, suggesting she would suffer seeing him in such a state and that he intended to torture him. Enraged at the mention of his sister, Yu Huan killed the blacksmith with a single blow and escaped. Fei Lian, who had intended to rescue Yu Huan, met him in the forest and offered him refuge in his own room, deeming it the safest hiding spot.
Su Nuo infiltrated Su Mo's ice chamber while Su Mo was in seclusion, preparing for a sneak attack. Su Mo used the Splitting Skill to fend him off but suffered a severe backlash. Su Nuo then revealed his identity, expressing his hatred for Su Mo. He explained that as Su Mo's younger brother, he had endured a life of pain, bearing the backlash whenever Su Mo practiced the Mirror or Splitting Techniques.
He demanded that Su Mo either abandon these techniques or die, so that he would no longer suffer. Su Nuo attacked the weakened Su Mo, intent on killing him and seizing his power. Just as he was about to strike, the Elder and Yan Xi arrived, looking for Su Mo. Su Nuo, impersonating Su Mo, claimed his brother had tried to assassinate him but had been subdued.
He then ordered everyone to be summoned to the council chamber for an important announcement. Bai Ying, feeling a profound sense of unease after Su Mo was knocked unconscious by Su Nuo, tapped the Sunlight Blocking Pearl three times. Su Mo, though sensing her, was protected by Master Si and unable to respond. Bai Ying decided to go find him, sensing he was in trouble.
In a spiritual realm, Master Si informed Su Mo that he had been poisoned by Su Nuo and was protecting him. Su Mo, however, insisted on leaving to prevent Su Nuo from harming the Quanxian, despite Master Si's warning that forcibly waking up could be fatal due to the poison in his spiritual consciousness. Master Si finally relented, giving Su Mo power to leave, reminding him of his duty to lead the Quanxian back to the Biluo Sea.
Upon waking, Su Mo tried to summon Master Si but found he could not, leaving him wondering what had happened to his Master. In the council chamber, Su Nuo, still impersonating Su Mo, declared an immediate, unplanned attack on Cangliu. The Quanxian expressed concern over the lack of strategy. Su Nuo, acting erratically, dismissed their worries, asserted his authority as Emperor of the Sea, and threatened to abandon their return to the Biluo Sea if they did not comply.
The true Su Mo then arrived, confronting Su Nuo and telling him to stop his reckless behavior. The two brothers engaged in battle. Bai Ying also arrived at the scene. Su Nuo conjured a barrier, trapping everyone else outside. From beyond, Zhi Zhe's voice manipulated Su Nuo, urging him to kill Su Mo to claim the title of Emperor of the Sea and gain the dragon deity's power.
Su Mo tried to reason with Su Nuo, warning him not to be controlled. However, Su Nuo proved to be no match for Su Mo. Frustrated by Su Nuo's failure, Zhi Zhe, in a fit of rage, killed Su Nuo himself. As Su Nuo's form vanished, Su Mo automatically ascended, receiving memories of past Sea Emperors and successfully acquiring the long-awaited dragon deity's power.
The Quanxian people rejoiced, kneeling before their Emperor, but Su Mo felt no joy, realizing the heavy cost of this power—the loss of his own brother. Seeing Su Mo safe, Bai Ying quietly departed.
