Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Episode 30 Recap
> Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities Recap
Yu Zhu escorted Bai Ying to the Heavenly Temple to meet Zhi Zhe. Bai Ying, surprised to see the Water Mirror active in the Mirror Pagoda, wondered who other than the High Priest could open it and who resided there. She mused that the news of her capture by Yu Huan must have spread across Yunhuang, hoping Zhen Lan had returned safely, and felt an urgent need to escape to help Su Mo.
Meanwhile, Master Peng angrily confronted Yu Zhu, demanding to know why Zhi Zhe had brought Kongsang's Princess Bai to the top of the pagoda. Yu Zhu claimed ignorance, insisting she only followed Zhi Zhe's instructions to bring Bai Ying to the Heavenly Temple and knew nothing more. Master Peng, growing increasingly enraged, accused Yu Zhu and her younger brother of hiding things from him, calling them disobedient wolf cubs who should be eliminated.
Separately, Shi Lang and Shi Luo speculated on Zhi Zhe's strange recent behavior, wondering if he was relaying all his instructions directly to Yu Huan through Yu Zhu. Zhi Zhe appeared before Bai Ying, addressing her as "A'Wei" and asking if she still recognized him after 7,000 years. Bai Ying, in turn, asked if he was Zhi Zhe. He admitted to briefly mistaking her for "her" and then asked if Bai Ying was like "her."
Zhi Zhe noticed the Sun Protection Pearl Bai Ying wore, revealing that the Emperor of the Sea, Su Mo, had created it by sacrificing part of his spiritual essence, allowing her to walk in the sun. He explained that for every day Bai Ying wore the pearl, Su Mo's spiritual knowledge was burned by sunlight.
Bai Ying realized the immense sacrifice Su Mo had made, recalling how he had once said nothing was more important than her seeing the sun again. As Zhi Zhe attempted to seize the pearl, it resisted, protected by a spell Su Mo had placed within it. Zhi Zhe then instructed Bai Ying to summon Su Mo, certain that if they controlled Bai Ying, Su Mo would come to her rescue, making him easy to capture.
At the same time, Su Mo remained unconscious. Si Shi emerged from the void to heal him, instructing others to leave. Though Su Mo briefly awoke, sensing Bai Ying's danger, Si Shi observed an unusually potent and strange spiritual energy within him that she could not approach. Su Mo, confused, wondered if his recent experience was a dream and if Bai Ying was truly in danger.
After he fully regained consciousness, he asked about the Heaven-Defying Sword from Jiuyi Mountain, confirming he had obtained it and intended to address the Dragon Deity Seal. He inquired about Kongsang's situation and asked for Yan Xi to return, insisting on action despite his injuries. Back in Kongsang, Zhen Lan rushed to the High Priest, urging him to open the Water Mirror to locate Bai Ying.
The High Priest revealed Bai Ying was in the Mirror Pagoda, but a barrier prevented any internal probing. He questioned Zhi Zhe's motives and suggested Zhen Lan seek help from the Emperor of the Sea. Zhen Lan, however, was reluctant, stating that Su Mo already knew about the fate of the six princes and might not join their fight. He declared he would rely on his own people to rescue Bai Ying.
The High Priest admitted to having concealed the truth about the six princes' annihilation from Zhen Lan, who, despite his anger, prioritized Bai Ying's rescue. Zhi Zhe continued to taunt Bai Ying, acknowledging Su Mo's power but deeming his cultivation shallow. He reiterated that the Sun Protection Pearl could only protect her temporarily, offering to give her more potent energy that would make her immune to sunlight permanently.
Through the pearl, Su Mo, unheard by Zhi Zhe, warned Bai Ying and instructed her to ask Zhi Zhe about his past actions with the pearl. When Bai Ying questioned Zhi Zhe about the pearl, he deflected, stating it would be uninteresting to explain. Bai Ying pressed on, asking how he knew the Mirror Splitting Technique, as Kongsang people had never possessed such a skill. Zhi Zhe dismissed Su Mo as foolish for using his limited cultivation for her.
Bai Ying, inwardly recognizing Su Mo's selfless act, vowed to protect him. Zhi Zhe then revealed that he and the five masters had constructed a massive barrier at Jiuyi Mountain, ensuring neither the Emperor of the Sea nor the Crown Prince of Kongsang could overcome it, planning to capture them all.
Su Mo, still communicating through the pearl, urged Bai Ying not to worry, assuring her he was inside the pearl and their priority was to find a way to escape. Meanwhile, Si Shi explained to Su Mo's attendants that his coma was caused by multiple conflicting powers and vicious evil energies entangling within him, a result of his spiritual knowledge resonating with another force. After extracting the evil energy, Si Shi noted its unprecedented nature.
Su Mo, partially recovered, instructed Ning Liang to care for Si Shi and rushed to the Mirror Pagoda to save Bai Ying, still needing to acquire the dragon deity's power. Zhi Zhe, anticipating a rescue attempt, mused whether the Emperor of the Sea or Crown Prince of Kongsang would come to their demise first. Zhen Lan and Xi Jing arrived at the Heavenly Temple, Xi Jing noting the eerie absence of guards. They encountered the impenetrable barrier.
Following Su Mo's earlier advice to avoid being probed, Bai Ying shifted the conversation to Queen Bai Wei. Zhi Zhe, consumed by remorse, confessed he was the one who harmed her. He spoke of Bai Wei's two departures: once lost at sea, whom he searched for across Yunhuang and found in the Biluo Sea, and the second time, her death.
Su Mo, still communicating through the pearl, expressed skepticism about Zhi Zhe finding Bai Wei in the Biluo Sea, which had been sealed 7,000 years ago. He prompted Bai Ying to ask Zhi Zhe how long he had lived. Zhi Zhe calmly replied 7,000 years, declaring that time had lost all meaning for him. He then recited poetry attributed to King Xingzun and handed Bai Ying a ripped page with a portrait, claiming she was exactly like Bai Wei.
Bai Ying became entranced, prompting Su Mo to urgently warn her to stay clear-headed and not be swayed. As Zhen Lan used his power to breach the barrier, Zhi Zhe swiftly turned and struck him down. Roused by the conflict, Bai Ying retaliated with a blow that knocked Zhi Zhe down. However, Zhi Zhe, possessing powerful magic, quickly recovered and launched a fierce assault on Bai Ying's Sun Protection Pearl, aiming to defeat Su Mo.
Su Mo, bolstered by Si Shi's lingering power, counterattacked, repelling Zhi Zhe. This effort allowed Su Mo's physical body to fully awaken, and he departed to rescue Bai Ying. Bai Ying attempted to escape, but Zhi Zhe quickly re-established a barrier, trapping her. Thinking quickly, Bai Ying pretended to be Bai Wei and pleaded with Zhi Zhe to take her back. Deceived, Zhi Zhe lowered the barrier.
Bai Ying seized the opportunity to escape and was met by the arriving Su Mo, who whisked her away. However, Su Mo immediately fell unconscious again due to the backlash from the pearl. Realizing his suffering, Bai Ying removed the Sun Protection Pearl and returned it to him to prevent further harm. Su Mo quickly regained consciousness.
Bai Ying chided him for his silent sacrifices, but Su Mo insisted they were insignificant to him; all that mattered was her willingness to stay by his side. Deeply moved, Bai Ying embraced him, and they shared a tearful embrace. Meanwhile, Zhen Lan remained unconscious from Zhi Zhe's attack. The High Priest informed the others that unsealing another imperial power would restore Zhen Lan.
Na Sheng bravely volunteered to go to the Ghost and Deity Abyss with the Dispel Water Pearl to break the seal, despite knowing the life-threatening dangers involved. Xi Jing agreed, noting that after this, only the seal on the Mirror Pagoda would remain. He also acknowledged the unavoidable fate of the six kings turning to ashes, a decision they had made a century ago without hesitation. Xi Jing then escorted Na Sheng to the Abyss.
Separately, Shi Peng received a secret message from Nanzhao, reporting that Fei Lian had colluded with Quanxian and was being escorted to the capital. Shi Peng saw this as a golden opportunity to reclaim what he believed was rightfully his. Shi Lang and Shi Luo discussed Bai Ying's escape and the lack of an order to recapture her, suspecting Yu Zhu might be concealing or falsifying Zhi Zhe's orders for her ambitious brother, Yu Huan.
