Upon arriving at the office, Ning Meng was informed that Xu Sitian was also present and had been frequently mentioning Ning Meng to Shi Ying. Ning Meng found it odd how unusually polite Xu Sitian was towards Shi Ying. Ning Meng then reported to Shi Ying that Yuanyuan Real Estate’s financial status indeed had problems, noting that while it was hard to say if there was outright fraud, their liquidity was definitely inflated.
Xu Sitian, however, dismissed it as a minor issue that could be resolved with money, proposing that Yuanyuan’s majority shareholder lend 30 million yuan to the company to resolve the liquidity problem. Ning Meng found Xu Sitian’s casual attitude unbelievable, but Shi Ying reassured her, stating that such an operation was normal and compliant. While Shi Ying stepped out to take a call, Xu Sitian discreetly urged Ning Meng to speak to Lu Jiming on behalf of the project.
Xu Sitian admitted that she had overlapping interests with Yuanyuan Real Estate, having introduced them for a capital increase, and she also wanted them as a limited partner for her RV park. She felt she should avoid getting involved directly with Lu Jiming and emphasized his tendency to listen to Ning Meng, citing his rejection of her RV park project as an example.
Before Ning Meng could respond, Xu Sitian unilaterally declared to a returning Shi Ying that Ning Meng had agreed. Ning Meng tried to express her skepticism about Yuanyuan Real Estate’s instability, noting she had observed poor management issues, and felt Lu Jiming’s concerns were valid. Shi Ying intervened, suggesting they take a day to cool off before making a final decision.
After Xu Sitian left, Shi Ying reminded Ning Meng that the decision was ultimately hers, but she stressed the importance of effective communication, revealing that Lu Jiming actually valued Ning Meng’s input. Hesitant after her conversation with Shi Ying and feeling pressured, Ning Meng sought advice from her friends over the phone. Ning Meng finally called Lu Jiming, who immediately stated he knew why she was calling and would not change his mind about replacing the limited partner. Ning Meng realized he was using his opponent's recklessness to find an opportunity to counterattack and win, understanding that being too eager for a quick victory could lead to losing the entire match. Following this epiphany, Ning Meng immediately called Shi Ying to state her agreement with Lu Jiming’s decision to replace the limited partner. She asserted that integrity was the bottom line and that like in a competition, an ill-timed offense was reckless and would expose weaknesses and risks.
Pleased with Ning Meng's resolve, Shi Ying agreed with her decision and promised to inform the others. Later, Xu Sitian confronted Ning Meng outside her home, accusing her of sabotaging her projects. Xu Sitian called Ning Meng two-faced and mockingly claimed she only lived in Shi Ying’s house because Shi Ying pitied her, implying Ning Meng was backstabbing her benefactor. Just then, Zeng Yuhang arrived and intervened.
Afterward, Ning Meng learned that Xu Sitian’s desperation to prove herself stemmed from her patriarchal family, as her father intended to leave the family business entirely to her younger brother. One day, Ning Meng went to Jiming Capital and found Lu Jiming scolding Xu Sitian for her lack of thorough due diligence and recklessness. Deeply upset, Xu Sitian retreated to the restroom to cry but found she had no tissues. Ning Meng, passing by, offered her a pack.
She then deliberately provoked Xu Sitian, questioning why, despite her claims of superiority, she was the one crying. This prompted a candid conversation, and Xu Sitian invited Ning Meng for drinks. Over drinks, Xu Sitian apologized for her past animosity, admitting she had mistakenly believed Lu Jiming had romantic feelings for Ning Meng. The two bonded over their shared grievances about Lu Jiming’s harsh but well-intentioned nature.
Inebriated, Xu Sitian declared Ning Meng her "buddy" and decided to abandon her romantic pursuit of Lu Jiming to focus on her career. Ning Meng called Zeng Yuhang to pick up the very drunk Xu Sitian, who was touched by his unwavering support for her new career goals. The new private placement project was successfully completed, with Ning Meng demonstrating exceptional competence in liaising with the new limited partner.
Afterward, she encountered Lu Jiming and sincerely thanked him for his support, having learned from Shi Ying that it was he who had suggested she remain in charge of the project. Lu Jiming playfully admitted he had also asked Shi Ying to pretend there was a problem to see her reaction.
He then offered Zeng Yuhang a lucrative opportunity to provide bridging capital for a company, making it clear the offer was a way to help both him and Xu Sitian. With the project concluded, the Christmas holidays were approaching. To thank Lu Jiming for the business opportunity, Zeng Yuhang and Xu Sitian decided to treat him to a holiday dinner and invited Ning Meng to join.
