Love Through a Millennium Episode 4 Recap
> Love Through a Millennium Recap
Lin Xiangxiang returned to the hospital in a state of distress, trying to explain to Jin Jing and Xia Xiaonan that Gong Ming had genuinely vanished into thin air right before her eyes. Jin Jing, however, dismissed her claims as rambling, and angrily confronted Lin Xiangxiang for spoiling her meeting with Zhao Nana, grabbing her and scolding her, to which Lin Xiangxiang apologized.
Meanwhile, Han Yufei met Zhao Nana for dinner, hoping to persuade her to be lenient with Lin Xiangxiang. Zhao Nana, still pondering Gong Ming's earlier remarks about her appearance, questioned Han Yufei if she indeed looked "peculiar." Han Yufei praised her as the most beautiful actress he knew. Zhao Nana then recounted how Lin Xiangxiang had come to her and verbally attacked her manners, while Zhao Nana's assistant added that Lin Xiangxiang had even slapped her.
Despite this, Han Yufei continued to defend Lin Xiangxiang, acknowledging her impulsive nature but stressing her good heart. In the Western Han Dynasty, Zhao Feiyan severed her alliance with the Wang family, a move seen as a betrayal, though she promised Wang Mang favorable treatment once she became Empress. She attempted to seduce Wang Mang, but the latter remained unmoved.
Wang Mang then gravely advised Gong Ming to stop aiding Empress Xu, warning that the Wang family would otherwise destroy him. Recognizing their irreconcilable political differences, Wang Mang lamented that they had finally reached a point of no return. As they parted ways, Gong Ming exchanged the Taoist priest, who had framed Empress Xu, for Ying Yue. Influenced by Han Yufei's intervention, Zhao Nana agreed to allow Lin Xiangxiang back into the drama production.
Separately, Jin Jing covertly bribed the director to ensure Lin Xiangxiang would be well-cared for on set. Later, alone, Lin Xiangxiang found herself consumed by thoughts of Gong Ming, bewildered and upset by his sudden disappearance. Gong Ming explained to Ying Yue that whenever he faced mortal danger, the jade pendant would transport him two millennia into the future. Ying Yue was astonished, also finding Gong Ming's short hair profoundly inexplicable.
Gong Ming affirmed his ability to traverse time and declared his intent to use this power to alter the current political situation. To demonstrate and initiate another journey, Gong Ming instructed Ying Yue to stab him with a knife. Following this, Gong Ming reappeared in the modern era and immediately sought out Lin Xiangxiang's hospital room. Han Yufei arrived to pick up Lin Xiangxiang, who was being discharged.
Unexpectedly, he and Xia Xiaonan encountered Gong Ming, who was looking for Lin Xiangxiang. Recalling Lin Xiangxiang's earlier tales of seeing a man in ancient clothes and subsequently fainting, Han Yufei and Xia Xiaonan quickly suspected Gong Ming was a "perverted stalker" and alerted hospital security. Gong Ming, however, vanished from their sight.
As Han Yufei then called Lin Xiangxiang to warn her about the "stalker," Gong Ming reappeared beside Lin Xiangxiang and pulled her aside, urgently requesting her help in finding historical records about the Dahan Dynasty. Lin Xiangxiang agreed to take him to a library. As they walked to the library, it began to rain. Lin Xiangxiang shared her umbrella, but Gong Ming initially tried to maintain a distance, citing the traditional custom that "men and women should not touch."
Lin Xiangxiang playfully dismissed this, taking his hand and pulling him closer under the umbrella. Noticing her flushed face, Gong Ming mistakenly attributed it to a chill and felt guilty. Lin Xiangxiang then took Gong Ming to a store to buy modern clothes. He was initially reluctant, finding them "strange attire," but conceded at her insistence. Dressed in modern attire, Gong Ming looked remarkably handsome and refined.
A store clerk, observing them, assumed they were a couple, which secretly pleased Lin Xiangxiang. Later, in a taxi, as they listened to music, Han Yufei called Lin Xiangxiang, but she quickly gave a brief excuse and ended the call. At the library, Lin Xiangxiang found a copy of "Hanshu" for Gong Ming, allowing him to research events from "The first year of Yongshi."
Gong Ming was visibly anxious as he prepared to read, describing it as "a moment of going against heaven's will." His shock grew as he discovered that Emperor Cheng of the Han Dynasty had not only established Zhao Feiyan as Empress but had also ordered the death of Empress Xu. He asked Lin Xiangxiang in disbelief if these historical accounts were true.
Overwhelmed with sadness and a sense of failure for being unable to uphold righteousness in his time, Gong Ming lamented that destiny was unchangeable. Lin Xiangxiang, however, offered a different perspective. She cheerfully suggested that his meeting her was a sign of destiny, and encouraged him to return and alter history. She highlighted the profound coincidence that he sought to save Empress Xu, and in her world, he encountered her, an actress portraying Empress Xu in a drama.
Worried that she might never see him again, Lin Xiangxiang tightly held Gong Ming's hand, expressing her sorrow that he lacked modern communication methods like phones or social media. Gong Ming, having retrieved the jade pendant earlier, changed back into his ancient clothes, preparing to depart. As he was about to leave, Lin Xiangxiang suddenly rushed forward, enveloping him in a deep, heartfelt embrace, unwilling to leave any regrets.
