Lin Xiangxiang sought help from a psychologist as her memories of Gong Ming grew increasingly hazy, making her doubt if she had ever truly met him. The psychologist suggested that her recollections of Gong Ming were illusory, a byproduct of her deep immersion in her role as Empress Xu, leading her to imagine the historical figure who aided the Empress.

However, Xiangxiang vehemently insisted on the vivid reality of her memories, recalling every word spoken and every action taken with him, and the undeniable feeling in her heart. She even remembered Gong Ming giving her a ring and her tying a red thread on his wrist before he returned to the Han Dynasty, questioning if these deeply personal moments were mere fantasies.

Despite this, she also acknowledged that during the filming of her current drama, she and Han Yufei had reconciled. Meanwhile, in the Western Han Dynasty, Gong Ming fell severely ill on his journey back to Chang'an, compelling Ying Yue to find him temporary refuge at the home of his mentor, Lord Zhang. At the same time, Wang Mang confronted Zi Xiu, who had repeatedly failed to obey orders to kill Gong Ming.

Zi Xiu explained that Gong Ming was not dead, but had lost his memory after being stabbed. He further revealed Gong Ming's mystical ability to vanish when attacked, hinting at witchcraft. Zi Xiu then presented Wang Mang with Gong Ming's shattered jade pendant, asserting that he only managed to wound Gong Ming after the pendant broke.

Wang Mang, intrigued, read an inscription on the jade: "Time changes, the world changes, encounter death and live," and recognized the pendant's immense importance to Gong Ming, noting his frantic search for it. At his mentor’s residence, Gong Ming was urged to rest and recover, with assurances that any vital forgotten memories would eventually resurface.

Gong Ming, however, expressed concern for Ying Yue's future, wishing to find a good family for her, as he felt he couldn't keep her by his side indefinitely. His mentor, perceiving a deeper connection, challenged Gong Ming’s claim that Ying Yue was merely like a sister to him, pressing him to confront his true feelings. Back in the modern world, Lin Xiangxiang returned to filming, actively avoiding Han Yufei's attempts at reconciliation.

Nevertheless, Jin Jing and other colleagues orchestrated opportunities for the couple to mend their relationship, including a dinner. Han Yufei recounted their first meeting and how he pursued her. Afterward, Jin Jing and the others strategically left them alone. Han Yufei later walked Xiangxiang home and, in a contrived attempt to draw her closer, faked a scary phone call, prompting her to grab his hand in fear.

He then proposed they start anew, promising to help her retrieve her lost memories. Xiangxiang, though still hesitant, agreed to try her best. One month after losing his memories, Gong Ming felt an unsettling sense of having forgotten something profoundly important. He inquired of Ying Yue if she would continue to accompany him, given her marriageable age. Ying Yue, fearing he would recall past events and regret his offer, asked for time to deliberate.

Gong Ming later inadvertently uttered a phrase about "the Empress finally returning to the Phoenix throne," causing Ying Yue to react with surprise. He questioned if this thought was a delusion, noting his month-long amnesia. An inexplicable pull led Gong Ming to the meeting spot he had shared with Lin Xiangxiang in the modern world.

When Ying Yue found him, she confessed her desire for a formal title, rather than just being a shadow in his life, despite believing herself an unworthy match. Gong Ming embraced her. Lin Xiangxiang, waiting forlornly at their designated meeting place, found Gong Ming never arrived. Han Yufei eventually located her, concerned that she was still fixated on "that non-existent person."

Weeping, Xiangxiang lamented Gong Ming's absence, clinging to their month-long promise, and began to question if her entire experience with him was a hallucination. Han Yufei consoled her, urging her to forget Gong Ming for their shared future. Back in the Han Dynasty, Gong Ming, now reinstated to his official post, sought an audience with Emperor Cheng. He advocated for the restoration of Empress Xu, highlighting her twenty years of loyal service and inner virtues.

Emperor Cheng promised to consider the request, though he was puzzled when Gong Ming, in a moment of confusion, referred to his own stubbornness as being a "Taurus." Gong Ming then visited Empress Xu, who was relieved to see him. She joyfully spoke of a secret "event that night," known only to them.

This comment triggered a fragmented recollection in Gong Ming’s mind, making him confused and deeply distressed, fearing he had committed an act of grave disrespect towards the Emperor by harboring inappropriate feelings for the Empress or mistaking someone else for her. Ying Yue, witnessing Gong Ming’s profound torment over his forgotten past, confided in his mentor, Lord Zhang.

The mentor reiterated his strict warning against ever mentioning the modern world or the jade pendant, deeming such revelations a violation of the will of Heaven. He emphasized that since the jade pendant was lost and Gong Ming had no memory of it, it was best to leave things undisturbed to avoid divine punishment, also acknowledging Ying Yue’s deep, almost infatuated, love for Gong Ming.

Meanwhile, Wang Mang continued to pore over the broken jade pendant, recalling Zi Xiu’s accounts of its miraculous ability to protect Gong Ming, and resolved to unlock its secrets. Later, at a party celebrating Han Yufei’s TV star nomination, he presented Lin Xiangxiang with a new necklace. Xiangxiang, though previously unwilling, reluctantly removed the couple ring she wore around her neck—the one Gong Ming had given her—to accept Han Yufei's gift, urged by Jin Jing.

Han Yufei then announced his intention to walk the red carpet with Xiangxiang at the upcoming L'Oréal Paris Stylish Man's Night award ceremony, publicly confirming their relationship. Despite some hesitation, Xiangxiang agreed. As Lin Xiangxiang and Han Yufei made their grand entrance on the red carpet, Gong Ming suddenly appeared from the crowd. He walked directly to Lin Xiangxiang, placed a ring in her hand, and, looking into her eyes, apologized for his delay.
