After Lu Jing arrives at Liang Chen's apartment, she chides him for informally using her full name. Noticing Lu Jing's cough, Liang Chen grows concerned, warning him about getting sick and suggesting a hospital visit. Lu Jing dismisses the idea, citing hospital crowds and his worry that she might be recognized. He accepts some hot water from her, and when she asks about medicine, he says he doesn't have any, suggesting ginger tea might help.
Liang Chen immediately offers to make some. Liang Chen goes to her neighbor Taro's apartment to borrow ginger, where she unexpectedly finds Ding Jiayun. After explaining she needs to make ginger tea for an unwell friend, Ding Jiayun insists on preparing it himself. He later delivers the tea to Liang Chen's apartment, claiming he made it and urging her to leave with him since Lu Jing should be fine after drinking it.
Seeing this, Lu Jing suddenly feigns dizziness and a worsening cough. A concerned Liang Chen tells Ding Jiayun to go home first while she stays to care for Lu Jing. Before leaving, Ding Jiayun reluctantly hands the tea to Liang Chen. Later, while refilling Lu Jing's cup, Liang Chen notices a birthday gift on the table with wishes for "Xiao Jing" and realizes it's Lu Jing's 22nd birthday. She wishes him a happy birthday, bringing a smile to his face.
That night, both Liang Chen and Lu Jing fall asleep holding the scarves they had given each other. The next morning, Liang Chen’s assistant wakes her well past noon, reminding her of an afternoon recording. The assistant teases her for sleeping with the scarf, but Liang Chen tells her to mind her own business, her voice sounding unusually rough. Meanwhile, Lu Jing celebrates his birthday with his roommates.
The celebration is interrupted by a call from his friend Liu Shun, who needs help with a faulty program Lu Jing designed. On his way to help, Lu Jing briefly runs into Qi Qi at a restaurant. His friends later tease him for missing the opportunity with a "decent girl" like her in favor of his online romance.
They then reveal that Qi Qi has been taking care of Gu Fei Ming, who, they heard, intentionally made himself sick by taking a cold shower just to get her attention. At the hospital, Gu Fei Ming is discharged, having successfully used his self-induced illness to spend time with Qi Qi. Later, Liang Chen stops by a cafe, her throat feeling dry. She is surprised to see Lu Jing and playfully wonders if he came just for her.
Lu Jing approaches, admitting he was waiting for her before clarifying he was there to fix a program for someone. Her assistant teases her for blushing and fiddling with her hair. Soon after, Ding Jiayun arrives for their scheduled meeting to discuss an event script. During their discussion, Lu Jing flirts with Liang Chen, distracting her and making her blush. Her throat troubles her, and she begins to cough. Liang Chen's coughing worsens during her recording session.
Ding Jiayun expresses concern and suggests postponing, but she insists on finishing. Afterward, he advises her to see a doctor and has her assistant, Liu Yiqing, take her to the hospital. The doctor diagnoses her with vocal cord polyps, explaining the serious dilemma: forgoing surgery carries a risk of cancer, but surgery could permanently alter her voice. Liang Chen tries to downplay the diagnosis to her friend, claiming she just needs rest.
However, Ding Jiayun, having spoken with the doctor, confronts her with the truth, insisting that surgery is necessary due to the high cancer risk for a singer. Liang Chen voices her fear of her voice changing, but he tries to reassure her. Alone, she researches the surgery and confirms her fears.
She attempts to console herself with alternative career paths like songwriting or dancing and even feels a moment of relief after her voice sounds better during a prank call, but a hospital text message brings her back to the reality of needing surgery. Feeling overwhelmed, Liang Chen makes a series of calls, asking people if they would come to her "farewell concert." Her parents, distracted by a massage, don't hear her properly, and Taro sleepily declines.
Finally, she calls Lu Jing. He answers instantly, saying he was waiting for her. When she asks if he will come to her concert, he agrees immediately, no questions asked. She tells him to start heading over, and he replies that he is already on his way.
