Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Episode 33 Recap
> Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Recap
Ding Yunqi and his companions pitched their tents for the night, acutely aware of the safety concerns in the remote wilderness. Sun Sanxuan had strung bells nearby, designed to alert them if anyone approached. Before the group could rest, sounds emerged from the forest. Luo Yunsong, Ding Yunqi, and Sun Sanxuan went to investigate, while Wu Shuang and He Biao remained behind to protect San Jin and Chu Fengling.
He Biao first directed Chu Fengling to her assigned tent, then spoke about his sole concern: everyone's safety. Later, Luo Yunsong expressed his gratitude to He Biao for his unwavering dedication, even in matters of unrequited love. Luo Yunsong entrusted He Biao with Chu Fengling's protection, referring to her as his sister and emphasizing his profound trust in He Biao to safeguard her should he himself meet an unfortunate end.
He Biao, however, adamantly stated that such a scenario would not occur. As Ding Yunqi and the others pursued the sounds in the forest, they caught sight of a young man, strangely dressed in what appeared to be Song Dynasty attire, who warned them to leave the area, declaring it unsuitable for mortals and threatening their lives if they remained.
Back at the camp, Chu Fengling, feeling targeted, refused to retreat to her tent, accusing the others of wanting to abandon her. Wu Shuang firmly instructed both Chu Fengling and San Jin to return to the tent, explaining that an unknown enemy would find it harder to locate them there.
Ding Yunqi deduced that the man they had seen was likely a descendant of people from the Song Dynasty, tasked with guarding the area, and decided they needed to explore deeper the following day to find their settlement. The next morning, Ding Yunqi, Wu Shuang, Luo Yunsong, and Sun Sanxuan ventured further. They discovered a smoke bomb, which Sun Sanxuan and Luo Yunsong identified as similar to those used by the Ghoul sect.
Ding Yunqi wondered if members of the Penta-sect were involved. Following signs of human activity, they soon stumbled into an ambush. As arrows rained down, Ding Yunqi employed his "willow catkins" technique, striking several attackers. Yu Shiqi, the leader of the defending villagers, immediately ordered a halt, recognizing the unique move. Ding Yunqi then announced his identity as the son of Ding Yuanshan, the last Heaven Official, and presented the Heaven Official's Soul Pursuit Order as proof.
Yu Shiqi and Yu Shijiu, his companion, recognized the token and introduced themselves. Ding Yunqi explained that his father had spoken of a branch of the Ding family who had changed their surname to Yu, adding an extra stroke meaning "lifetime," to guard the headquarters for generations. To confirm their shared ancestry, Ding Yunqi and Yu Shiqi recited the Ding family's ancestral rules together.
Yu Shiqi then led Ding Yunqi to the headquarters, explaining its sacred nature as the resting place for ancestral tablets, accessible only to a succeeding Heaven Official carrying a deceased predecessor's tablet. Therefore, only Ding Yunqi was permitted entry to place his father's tablet. Ding Yunqi agreed and used his Soul Pursuit Order to open the gate of the Bronze House. Inside, Yu Shiqi revealed two crucial mechanisms.
The main gate could be opened by the Soul Pursuit Order or a star map, but any incorrect manipulation of the star map would cause the gate to permanently lock, trapping anyone inside. Ding Yunqi confirmed that the star map's key was a verbally transmitted secret, lost centuries ago due to a Heaven Official's unexpected death, making its discovery a matter of fate.
The second mechanism was located beneath the central memorial tablet; turning it would trigger a collapse of the entire cave. After learning this, Ding Yunqi engraved his father's name and reverently placed Ding Yuanshan's memorial tablet. As they exited, Ding Yunqi inquired about the Yu family's secluded existence.
Yu Shiqi explained that their extensive cave system had areas open to natural light, allowing them to cultivate fields using soil brought in by their ancestors, providing ample sustenance for their small population. He further explained that the headquarters' entrance, hidden within Dulong Cave, was only revealed during the "abnormal scene of blood moon," an event that occurred every three years, causing the river tides to recede.
It was this rare event, occurring the previous night, that allowed Ding Yunqi to find them. Ding Yunqi expressed concern that their arrival might disrupt the Yu family's long-standing peace. He then discussed with Yu Shiqi a plan to use the Heaven Official's headquarters to draw out Tian Long. Meanwhile, Tian Long's forces were close behind. Discovering the group's hidden car with fuel, Tian Long deduced that they must have continued their journey by water.
He dispatched his subordinates to a nearby fishing village to gather information on anyone who had recently rented boats. At the temporary camp, Ding Yunqi began preparing to use himself as bait to lure Tian Long. He entrusted Sun Sanxuan with the task of sending San Jin away, arranging for Yang Aiwu to escort him. Ding Yunqi wrote a genuine farewell letter to San Jin but enclosed it within a misleading outer envelope, making it seem like a simple errand.
San Jin, believing he was merely undertaking a short mission for a few days to deliver a message and hunt for wild game, cheerfully said his goodbyes to Ding Yunqi, promising a swift return. While He Biao and San Jin were out, Chu Fengling deliberately started a large fire, attempting to signal Her Ladyship's people. He Biao, noticing the smoke, quickly rushed back to extinguish it, scolding Chu Fengling for potentially exposing their location.
Chu Fengling insisted she only intended to make a fire, feeling isolated by his distrust. Upon his return, Ding Yunqi saw the extinguished fire, understood their position was compromised, and immediately ordered everyone to relocate to a new campsite. Tian Long's disciple soon reported back, having found a fisherman who confirmed transporting two women and five men across the river to a cave entrance beneath Tianlong Mountain, recently exposed by the receding tides of the blood moon.
Tian Long recognized this as a vital development, confirming his suspicions, and prepared his forces to cross the river. He Biao, despite his exasperation with Chu Fengling, continued his vigil. Chu Fengling tried to glean information from him about Ding Yunqi's plans and San Jin's departure. However, He Biao purposefully claimed ignorance, explaining that he deliberately avoided hearing sensitive details to prevent her from inadvertently revealing them, subtly acknowledging her intelligence. He then carved a wooden fox for her.
Chu Fengling remarked on her miserable situation, feeling watched and kept in the dark, to which He Biao wryly retorted that she was the one who acted like a fox. Tian Long's men cautiously approached the area where the smoke had been, under strict orders to remain undetected, as Ding Yunqi was known for his cunning. Tian Long surveyed the terrain, noting the strategic significance of Bawang Xiejia.
