Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Episode 13 Recap
> Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Recap
Zhou Qiuhai expressed his desire to negotiate for Wu Shuang's release. Ding Yunqi countered, questioning what they could possibly offer in exchange when Commander Hu commanded thousands of armed men. While acknowledging Zhou Qiuhai's points about Hu's military strength, Ding Yunqi highlighted Zhou's misunderstanding of Hu's true objective. He asserted that Commander Hu's ultimate desire was the elusive Kunlun Mountains, which meant Wu Shuang, as a key to it, was far from insignificant to him.
Therefore, any exchange for Wu Shuang would inevitably involve the Kunlun Mountains. Ding Yunqi then revealed that hundreds of sappers were already openly digging and had reached the sealing earth layer, indicating the tomb gate would be opened within a day or two. He warned that Commander Hu would make a move once the tomb was open, making it difficult for Wu Shuang to escape harm and creating more unpredictable variables.
Recognizing the urgency, Ding Yunqi proposed to Zhou Qiuhai that they put aside their past grievances and cooperate to save Wu Shuang. Zhou Qiuhai agreed, pledging to share information and plans. Ding Yunqi then requested Her Ladyship's address, learning that she was currently in Nanjing and her return date was unknown. Zhou Qiuhai provided the address and offered him Plain Noodles, dismissing his thanks as unnecessary given the circumstances.
Meanwhile, in prison, Wu Shuang couldn't rest, wondering what Ding Yunqi was doing. When Chu Fengling asked if she regretted coming up the mountain against Ding Yunqi's advice, Wu Shuang firmly stated she had no regrets, explaining that Luo Yunsong had promised to return the dragon bone if she opened the Small Kunlun. Chu Fengling then questioned if she was after the dragon bone or the engagement.
Wu Shuang saw them as one and the same, believing that returning the dragon bone to Ding Yunqi with her own hands might make him acknowledge their betrothal. Frustrated by her current predicament, she expressed anger at being imprisoned. Chu Fengling promised to help her retrieve the dragon bone even if Commander Hu got hold of it. Wu Shuang reiterated her traditional belief that a betrothed girl must marry.
She further explained the rules of the Mound-digging sect: women could only marry Kunlun Heaven Officials, leaving her no choice but to marry Ding Yunqi or remain single forever. She confessed her childhood dream of having her own home and living a normal life. The more experienced Hei Gu, who was also imprisoned, concluded that Ding Yunqi liked Wu Shuang, observing his consistent prioritization of her safety.
Chu Fengling agreed, noting that he was even willing to forsake the dragon bone to protect her. This pleased Wu Shuang, who admitted her affection for Ding Yunqi, praising his character and martial arts skills, and expressing her satisfaction with him as a husband. Elsewhere, Ding Yunqi was distressed, searching for his missing comb, an amulet he valued greatly.
He reflected on his father's words about men of the Ding family being born to be responsible, acknowledging his own tendency to "show off." Commander Hu brought Luo Jiutian out for a meal, sarcastically calling it his "last meal." Luo Jiutian, reflecting on his failures, admitted that his "foundation is unstable." Despite facing death, he tried to deduce the dumpling's "Tofu stuffing" flavor, which surprised Hu. Hu offered a chance if Luo Jiutian had anything useful to say.
Luo Jiutian, seizing the opportunity, offered his loyalty. Hu then inquired about the dragon bone in Luo Yunsong's possession. Luo Jiutian admitted his brother had it but claimed he couldn't find it at home, implying Luo Yunsong was hiding it elsewhere. Hu gave Luo Jiutian an ultimatum: find the bone, or they would "never meet again." Before leaving, Luo Jiutian checked his appearance, asking if there was any vegetable on his teeth.
Hu then mused to his subordinate that if Luo Yunsong refused to hand over the dragon bone, he would execute Luo Jiutian to send a warning. Later, Luo Jiutian was brought back to the prison cell where he staged a dramatic farewell performance, singing excerpts from "Farewell My Concubine." He addressed Wu Shuang as Yuji, much to everyone's confusion. A guard then clarified that Luo Jiutian was about to be executed.
Realizing this was his final goodbye, Luo Jiutian tearfully asked Wu Shuang if she would marry him in the afterlife. Receiving no answer, he took her silence as consent, vowing to wait for her by the bridge to hell. As he was led away, Chu Fengling cried out, attempting to make a phone call to save him, while a grieving Luo Yunsong invoked the lament of Xiang Yu, calling out his brother's name.
Commander Hu confronted Luo Jiutian again, asking if he had retrieved the dragon bone. Luo Jiutian calmly replied that he hadn't asked, but had instead said goodbye to his friends. He explained that asking Luo Yunsong for the dragon bone would be futile, as it was his group's "life-preserving object," which his brother would never give up for him. Facing death, Luo Jiutian declared that he would "leave first to wait for my little lover on the bridge to hell."
Commander Hu, somewhat impressed by his transformation into a real man, called him a "spoony" and personally prepared to execute him. As the executioners prepared, Luo Jiutian bravely requested to die standing. Commander Hu granted his request. Before the shot, Luo Jiutian's last concern was if his "hairstyle" was okay. A shot rang out, and Luo Jiutian fell.
In their cell, Luo Yunsong, hearing the shot, vowed vengeance, stating that as long as he lived, Commander Hu was a dead man. He deduced that Hu's execution of Jiutian was a message of impatience, confirming Hu's primary goal was the dragon bone and, by extension, the Kunlun Mountains.
Luo Yunsong resolved to play a waiting game, knowing that giving up the dragon bone would mean certain death for them all, while holding onto it offered "some room to turn around." Ding Yunqi, having conveyed the situation to Her Ladyship's lieutenant, expressed his hope for her swift intervention. He questioned Zhou Qiuhai about why the Penta-sect ancestors left behind treasures that only incited conflict.
Zhou Qiuhai explained that the ancestors knew the risks, which was why the Heaven Official position was created to guard the secret, criticizing Ding Yunqi's father for leaking it. Ding Yunqi defended his father, but Zhou Qiuhai dismissed the argument, emphasizing that the Kunlun Mountains were the root of all their misfortunes. He reminded Ding Yunqi that as the next Heaven Official, it was his responsibility to handle the situation.
Ding Yunqi acknowledged he was not a god and could not control human desires, stating his sole focus was saving his friends. As he prepared to confront Commander Hu, Zhou Qiuhai revealed that Mound-digging disciples were in ambush, ready to storm the headquarters on Ding Yunqi's signal. However, Ding Yunqi refused the signal flare, stating he disliked killing and wished to see no one's blood. He then walked alone into the garrison headquarters to negotiate.
