> Legend of Yun Xi Recap

Han Yunxi was preparing to leave after Gu Qishao had spent a night detoxifying her. Gu Qishao, teasingly, remarked that an "outsider" who worked all night could not compare to her "lover" who spent only half an hour healing her. Han Yunxi assured him he was her benefactor and best friend, asking him for the prescription for the detoxifying medicine, which he agreed to provide.

As Han Yunxi returned to Prince Qin's Mansion, she was met by Mrs. Xu, Han Ruoxue, and Third Aunt, who urgently begged her to save Han Cong'an. They explained that Han Cong'an had been imprisoned by His Majesty for his alleged failure to properly treat the Crown Prince, Long Tianmo, and his life was now in grave danger.

Mrs. Xu emphasized that the Han family would be ruined without him, while Han Ruoxue tearfully apologized for her past behavior and pleaded for Han Yunxi to save their father, adding that Yunyi, the only male child, could not be left without a father. Despite their pleas and reminders of his familial role, Han Yunxi harbored deep resentment towards Han Cong'an, remembering how he had neglected her when she was bullied, abused, and homeless.

She questioned why his life and death mattered to her, stating she had no such father. Meanwhile, Crown Prince Long Tianmo's condition remained critical, causing deep anxiety for the Empress Dowager. Consort Qing seized the opportunity to recommend Han Yunxi, recalling how Han Yunxi had previously detoxified her. In a private conversation, the Empress Dowager and Emperor Tianhui discussed using Han Yunxi to undermine Long Feiye.

They planned to leverage Han Yunxi's efforts to save the Crown Prince as a pretext to suppress Prince Qin's Mansion and even demote Long Feiye, believing that Han Cong'an's life alone was not enough to achieve their goal; they sought to implicate his entire family. Long Feiye, unbeknownst to them, overheard their treacherous conversation, feeling a chilling sense of betrayal that his own father was still using him even as he faced his own imminent demise.

Gu Beiyue arrived at Prince Qin's Mansion to assist Han Yunxi in developing an antidote for Crown Prince Long Tianmo. He noted the unusual nature of the poison, affecting both the brain and internal organs, and suggested a high-risk but potentially effective solution: locating a Poison Beast in the Sinkhole whose blood could detoxify all poisons.

Han Yunxi, acknowledging the extreme danger of the powerful Sha Poison prevalent in the Sinkhole and the countless traps within, resolved that this was their only chance and prepared to journey there. Gu Qishao also provided rare and precious herbs for their research, explaining to his subordinate that his generosity was a calculated move.

He knew Han Yunxi would tirelessly research the Sha Poison antidote, and by helping her, they would go to the Sinkhole, allowing him to "reap the harvest" – specifically, to find the Poison Master located there. Long Feiye visited Han Cong'an in prison, who expressed acceptance of his impending death, stating that as the chief doctor of the Imperial Academy of Medicine, he had long prepared for such a fate due to the perils of serving the emperor.

He urged Long Feiye to prevent Han Yunxi from becoming involved in this dangerous political entanglement, believing the Crown Prince was beyond saving. Long Feiye, observing Han Cong'an's demeanor, sensed an unspoken truth behind his past harsh treatment of Han Yunxi. Han Cong'an confessed that his late wife, Lady Tianxin, was the love of his life and he could never mistreat her daughter.

He revealed that Lady Tianxin had wished for Han Yunxi to marry an ordinary man and live a simple life, free from the entanglements of powerful families and political struggles.

Fearing that Emperor Tianhui might arrange a high-status marriage for Han Yunxi, Han Cong'an resorted to a desperate measure: he intentionally poisoned her face to cause a carbuncle, hoping to make her undesirable to noble families, such as Prince Qin's Mansion, and secure her a peaceful life after he secretly cured her. He admitted this was his only option to protect her from the political turmoil he foresaw.

He then requested Long Feiye to bring Han Yunxi to the prison, stating he had a plan to make her give up on saving him. Meanwhile, Bai Xiaochuan, the military inspector of Tianning and a student of General Baili, reported Baili Mingxiang's disappearance in the Sinkhole to Long Feiye. He explained that they were attacked at the entrance of the Sinkhole while searching for someone, and Mingxiang had vanished.

Bai Xiaochuan also handed Long Feiye a map of the Sinkhole that Mingxiang had drawn, along with another item given to him by a masked man who had saved him during the attack. He noted Mingxiang had found the map hidden within the "Poison Scripture" and ventured into the Sinkhole alone. This information, coupled with the critical need for the Poison Beast to save Crown Prince Long Tianmo, solidified Long Feiye's decision that he must personally go to the Sinkhole.

Han Yunxi resolved to accompany him once she had developed a resistance to the Sha Poison. Following Han Cong'an's request, Han Yunxi went to the prison. She approached him with the intention of saving him, but he immediately launched into a harsh tirade, declaring she was not a member of the Han family and had no blood relation to them. He shockingly claimed she was a "bastard," stating that Lady Tianxin had already been pregnant before their marriage.

Han Cong'an confessed he had only tolerated Han Yunxi while Lady Tianxin was alive, but after her death, Han Yunxi became a constant reminder of his "shame," prompting him to inflict the poison on her face and allow Mrs. Xu and Han Ruoxue to bully her. He vehemently told her he wanted nothing from her and demanded she leave. Stunned and heartbroken by his words, Han Yunxi left the cell, questioning her true parentage.

After she departed, Han Cong'an was seen in tears, silently apologizing to Han Yunxi, showing his actions were a painful pretense. Long Feiye reassured Han Yunxi that his mission to the Sinkhole was not primarily to save Han Cong'an, or even Crown Prince Long Tianmo, but served his own strategic purposes.

He explained that Emperor Tianhui's secret surveillance of Prince Qin's Mansion inadvertently provided him a legitimate reason to go to the Sinkhole and pursue his own long-standing intent to investigate it thoroughly. Han Yunxi, concerned for his safety, expressed her worries, but Long Feiye reassured her, affirming his trust in her. The Crown Prince's condition worsened, with only four days left before the poison would claim his life.

Emperor Tianhui, rather than focusing on his son's treatment, seemed preoccupied with Long Feiye's lack of action regarding Han Cong'an. The following day, during court, the Imperial Academy of Medicine jointly submitted a memorial, accusing Han Cong'an of corruption and abuse of power, citing "solid evidence." Emperor Tianhui, seizing this opportunity to strike at Long Feiye, ordered the confiscation of the Han family's assets and the arrest of all its members, condemning Han Cong'an for blatantly disregarding national law.

Imperial soldiers stormed the Han Mansion, arresting Third Aunt and Yunyi. Mrs. Xu, however, managed to escape and immediately sought refuge at Prince Qin's Mansion, desperately pleading with Han Yunxi to save Han Cong'an, whose execution was set for two days later. Han Yunxi was overwhelmed, knowing that while the charges against her father were exaggerated, the evidence made it difficult to dispute.

Long Feiye confirmed that while he could negotiate for the safety of other Han family members, Han Cong'an's alleged crimes were too severe for him to escape the death penalty. Mrs. Xu tearfully interrupted, revealing the full truth: Han Cong'an had allowed her to bully Han Yunxi because he feared her maternal family's influence.

He also worried that any overt favoritism towards Han Yunxi would only fuel Mrs. Xu's jealousy, and his duties in the palace prevented him from constantly protecting Han Yunxi, leaving her vulnerable. Mrs. Xu tearfully disclosed that Han Cong'an had told her he poisoned Han Yunxi's face to prevent her from being forced into a political marriage, hoping she could live a simple, peaceful life free from court intrigues. He even intended to secretly cure her face later.

Han Yunxi struggled to believe this, given Han Cong'an's past harshness. However, Long Feiye confirmed Mrs. Xu's account, revealing that Han Cong'an had confessed all this to him during his prison visit. Memories of her father's subtle kindnesses and protection flooded Han Yunxi's mind, making her realize she had profoundly misunderstood him.

With this newfound understanding, Han Yunxi resolved that the only way to save her father was to save Crown Prince Long Tianmo, believing that this act of merit would atone for Han Cong'an's alleged crimes and secure his release.
