Having recently recovered from exposure to a poison barrier, Ning Jing confronted Gu Qishao in Herb-Ghost Valley, demanding to see Han Yunxi. Gu Qishao, who had mercifully detoxified her, sternly reminded her that the valley was not a place to enter at will. Ning Jing asserted her close friendship with Han Yunxi. Gu Qishao then probed, asking if Long Feiye had told her Yunxi was there, which Ning Jing denied. Gu Qishao was initially reluctant, stating Han Yunxi was unwell.

However, Ning Jing was confident that her presence would lift Yunxi's spirits and aid her recovery. Upon meeting Han Yunxi, Ning Jing learned that Yunxi felt Long Feiye had been heartless by driving her away. Ning Jing quickly clarified that Long Feiye’s actions were a protective measure due to the widespread dangers associated with being a gu-abetted person and the Consort Dowager's strong opposition. Realizing Long Feiye's true intentions, Yunxi felt relieved, dispelling her belief that he favored Baili Mingxiang.

Ning Jing then revealed her visit's true purpose: Baili Mingxiang was cultivating Beauty Blood for Long Feiye. Yunxi understood the perilous process, which involved years of ingesting various slow poisons to accumulate three hundred different toxins in the blood. Ning Jing confirmed Baili Mingxiang's deep, almost unbearable devotion to Long Feiye, emphasizing that once the cultivation began, it could not be stopped without risking death, a fact Long Feiye had struggled with, having sought failed cures for her.

Yunxi, believing all poisons have antidotes, offered to help Baili Mingxiang for Long Feiye’s sake, aiming to alleviate her suffering. Gu Qishao, who had been listening, interrupted with news that Emperor Tianhui's forces, led by General Mu Qingwu, had encircled Prince Qin's Mansion, making return impossible. In Prince Qin's Mansion, Tang Li expressed concern for Ning Jing’s safety, though he tried to mask it with dismissive remarks.

Chu Xifeng reported to Long Feiye that the rumors against him were orchestrated by the Second Prince, confirming Emperor Tianhui's involvement. Long Feiye remained composed, advocating patience. Back in Herb-Ghost Valley, Ning Jing urged Han Yunxi to focus on curing the madman in Solitude Pavilion, revealing him to be the Poison Master, a pivotal step towards saving Long Feiye from his gu poison. Yunxi agreed, understanding the urgency. At Renshou Palace, Emperor Tianhui discussed his strategy with the Empress Dowager.

He intentionally assigned Mu Qingwu to guard Prince Qin’s Mansion, anticipating that Mu Qingwu, who owed Han Yunxi a debt, might allow Long Feiye to escape. This, the Emperor hoped, would lead him directly to the Poison Master. The Second Prince, Long Tianqing, reported his successful campaign to turn public opinion against Prince Qin.

As a reward, he requested permission to visit his unwell mother, Noble Consort Xiao, a request Emperor Tianhui granted, along with a pardon for his recent misdeeds. Emperor Tianhui then took Consort Qing (Chu Qingge) to a newly built palace, meticulously designed to evoke her homeland of Xiqiu. He declared his deep affection for her, promising to promote her to Noble Consort, granting her significant authority over the harem, which she gratefully accepted.

Word of Consort Qing's promotion and new palace reached Noble Consort Xiao, who reacted with furious jealousy, feeling her hard-won status threatened. Meanwhile, Consort Qing basked in her success, having secured the Emperor's trust and a prestigious new title, placing her on par with Noble Consort Xiao. She expressed concern over the Crown Prince's confinement, believing it was linked to his secret research into gu-abetted individuals, which could open the door for the Second Prince to consolidate power.

She knew she had to proceed cautiously given Emperor Tianhui's strict adherence to rules. Her servant then confirmed that the Empress Dowager was investigating Noble Consort Xiao. News of Chu Qingge's advancement pleased Gu Qishao. Han Yunxi, in Solitude Pavilion, diligently attended to Poison Master, bringing him food and offering comfort. She discovered he knew a specific red string game, just like her deceased mother, revealing a poignant connection. Yunxi reaffirmed her resolve to cure him to save Long Feiye.

Chu Xifeng later informed Long Feiye that the guards at Prince Qin's Mansion had become lax and that Han Yunxi was secretly treating Poison Master, unobserved by Gu Qishao. Long Feiye found himself recalling cherished moments with Yunxi. Yunxi continued her tireless work, driven by her desire to cure Long Feiye. However, Poison Master’s condition showed no improvement based on her medical knowledge, prompting her to suspect an issue with her medicinal formula.

Yunxi sought Gu Qishao’s expertise with the prescription. He playfully agreed, adding three more conditions to the three she already owed him, making a total of six conditions. Later, Ning Jing brought pastries from Gu Qishao to Yunxi. Though Ning Jing expressed concern about Gu Qishao's rivalry with Long Feiye, she eagerly consumed most of the delicious pastries. Ning Jing also reminded Yunxi that it was Long Feiye's true birthday.

Yunxi noted this important detail, but remained engrossed in writing out the new prescription for Gu Qishao's review. That night, Ning Jing cautiously returned to Prince Qin's Mansion. She accidentally collided with Baili Mingxiang, scattering the fireflies Baili Mingxiang had lovingly prepared all afternoon for Long Feiye's birthday. Baili Mingxiang was heartbroken, tears streaming down her face as she watched the fireflies escape, lamenting that her fleeting moments and unrequited love for Long Feiye were slipping away.

Ning Jing then reunited with Tang Li in the mansion, their playful bickering hinting at Tang Li's underlying concern for her. Long Feiye arrived, receiving the anti-poison barrier antidote from Ning Jing, and learning of Gu Qishao's evident interest in Yunxi. Long Feiye and Chu Xifeng subsequently headed to Herb-Ghost Valley. Chu Xifeng entered first and was quickly incapacitated by Gu Qishao's poison, then attended to by Zhuyu.

Zhuyu mischievously told Chu Xifeng that Gu Qishao had "buried alive" Long Feiye. A frantic Chu Xifeng then rushed to find his master. Long Feiye entered and finally reunited with Han Yunxi. Yunxi briefly excused herself, asking him to wait. Long Feiye waited for Yunxi on the steps, surrounded by the soft glow of fireflies. Yunxi soon found him there. She solemnly promised to spend every future birthday with him.

Long Feiye, admiring her under the moonlight, playfully reminded her of a past promise to accept a punishment. He then asked her to close her eyes and gently kissed her forehead. Han Yunxi, blushing, wrapped her arms around his waist, and Long Feiye drew her into a tender embrace. Gu Qishao, hidden, witnessed their reunion. The following day, Gu Qishao watched with amusement as Zhuyu offered Chu Xifeng noodles and freshly brewed wine, a subtle apology for her prank.

They exchanged a knowing smile. At Wende Palace, Emperor Tianhui received a report that two black-clad figures had escaped Prince Qin's Mansion and vanished near Herb-Ghost Valley. He surmised that the Poison Master was likely held captive within the valley. In Herb-Ghost Valley, Gu Qishao, observing Han Yunxi's intense dedication to finding a cure for madness, concluded that Poison Master was indeed in Long Feiye's custody.
