The Empress Dowager's birthday banquet began, and Long Feiye, impeccably dressed, arrived with his wife, Han Yunxi. Before entering the palace, Long Feiye showed concern for Yunxi, reminding her to be careful, and they temporarily separated to attend to different matters. Han Yunxi went to see the Empress Dowager, who presented her with Lady Tianxin's medical bag as bait.

The Empress Dowager demanded Yunxi use acupuncture needles on Long Feiye's Tianshu, Lingxu, and Qihai acupoints after he was injured during the banquet. When Yunxi hesitated, the Empress Dowager intensified her manipulation by showing Yunxi a woman with a strong resemblance to Lady Tianxin, claiming it was her mother, but only allowing her a glimpse through a curtain. The young and naive Yunxi pleaded with the Empress Dowager, who remained firm.

She threatened that if Yunxi did not comply, Yunxi, Long Feiye, and her "mother" would all perish. Believing as a medical practitioner that these three acupoints would not cause severe harm, Han Yunxi reluctantly agreed to take the risk. Meanwhile, Baili Mingxiang, weakened by significant blood loss from her efforts to cultivate "Beauty Blood" to save Long Feiye, collapsed in a corridor. She was found and helped by Ouyang Ningjing.

Consort Dowager Yi, upon hearing of Mingxiang's condition, rushed to her side. Taking advantage of the situation, Mingxiang insisted that Han Yunxi was the Empress Dowager's spy and warned Consort Dowager Yi that Long Feiye's safety was paramount during the banquet. Consort Dowager Yi assured Mingxiang that she would handle the situation if Yunxi dared to harm Long Feiye.

In the Imperial Garden, Consort Qing performed a graceful dance that pleased the Empress Dowager and captivated the Emperor, much to Noble Consort Xiao's envy. Long Feiye's attention, however, remained solely on Han Yunxi. Noticing Yunxi's discomfort, he gently offered to take her back to Prince Qin's Mansion as soon as the banquet concluded. The festivities were interrupted when a renowned swordsman from Xiqiu proposed a duel.

Despite Long Feiye's initial reluctance, deeming it improper for the occasion, the Emperor, the Empress Dowager, and the royal children all pressured him, making it impossible to refuse. The duel commenced, but Long Feiye fell into a trap. Having been warned by Yunxi that his body had not yet recovered, he couldn't fully utilize his internal energy and was no match for the skilled Xiqiu swordsman.

After several exchanges, he was wounded and fell, just as the Empress Dowager had anticipated. Long Feiye insisted that only Han Yunxi treat his injuries. Torn, Yunxi eventually had no choice but to follow the Empress Dowager's orders under threat, using the needles on the three designated acupoints. Immediately after, the Empress Dowager claimed fatigue, called an end to the performances, and dispersed the crowd.

The Emperor, having already arranged for archers, prepared to capture Long Feiye, whom he believed to be a Gu-poisoned man. He overheard a staged argument between Long Feiye and Han Yunxi from their tent, followed by the emergence of a red-eyed, white-haired Gu-poisoned man, seemingly confirming his suspicions. However, as the guards closed in, Long Feiye emerged and struck the figure, who was revealed to be Chu Xifeng in disguise.

In the ensuing confusion, Consort Qing shielded the Emperor from a sword attack, falling unconscious after pleading with him to look after Xiqiu. This entire sequence was a well-devised strategy. Chu Xifeng's masquerade successfully lured the Emperor's guards to the secret base where the Crown Prince was developing Gu-poisoned men, thus protecting Long Feiye while sowing discord within the Tianning royal family.

Back at Prince Qin's Mansion, a distraught Consort Dowager Yi was about to punish Han Yunxi, but Long Feiye, though in great pain, arrived just in time to protect her. Consumed by guilt, Yunxi confessed the Empress Dowager's threats, prompting Long Feiye to reveal a devastating truth: her mother had died ten years ago. Yunxi collapsed in disbelief. Long Feiye then recounted the tragic events of his past to Han Yunxi.

He revealed that his birth mother had sacrificed her life to save him. He also shared how, as a child, he was poisoned by the Poison Master clan and held in a dungeon for four years, forced to drink a mysterious soup that slowly transformed him into a Gu-poisoned man.

Finally, he confessed that Yunxi's mother, Lady Tianxin, had also died in front of him; she was a doctor who had tried to rescue him, only to be stabbed to death by Tianning soldiers while shielding him. These haunting memories were the deep wounds he had carried for years. As he shared his pain, Yunxi's heart ached for him.

In that moment of shared vulnerability, Long Feiye realized Yunxi was the one he was destined to protect for the rest of his life, and Yunxi, in turn, felt that Long Feiye was a heaven-sent match, a gift from her mother's spirit.
