Legend of Awakening Episode 47 Recap
> Legend of Awakening Recap
Yan Xifan and Ling Ziyan fought fiercely against Situ Luo. Ling Ziyan desperately shielded Yan Xifan, and as Situ Luo's blade was about to strike, this familiar scene shocked Yan Xifan. He picked up a discarded blade and, proclaiming, "Don't look down on our Yan Family's sword," he executed a decisive blow, killing Situ Luo. Lin Tianyi, seeing Yan Xifan and Ling Ziyan alive, was shocked.
Just as he was about to order the Young Prince of Dan to lead troops, Emperor Zhai arrived on horseback and shot him dead with an arrow, proclaiming, "If we can only rely on the Jianghu in the war, then where is the prestige of the court? Where is my prestige?" The Young Prince of Dan was instantly terrified and flustered. Emperor Zhai's Victorious Dragon Troop had already surrounded the area. He immediately ordered a full assault, boosting their morale.
He then told Yan Xifan, "Victorious Dragon Troop will be under my direct command from this moment. If you want to go to Jin City for rescue, just go. But remember to bring Lu Ping back." Yan Xifan accepted the order. Lu Ping's group had already arrived in front of the forage camp.
He instructed Wei Tianqi to take Su Tang and use his soul of Energy to locate Yan Jin in the camp, while he and the Fifth College disciples stayed behind to hold off the Force Eaters. He warned them, "I can only hold on for one hour at most. If you won’t make it in time, I’m afraid none of us can walk out of Jin City alive." Yan Xifan arrived at this critical moment to fight alongside Lu Ping.
As Wei Tianqi and Su Tang navigated the city, Wei Tianqi struggled, his legs feeling weak, and he collapsed. Su Tang, noticing his discomfort, asked if he was alright. He dismissed her, telling her to "Stay away from me. You’re sweating. Go to help." Later, he admitted his legs were sore, and they discussed calling for help. Su Tang rejected the idea, stating, "To ask for help means to die here together.
Wei Tianqi, you really want my brother to look down on you all his life." Stung by her words and unwilling to be seen as weak, Wei Tianqi declared, "No way. I’m the first chief disciple of Chanzhou Martial arts school. How can I lose to a boy from Zhaifeng? Let’s go." They then pressed on through the Force Eaters' encirclement, rushing to the forage camp.
With Yan Xifan now fighting alongside him, Lu Ping engaged Yan Jin, trying to buy more time for Su Tang and Wei Tianqi. Lu Ping taunted Yan Jin, saying that his "elegant music is not as interesting as my metals." Yan Jin, initially overconfident, boasted, "I really looked down on you two. I didn’t expect that you could go all the way here. What a pity. You failed in the end."
However, he was unaware that Su Tang and Wei Tianqi had managed to reach the forage camp. Su Tang and Wei Tianqi ambushed him successfully, with Su Tang following Lu Ping's instruction to "Make it clean" and striking Yan Jin dead.
In his dying moments, Yan Jin cursed Lu Ping, accusing him of forgetting his parents' and masters' revenge, of being disloyal and unfilial, and of aiding a tyrant, predicting he would be "cursed by others and abandoned by the world." Lu Ping responded, "You’re wrong. I am not helping my foe but the people. Only when we let go of hatred can we have a world in our hearts." With Yan Jin's death, the forage camp was set ablaze.
After the battle, Su Tang asked Yan Xifan if it was over. Yan Xifan confirmed that with the forage camp burned and the Dan Army surrounded, Jin City would be retaken once Emperor Zhai attacked. After the victory, Yan Xifan turned to Lu Ping, thanking him, "Thank you, Senior. No matter in court or Jianghu, you are the Senior of Zhaifeng." He then urged Lu Ping, "You can’t stay here for long. Leave Jin City as soon as possible."
Su Tang questioned this, asking why Lu Ping, a hero of Shuo, should leave, and if Yan Xifan was trying to take credit. Su Tang then realized, explaining that "it’s hard to guess the mind of His Majesty. There are only two kinds of people for His Majesty. His men and his enemies," and since Lu Ping had once assassinated the Emperor, "He will never be able to enter the court."
Yan Xifan told Lu Ping that he would "welcome His Majesty in person at the gate. Buying some time for you," and bid him farewell, "We shall meet again someday." As Emperor Zhai received reports of the forage camp burning and the Dan Army retreating, he ordered his Victorious Dragon Troop to attack Jin City immediately. He then issued a chilling command: "When you meet who can use six forces, kill them all. None shall survive."
General Wen Rui, confused, sought clarification, pointing out that "Lu Ping can use six forces as well. Your Majesty. Please make it clear." Emperor Zhai, however, retorted, "General Wen Rui. Don’t you know the word 'all'?" General Wen Rui, understanding the gravity of the order, could only obey. Lu Ping expressed his concern that Yan Xifan would be implicated for letting him, a criminal who had once attempted to assassinate the Emperor, escape. He declared, "I won’t leave Xifan alone."
He instructed Su Tang and the Fifth College disciples to assist the people in the newly recovered Jin City and along the border, stating, "As for the matters in court, I have involved in those. I can’t escape. I will finish it today." He then departed alone to find Emperor Zhai and Yan Xifan.
Emperor Zhai, angered by the initial report that Lu Ping had escaped and Yan Xifan claimed ignorance of his whereabouts, scolded Yan Xifan, reminding him, "As an emperor, I will never allow any pieces on the board that I can’t control," and accusing him of not understanding despite Emperor Zhai's efforts to promote him. Yan Xifan responded by saying he was "willing to be punished." Just then, a subordinate reported that "Lu Ping is coming to Jin City."
Yan Xifan immediately pleaded with Emperor Zhai, offering to "trade all my credits for his life." Emperor Zhai, unmoved, declared, "Xifan. You are not a ranger in Jianghu. You are a general of Shuo. Your life and your contributions are belonging to me." He then ordered General Wen Rui to shoot Lu Ping. Lu Ping, making no attempt to defend himself, was struck by an arrow and fell to his knees.
Suddenly, Lin Tianyi, who had surprisingly appeared, galloped up on horseback and took the wounded Lu Ping away. Yan Xifan knelt before Emperor Zhai for two hours, seeking permission to rescue Lu Ping. Emperor Zhai, initially dismissive, noting, "You’ve been kneeling here for four hours," and "You two are indeed brothers. One is lucky. Another is bold. You never respect me," eventually listened to Yan Xifan's plea.
Yan Xifan explained, "It's hard to achieve loyalty, filial piety and righteousness at the same time. I have lost my father. I don’t want to lose my brother." He further argued that eliminating Liu Song and the Shanhai Gang was crucial for the empire's stability, stating, "If I don’t finish this, I will be bothered all the time. Your Majesty, please fulfill my wish." Emperor Zhai, though agreeing, warned him, "You can go as your wish.
But you have to think through about this. Now the war is over. This time, you won’t have any support and credits, or the chance to regret. Your win or failure, life or death, honor or disgrace, Shuo has nothing to do with all." Yan Xifan accepted the terms. Ling Ziyan, concerned, offered to accompany him, but Yan Xifan insisted it was "our brothers’ business" and that she had "more important things to do."
He entrusted her with protecting Emperor Zhai, telling her, "Jin City is still in chaos. You’ve always been careful. With you by His Majesty’s side, I can go there at ease. You can believe in me, and yourself. I have never looked down on you. Take care of His Majesty for me. Take care of yourself. Wait for me." Ling Ziyan promised, "I’ll watch your back for you. Awaiting your safe return."
Yan Xifan and Su Tang then bid farewell to Huo Ying and the other Fifth College disciples as Zhaifeng disciples. When Huo Ying asked if they were following the Emperor's order or the way of Jianghu, Yan Xifan clarified it was "Nothing to do with the court, nor Jianghu. Only things between me and Lu Ping." They then departed for Shanhai Gang. Lu Ping was brought back to Shanhai Gang by Lin Tianyi.
Upon their arrival, Liu Song questioned Lin Tianyi about Emperor Zhai and Jin City. Lin Tianyi reported, "Jin City has been taken," and that Yan Jin "fell for Lu Ping’s scheme and died in Jin City." Liu Song then demanded why Lin Tianyi returned, to which Lin Tianyi replied that he risked his life "to bring Lu Ping back." Unimpressed, Liu Song then killed Lin Tianyi, abandoning him for his failure.
Lu Ping was chained and suspended by Liu Song, who began using his soul of Essence to control him. Liu Song manipulated Lu Ping's memories, creating vivid illusions of a perfect past: his parents by his side, and Qin Sang with him in a tranquil flower field, wearing the dress he had given her. Liu Song spoke to him within the illusion, "Is everything perfect? If Zhai didn’t attack Big Dipper that year, it should be your life.
Your friends, family, lover. You won’t lose them." Despite the beauty, Lu Ping recognized, "None of these is true. It’s just an illusion of the soul of Essence." Liu Song continued, attempting to sway him: "If you want, ones you missed can be met again. The lost can come back." He emphasized that "The heroism is no match with the idea of being ordinary," offering Lu Ping the life of an ordinary person, saying, "Lu Ping. You want to be an ordinary person. I can give you that. Do you want to give me what I want?"
