Legend of Awakening Episode 37 Recap
> Legend of Awakening Recap
Ling Ziyan awoke to find herself locked in a room. Using brute force, she broke free and hurried to find Lu Ping and Yan Xifan. At that moment, Lu Ping was locked in a fierce battle with Yan Qiuci. He sensed something was amiss with his opponent's moves. Just as he was about to land a final strike, Ling Ziyan intervened, shouting for him to stop.
It was then Lu Ping realized the person he had been fighting was actually Yan Xifan, who had used the soul of Essence to confuse him, intending to die by Lu Ping's hand. Yan Xifan revealed that he had imposed the Broken Marks on Lu Ping earlier. He confessed that he had emptied Wuji Manor and sent away the Longjie Army, planning to sacrifice himself.
Lu Ping angrily confronted Yan Xifan, reminding him of his past emphasis on integrity at Zhaifeng and questioning his current inability to distinguish right from wrong, as Yan Qiuci was the true villain. Yan Xifan sighed, explaining that just as Lu Ping was a son, so was he, and he wished for his family to live well. He confessed this was his final, small act of selfishness after a lifetime of strict adherence to rules.
Meanwhile, Mo Lin was treating Qin Sang, using silver needles to seal her acupoints and temporarily suppress the cold toxin. He warned her not to use any of her force, or the poison would rapidly accelerate, becoming incurable even with an antidote. Qin Sang urgently requested that Mo Lin keep her condition a secret from everyone, including Lu Ping and Su Tang.
Mo Lin reluctantly agreed, but then detected the distinctive scent of the Shanhai Gang, realizing they were likely targeting Lyu Chenfeng. They rushed back to the wooden hut where Lyu Chenfeng and Su Tang had been. Upon arrival, they found only Su Tang, accompanied by Wen Rui and the Longjie Army, confirming the Shanhai Gang had already left. Su Tang explained that Lyu Chenfeng had willingly gone with the Shanhai Gang, expressing a desire to meet Liu Song.
Qin Sang, sensing an imminent attack, immediately ordered all Longjie Army units to return and reinforce Wuji Manor. At the Shanhai Gang's base, Liu Song reveled in his plans, acknowledging that Zhai Rong's arranged marriage had inadvertently exposed Yan Qiuci as the true mastermind. Lyu Chenfeng was brought before Liu Song, and upon seeing him, Lyu Chenfeng reacted with profound joy, believing Liu Song to be his long-lost brother.
Liu Song, using the soul of Essence, easily took control of Lyu Chenfeng, manipulating him with promises of vengeance for their eldest brother. He directed Lyu Chenfeng to enter Wuji Manor and seek out his "enemy." Back at Wuji Manor, Lu Ping pressed Yan Xifan for Yan Qiuci's location, but Yan Xifan defiantly stood in his father's defense. Suddenly, the controlled Lyu Chenfeng burst in.
Mistaking Yan Xifan, who was holding a knife, for his eldest brother's killer, Lyu Chenfeng furiously attacked him. Lu Ping desperately tried to intervene and awaken Lyu Chenfeng, calling out to him, even calling him 'Uncle Lyu'. In the struggle, Lyu Chenfeng's weapon struck and shattered Lu Ping's "The Horn," and the resulting resonance momentarily broke Liu Song's control, allowing Lyu Chenfeng to recognize Lu Ping.
However, at that critical moment, Yan Qiuci suddenly appeared and ruthlessly stabbed Lyu Chenfeng with the Thousand Pine Ruler. As he lay dying, Lyu Chenfeng's memories resurfaced, seeing a baby Lu Ping and finally understanding the betrayal, but it was too late. His last regret was not having had the chance to forge a suitable weapon for Lu Ping or avenge his eldest brother, feeling utterly useless without martial arts. Lu Ping cradled Lyu Chenfeng's lifeless body, his heart aching.
He wished to tell him that his life was not useless, but the words were too late. Overwhelmed by grief, Lu Ping wept. Yan Xifan confronted his father, questioning his brutal actions. Yan Qiuci coldly stated that Shanhai Gang's target was Lyu Chenfeng and Lu Ping, and he had to eliminate them to protect Wuji Manor. As Yan Xifan tried to block his father from further harming Lu Ping, Liu Song and the Shanhai Gang arrived, easily infiltrating Wuji Manor.
Liu Song remarked on Yan Qiuci's unchanging ruthlessness and acknowledged that Yan Xifan's earlier action of clearing the manor had unwittingly smoothed the way for their entry. Liu Song then provoked Lu Ping, telling him that Yan Qiuci was the real enemy and that even those closest could betray him. He urged Lu Ping to pick up Lyu Chenfeng's weapon and confront Yan Qiuci. Lu Ping, consumed by rage and grief, took up the weapon and attacked Yan Qiuci.
He was, however, no match for Yan Qiuci. Yan Xifan once again rushed to intervene, but Yan Qiuci pushed him aside. As Yan Qiuci prepared to deliver a fatal blow to Lu Ping, the Thousand Pine Ruler in his hand shattered. It was then that Liu Song revealed the shocking truth: the Thousand Pine Ruler Yan Qiuci wielded was a fake, the real one always having been in Liu Song's possession.
Liu Song explained that he had intentionally released Lyu Chenfeng, knowing that the only way to unlock the commander's seal — which Lyu Chenfeng had sealed — was for Lyu Chenfeng himself to perish. Liu Song had expertly manipulated Yan Qiuci into killing Lyu Chenfeng, thereby obtaining the seal. He sarcastically thanked Yan Qiuci for his unwitting service, then ordered his men to take Lu Ping, declaring that Lu Ping had nowhere left to go.
Witnessing this devastating betrayal and the aftermath of his own actions, Yan Xifan, already weakened, collapsed into unconsciousness. Though shocked, Yan Qiuci was helpless in the face of Liu Song's cunning and quickly took his son away for medical attention. When Qin Sang, Su Tang, and Mo Lin arrived at Wuji Manor, the Shanhai Gang had already retreated, taking Lu Ping with them.
Ling Ziyan quickly informed them of Liu Song's elaborate scheme: how he had orchestrated Lyu Chenfeng's death at Yan Qiuci's hands with a fake Thousand Pine Ruler, all to obtain the commander's seal and abduct Lu Ping. Distraught, Su Tang demanded to capture Yan Qiuci to exchange him for Lu Ping, but Qin Sang prevented her, ordering Wen Rui to restrain her. Qin Sang reassured Mo Lin that Su Tang would not be harmed.
Concerned for Qin Sang's health, Mo Lin urged her to return to Wuyou Valley to treat her cold toxin, warning that delaying treatment could make it incurable. However, Qin Sang firmly refused, stating that with the border war ongoing, her duty was to stay and defend. She reflected on her brother's wisdom, realizing that some difficult tasks, no matter how painful, must be carried out, even if it meant sacrificing her own life.
Lu Ping awoke to find himself imprisoned in a cage within the Shanhai Gang's fortress. He soon realized he was not alone; Chu Min was also held captive. Liu Song arranged for them to meet. Chu Min, desperate to save Lu Ping, knelt before Liu Song, pleading for his release. Liu Song, however, was unmoved, criticizing Guo Youdao for his foolishness and Chu Min for her weakness.
He was determined that Lu Ping must learn the full, brutal truth that "you and Guo Youdao dare not to find out." Liu Song then began to reveal the dark secrets of Lu Ping's past. He told Lu Ping that he was only six months old when he left Big Dipper, now nineteen years later.
He denied responsibility for bringing the Shanhai Gang to Qisha Institute, asserting that he had risked his life to save baby Lu Ping from the inferno, claiming they were both victims of that tragedy. Liu Song confessed that he was a prince of Dan, sent to Big Dipper by his father to gain political influence and persuade the sect to align with Dan.
However, Liu Song found Big Dipper to be a sanctuary, a true paradise, where Leng Xiutan treated him like a brother and he found companionship with Chu Min, far removed from the palace's incessant intrigues. Lu Ping's father, Leng Xiutan, was dedicated solely to martial arts and adamantly refused to become entangled in political affairs.
When Lu Ping, a child with the rare ability to use six forces, was born, Liu Song's father saw him as a vital asset to strengthen Dan and ordered Liu Song to abduct him. Liu Song attempted to steal baby Lu Ping but was discovered by Leng Xiutan, who then learned of Liu Song's royal identity.
Leng Xiutan offered Liu Song two paths: return to Dan as a prince, forever severing ties with Big Dipper, or remain at Big Dipper as "Xiao Liu" of Tianji Peak, renouncing his princely title. Liu Song chose to stay. To signify his commitment to peace and non-interference in worldly conflicts, Liu Song surrendered both the Thousand Pine Ruler and the commander's seal to Leng Xiutan, who then sealed them. Leng Xiutan even forged a new weapon for Liu Song.
However, this peace was fleeting. Liu Song revealed that Yan Qiuci had discovered his secret and secretly conspired with Zhai Rong, allowing them to infiltrate Big Dipper, leading to the attack. He questioned why Lu Ping had never suspected Zhai Rong, who, despite being a court official, showed no surprise at Lu Ping's awakening abilities, suggesting Lu Ping's existence was an integral part of Yan Qiuci and Zhai Rong's plan.
Leng Xiutan, as the master of Big Dipper, fiercely protected Liu Song during the attack, asserting that as a disciple, Liu Song was no longer involved in court politics and would not tolerate external forces causing trouble. During the devastating attack on Qisha Institute, Lu Ping's parents, Leng Xiutan and his wife, had already expended seventy percent of their cultivation suppressing Lu Ping's six forces.
Nevertheless, they courageously saved Liu Song, pushing him and baby Lu Ping into a secret room. Leng Xiutan and his wife remained behind to cover their escape. Liu Song recounted the horrific scene: Leng Xiutan died from numerous stab wounds, while his wife was killed with a single blow. The closing of that secret room door marked their final farewell. Subsequently, Yan Qiuci set Qisha Institute ablaze to force Liu Song out.
In the inferno, Liu Song contemplated ending his own life, along with Lu Ping and his parents. But recalling Leng Xiutan's belief that death held no value without seeking justice, Liu Song chose to live for revenge and escaped with Lu Ping. He named his organization "Shanhai Gang" as a perpetual reminder to those responsible that their sins would never be forgotten. Shortly after his escape from the fire, Liu Song was rescued by soldiers from Dan, who presented him with the long-awaited opportunity for vengeance.
