Legend of Awakening Episode 35 Recap
> Legend of Awakening Recap
Yan Qiuci revealed to Yan Xifan that Lu Ping and Qin Sang were safe, placed alongside Lyu Chenfeng. He explained that his actions, though seemingly deceitful, were driven by unavoidable circumstances, which led Yan Xifan to feel he had wrongly accused his father and to apologize profusely. Yan Qiuci then entrusted the Thousand Pine Ruler to Yan Xifan, instructing him to return to Wuji Manor with the other disciples to guard it carefully.
He declared that Yan Xifan must now assume responsibility for Wuji Manor and the entire martial arts world, as Shanhai Gang would undoubtedly respond fiercely to the retrieval of the Ruler, thus requiring even greater caution. Yan Xifan, accepting his father's words without further questions and without being informed of the next arrangements, departed with the Ruler. Meanwhile, in the water prison, Lu Ping pondered the unexpected reunion with an old acquaintance of his father's.
He realized Lyu Chenfeng, whom he affectionately called Old White, was suffering from memory loss caused by "snowy weed"—a substance used in the army to induce amnesia in those privy to secrets. Lu Ping lamented that Lyu Chenfeng couldn't recall anything about his parents, and Qin Sang gently reminded him that despite his lack of parents, he still had her. Inspired by her words, Lu Ping resolved to find a way for all three of them to escape.
Qin Sang shared her unsettling discoveries: the attackers who fought General Wen displayed skills characteristic of Wuji Manor, not Shanhai Gang, and Yan Qiuci seemed to be deliberately impeding the Victorious Dragon Troop's efforts to eliminate Shanhai Gang. She suspected Yan Qiuci might be colluding with Shanhai Gang. Lu Ping vehemently denied this, citing Yan Qiuci's close friendship with his father and previous assistance to Beidou.
Qin Sang conceded she couldn't fathom Yan Qiuci's true motives if her suspicions were correct. Realizing the drug’s effects on Lyu Chenfeng might have weakened after sharing his meals, Qin Sang decided to provoke his memories, hoping for a breakthrough. She wielded her sword, confronting Lyu Chenfeng, who reacted with a sudden outburst, shouting "It's you!" and lashing out at her. Lu Ping, caught off guard, couldn’t stop Lyu Chenfeng, whose powerful sword shattered Qin Sang's weapon.
Lu Ping, observing the formidable sword, recognized it as a treasured blade and saw it as their key to freedom. As Lyu Chenfeng continued to forge, Lu Ping, initially confused and thinking Lyu Chenfeng was referring to Qin Sang, asked if the sword was for Lyu Chenfeng's "sister-in-law". Lyu Chenfeng confirmed it was for "Sister-in-law", prompting Lu Ping to realize that Lyu Chenfeng was referring to his own mother, making Lyu Chenfeng his paternal uncle.
Lyu Chenfeng then uttered the name "Dream," revealing the sword's identity. Lu Ping shared his own harrowing experience of being imprisoned for ten years in a similar hellish place, fostering a bond of shared suffering with Lyu Chenfeng, and reaffirming their resolve to fight for survival together. As they awaited their chance to escape, Qin Sang voiced her concern about Lu Ping's safety if Yan Qiuci truly had ulterior motives.
Lu Ping, touched by her care, playfully teased her about being eager to get married. He then reminisced about their first encounter, where her misunderstanding of his identity was born from his attempts to protect her. Qin Sang confessed her past harshness was also an effort to shield him.
Their conversation turned flirtatious as Lu Ping humorously countered the idea of being protected by a woman, stating it would be a loss of face for a man to be shielded by a woman. Just then, Lyu Chenfeng announced the sword was complete. Lu Ping, impressed, knew they couldn't wait for it to be fully sharpened; escaping was their immediate priority.
Lu Ping's 'Blow Horns and Set Camp' and Qin Sang's sword were then used together to try and open the water prison door. Suddenly, poison smoke began to fill the water prison, indicating an attempt to kill them. They struggled to force open the door, but it was blocked by a rockfall. Lyu Chenfeng attempted to escape, but then remembered something vital, rushing back to shout, "Dream!" and "Sharpen with blood!"
Inspired by his words, Qin Sang grabbed the "Dream" sword, cut her hand, and sharpened the blade with her blood. With Lu Ping, who had just managed to break through another "Soul Confinement" chain, they jointly cleared the passage, making their escape. Their hard-won freedom came with a price. Qin Sang collapsed, afflicted by severe cold poison from the "Dream" sword's cold iron, exacerbated by sharpening it with her blood.
Lu Ping, unable to wait, immediately carried her to Wuji Manor to find General Wen for help. As they entered a separate courtyard of Wuji Manor, the name of the manor triggered a violent fit in Lyu Chenfeng, who suddenly regained all his memories. He cried out in anguish, blaming himself for being unable to protect his elder brother, sister-in-law, and fellow disciples, as he lacked martial arts skills and was only a blacksmith.
He implored Lu Ping to avenge them, as he was now helpless. Lyu Chenfeng, though remembering the tragedy, couldn't recall the killer's name, only that he resided in Wuji Manor. Lu Ping immediately seized General Wen, demanding to know what had transpired at Wuji Manor during their imprisonment.
General Wen revealed that Yan Qiuci had successfully retrieved the Thousand Pine Ruler from Shanhai Gang and was proceeding with Yan Xifan’s wedding to Ling Ziyan, using the Qin family’s honor and the urgency of border military defense as justifications to override any objections. Lu Ping sarcastically remarked on Yan Qiuci’s concern for his own son contrasted with his ruthlessness towards his deceased friend’s son. He then told Wen Rui he intended to "catch up" with an old friend.
Meanwhile, Su Tang and Mo Lin were racing towards Wuji Manor, with Mo Lin physically strained by the journey. Su Tang worried they wouldn't arrive in time, but Mo Lin sensed Lu Ping's presence, indicating something was amiss. Qin Sang, worried, cautioned Lu Ping not to act impulsively at Yan Xifan's wedding, suggesting Yan Qiuci might have deeper, concealed motives or that someone else controlled Wuji Manor.
Lu Ping assured her he had a plan: he and Lyu Chenfeng, disguised as Victorious Dragon Troop soldiers, would enter the wedding ceremony with General Wen's help. His goal was merely to verify his suspicions, promising to consult her about their next steps. He urged her to rest, assuring her he would return.
At the wedding ceremony, Yan Qiuci welcomed various martial arts leaders, reaffirming his role as a leader against Shanhai Gang and announcing Yan Xifan's impending succession to Wuji Manor's mission. Earlier, Yan Xifan had expressed his concern to Ling Ziyan about his father's abrupt decision regarding their marriage.
However, Ling Ziyan revealed that she had personally requested the marriage from Yan Qiuci, stating her deep gratitude for Yan Xifan saving her life and her willingness to serve him, thereby doing what Qin Sang would not. Yan Xifan, deeply moved by her devotion, confessed that she was the only one he truly wished to marry and share his life with.
As Lu Ping and Lyu Chenfeng, disguised among the Victorious Dragon Troop, watched the ongoing festivities, Lu Ping playfully chided Yan Xifan for not inviting him to his wedding, then directed Lyu Chenfeng to carefully scan the assembled guests for his enemy. Yan Qiuci then presented Yan Xifan with the ""saber"" treasured by the family, symbolizing the transfer of their legacy.
The sight of the ""saber"" caused Lyu Chenfeng to convulse violently, and he pointed a trembling finger, shouting "The ""saber""!" and identifying the weapon as the one used to kill his elder brother.
