Legend of Awakening Episode 34 Recap
> Legend of Awakening Recap
General Wen Rui severely chastised Lu Ping, blaming him for Qin Qi's death and for putting Qin Sang in peril. He declared that Lu Ping was unworthy of speaking Qin Sang's name and should have been killed in Kaifeng for his past misdeeds. Wen Rui stated that the Victorious Dragon Troop's blades were for enemies, not for harming innocents or tarnishing General Qin Qi's name.
Lu Ping then probed Wen Rui about Qin Sang's true intentions, learning that she had ordered him to be sent back to Beidou to keep him away from danger. Wen Rui confirmed that Qin Sang was orchestrating a trap for the Shanhai Gang and had agreed to the imperial marriage with Yan Xifan as a necessary sacrifice to eliminate them.
Realizing the gravity of Qin Sang's situation, Lu Ping passionately appealed to Wen Rui to release him so they could aid her, arguing that two men should not stand idly by while a woman faced such danger alone. However, Wen Rui rigidly refused, citing military orders. During this tense exchange, the Victorious Dragon Troop was ambushed by Shanhai Gang agents. In the ensuing chaos, Lu Ping, despite being bound, plunged into the lake to escape.
Wen Rui and his remaining forces, unable to find Lu Ping, retreated to Wuji Manor for treatment. Upon learning of Lu Ping's disappearance, Qin Sang rushed to the lake, desperately calling out his name. Distraught, she impulsively ordered all Victorious Dragon Troop soldiers to search for him, but Wen Rui intervened, reminding her of their primary mission against the Shanhai Gang.
Qin Sang reluctantly agreed to leave just one team to continue the search by the lake, while the rest returned. She openly expressed her deep regret for abandoning Lu Ping. Wen Rui cautioned her that her emotional display could be deemed treasonous, but Qin Sang, no longer fearing death, retorted that she was past such concerns. Meanwhile, Qin Sang received intelligence that Ling Ziyan was indeed at Wuji Manor and preparing to leave.
Qin Sang confronted Ling Ziyan, imploring her to stay. Ling Ziyan tearfully accused Qin Sang of always taking what she desired, be it Lu Ping or Yan Xifan, and always standing in her way. Qin Sang explained her predicament: she was compelled to accept the imperial marriage to Yan Xifan, but her actual objective was to eliminate Liu Song and destroy the commander's seal within the Thousand Pine Ruler.
She acknowledged her family's past wrongs against Ling Ziyan but urged her to prioritize the greater good, promising that if their mission succeeded, she would ensure Ling Ziyan and Yan Xifan could be together, even suggesting Ling Ziyan could assume the identity of the "Xining Princess." Ling Ziyan, moved by Qin Sang's sacrifice, admitted her inability to match such nobility. Just then, Yan Xifan appeared, coincidentally witnessing their conversation.
Qin Sang handed Ling Ziyan's luggage to Yan Xifan, leaving them to talk. Yan Xifan, after a moment of silence, promised Ling Ziyan a future together after the Shanhai Gang was defeated. Ling Ziyan reciprocated, vowing to stay and fight by his side with all her strength, declaring that being with him honorably was the true meaning of her life. They embraced, solidifying their commitment.
Later, Yan Xifan, sleepless with worry over Lu Ping's disappearance, prepared to lead the Victorious Dragon Troop in a renewed search. Ling Ziyan expressed her suspicions, questioning how the Shanhai Gang could have breached Wuji Manor's tight security, and why they would target Lu Ping when their primary goal was the Thousand Pine Ruler. Yan Xifan concurred that the situation was indeed peculiar.
He decided to search the lake where Lu Ping vanished, while Ling Ziyan headed to investigate the nearby forests. Qin Sang met with Yan Qiuci, pressing him for action against the Shanhai Gang, but he dismissed her concerns, insisting on proceeding with her wedding to Yan Xifan in seven days. Frustrated, Qin Sang accused him of obstruction and demanded he produce Lyu Chenfeng as per the Emperor's secret orders.
Yan Qiuci arrogantly dismissed her demands, asserting his authority in Wuji Manor and ordering his subordinate, A Ze, to escort her away and focus on wedding preparations. Qin Sang then confided in Wen Rui, expressing her growing suspicion that Wuji Manor was manipulating them. She highlighted Yan Qiuci's delays and his refusal to let her meet Lyu Chenfeng.
Wen Rui then presented a broken arrow, explaining that the attackers who ambushed them possessed mastery of the Soul of Strength and used swords, unlike typical Shanhai Gang members who preferred unique weapons. This crucial evidence led Qin Sang to conclude that the assailants were likely from Wuji Manor. Yan Xifan, having eavesdropped on Qin Sang's conversation with Wen Rui, confronted Qin Sang, accusing her of sowing discord.
He staunchly defended his father, Yan Qiuci, citing his years of dedicated service. Qin Sang challenged Yan Xifan's blind loyalty, asking why his father concealed a "key person" from him. She revealed that this individual was Lyu Chenfeng, the former Master of Tianquan Peak, a renowned craftsman of weapons, and that he was hidden within Wuji Manor.
Qin Sang further divulged the Emperor's true plan: to use Lyu Chenfeng as bait to lure Liu Song and destroy both him and the Thousand Pine Ruler's command seal. Despite Yan Xifan's initial reluctance to doubt his father, Qin Sang's deliberate provocation was intended to stir his curiosity, hoping his intimate knowledge of Wuji Manor would lead him to uncover the truth. She left him to grapple with this revelation.
Yan Xifan later confessed to Ling Ziyan that he was now forced to believe Qin Sang's suspicions, realizing only his father could orchestrate such a complex plot within the manor. Although still hoping for an innocent explanation, he was deeply troubled. Unbeknownst to Yan Xifan and Ling Ziyan, Yan Qiuci and his subordinate had been fully aware of their eavesdropping. Yan Qiuci cynically remarked that Yan Xifan, with his "youthful mind," must have been swayed by Princess Xining's revelations.
He admitted to intentionally misleading them, viewing Qin Sang and Lu Ping as unpredictable variables who needed to be contained. Yan Qiuci revealed his plan to imprison Qin Sang in the secure water prison, where Lyu Chenfeng, who had been mentally unstable for years, was already held. He cruelly stated that he would let the "miserable couple" suffer together in the water prison. Meanwhile, Lu Ping awoke in a stone cave, finding his chains removed.
He discovered a peculiar, white-haired man, whom he decided to call "Old White," polishing chains. Lu Ping realized the cave was a prison beneath the lake, designed with tides that allowed entry but no escape. Old White, who seemed disoriented and only communicated by marking lines on the wall to count his days of imprisonment, indicated he had been there for a very long time.
When Old White examined Lu Ping's weapon, The Horn, he recognized it and its upgraded state, then inexplicably addressed Lu Ping as "Eldest brother," which Lu Ping comically misinterpreted as Old White wanting to be his younger brother. Lu Ping used the upgraded The Horn to unleash a powerful move towards the lake's surface, creating a disturbance. On the shore, Qin Sang noticed the unusual activity and realized it must be Lu Ping.
As she turned to seek help from Wuji Manor, a black-clad assailant, later implied to be Yan Qiuci, ambushed her from behind, knocking her into the lake. Qin Sang awoke to find herself in the water prison alongside Lu Ping. They exchanged playful barbs about his reddened ears and her potent sleeping dart. Both suspected their attackers were "individuals posing as" Shanhai Gang members. Meanwhile, the Shanhai Gang, disguised as merchants, indeed attempted to infiltrate Wuji Manor.
Yan Xifan, following secretly, witnessed Yan Qiuci's men intercepting the merchants and saw Yan Qiuci personally retrieve the Thousand Pine Ruler from one of them. Confronted by Yan Xifan, Yan Qiuci partially revealed the truth: Lyu Chenfeng was in Wuji Manor, having sealed Liu Song's commander's seal within the Thousand Pine Ruler at his deceased brother's request.
Yan Qiuci explained he kept Lyu Chenfeng hidden due to his mental state and protected Yan Xifan from the dangerous details of his plan. He admitted to using the wedding as a decoy to lure the Shanhai Gang, praising Yan Xifan's unwitting help in the operation. Yan Xifan then asked about Qin Sang and Lu Ping.
In the water prison, Qin Sang, observing Old White's ability to forge and his repeated address to Lu Ping as "Eldest brother," began to suspect his true identity. At that moment, Lu Ping experienced a sudden physical reaction. Qin Sang recognized the substance causing his symptoms as Snowy weed, explaining it was not a fatal poison but a drug used to disorient individuals with secret information, causing them to forget their past and even their identity.
Lu Ping then realized he had been eating the same food prepared for Old White. Connecting the pieces, Qin Sang definitively concluded that Old White was none other than Lyu Chenfeng, the Master of Tianquan Peak, and the very person she had come to Wuji Manor to find. Lu Ping was utterly shocked by this revelation.
