Legend of Awakening Episode 29 Recap
> Legend of Awakening Recap
As the Seven Star Convention was about to begin, Lu Ping finally arrived at Big Dipper Institute. He went directly to Li Yaotian, attempting to persuade him to cooperate with the court. Li Yaotian, however, firmly refused, explaining that such an alliance would inevitably place Big Dipper under the court's restrictions. He asserted that he and Master Yan had already agreed to defeat the Shanhai Gang independently.
Lu Ping countered that the Shanhai Gang's ambitions extended beyond the martial arts world, making it impossible for Big Dipper to remain uninvolved. He then informed Li Yaotian he would report to the Emperor and urged the master to make a decision soon. As Lu Ping prepared to leave, Yan Xifan stopped him, apologizing for their past disagreements and suggesting they train and drink together sometime.
Lu Ping initially brushed him off, but Yan Xifan's mood improved when Ling Ziyan pointed out that Lu Ping had addressed him as "Senior" rather than "Young Master Yan," indicating he had softened. Yan Xifan also observed an unusual number of female disciples among the attendees but did not delve further into it.
Meanwhile, Mo Lin, worried that Su Tang still grieved for Xu Weifeng, brought her to the river where Xu Weifeng was believed to have drowned, hoping they could both move on. To their shock, Mo Lin detected Xu Weifeng's aura, and they soon discovered Xu Weifeng, alive. Xu Weifeng explained that he had been swept downstream but survived, choosing to return rather than wander as a lonely spirit. He claimed his life was owed to Su Tang.
Though Mo Lin was furious, calling Xu Weifeng ungrateful and accusing him of tormenting Su Tang, Su Tang was hesitant. She considered that Xu Weifeng had once saved Bao Niang and might possess valuable information about the Shanhai Gang. She convinced Mo Lin, who reluctantly conceded, to treat Xu Weifeng's injuries. The Emperor discussed Li Yaotian's reluctance with Qin Qi, expressing his concern over Liu Song's true intentions.
A person claiming to be a Big Dipper disciple then arrived, inviting the Emperor to the mountain for a private meeting and advising him to travel lightly without his army. Qin Qi vehemently opposed this, citing the Emperor's safety, but the Emperor, wishing to demonstrate sincerity, agreed. He departed for Big Dipper, accompanied only by Lu Ping, Qin Qi, and Qin Sang, leaving Wen Rui and the Victorious Dragon Troop at their camp.
At Big Dipper, Chu Min, feeling bored after the day's events, decided to play mahjong with the Fifth College disciples. Suddenly, a "Big Dipper disciple" arrived, summoning her and the Fifth College members to the dome for an important Seven Star Convention meeting. Though she didn't immediately follow, Chu Min soon sensed something was amiss. She then realized the messenger was a Shanhai Gang impostor, confirming that Big Dipper had been infiltrated.
She recalled Lu Ping's hurried return to meet the master, followed by his urgent departure, and deduced a larger conspiracy was unfolding, realizing Lu Ping was in danger. She instructed Huo Ying to warn Li Yaotian and rushed down the mountain to aid Lu Ping. As Lu Ping and his companions ascended the mountain with the Emperor, they were ambushed by the Shanhai Gang.
Chu Min arrived in time, trapping Liu Song with her whip, and urged Lu Ping to take the Emperor to safety. Liu Song turned his wheelchair to face Chu Min, acknowledging it had been nineteen years since they last met. He then deployed a toxin from his wheelchair, subduing Chu Min and telling her to rest while he dealt with Big Dipper, promising to discuss their matters later. The camp had been destroyed, and the Victorious Dragon Troop annihilated.
Lu Ping suggested they take a little-known shortcut used by Big Dipper disciples to escape directly into E'zhou, where Su Tang and Mo Lin might offer assistance, and Qin Qi's injuries could be treated. Qin Qi objected, stressing the danger of the Emperor entering E'zhou covertly and insisting they return to the camp for aid. Lu Ping somberly informed him there was no camp left, as Liu Song's meticulous planning would have included an attack on their position.
Faced with no other option, the Emperor resolved to take the risk and head to E'zhou. Meanwhile, at Big Dipper, Li Yaotian convened the sect leaders at the dome after receiving what he believed to be a Seven Star Token from Chu Min. However, Yan Qiuci examined the token, noticing tell-tale burn marks, and declared it to be Liu Song's.
Moments later, Liu Song was wheeled into the dome, and it became clear that the Shanhai Gang had poisoned the lanterns, causing everyone present to lose their strength. Liu Song revealed his intention to use the martial arts masters for the Method of Xi Sui and to reclaim what he believed was rightfully his. The Fifth College disciples, who had been moving slowly, had avoided the dome and the poison.
They decided to discreetly monitor Liu Song's actions and await Lu Ping's return. Lu Ping prepared crude clothes for the Emperor and his party. When Qin Qi complained about the rough attire, Lu Ping explained that wearing fine clothing would attract undue attention. He declared that from now on, they were four relatives seeking shelter in E'zhou, with the Emperor and Qin Qi posing as his elder brothers, and Qin Sang as his wife.
The Emperor readily accepted Lu Ping's plan, acknowledging the need for plain attire during their escape. He decided to seek help from Minister Xu Yanling of Tan for military assistance. Qin Qi, despite his severe injuries, offered to go in the Emperor's stead, fearing exposure due to Minister Xu's son's connections to the Shanhai Gang.
Qin Sang also volunteered, but Lu Ping insisted that he and Qin Sang undertake the mission, using his identity as a Big Dipper disciple to test Minister Xu's stance. He also stressed the importance of Qin Sang disguising herself as his wife (wearing women's clothing) for their cover, arguing that two men traveling together would be more suspicious than a couple.
Lu Ping had tried to find Su Tang and Mo Lin but had no success, though he trusted Mo Lin to protect Su Tang. Lu Ping reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the peace for the common people, stating that the world could not afford to fall into chaos again. At the same time, Su Tang was tending to Xu Weifeng, whose asthma had recurred.
Xu Weifeng sought her forgiveness, claiming his past choices were wrong and he had lost everything, but that his feelings for her were always sincere. He asserted that she was the only one truly good to him and promised never to lie again. Su Tang's heart softened, but their conversation was interrupted when Mo Lin burst in.
Seeing Su Tang's obvious concern for Xu Weifeng, who was coughing, Mo Lin became furious and declared he would no longer serve Xu Weifeng, storming out. Su Tang called after him, but Xu Weifeng, feigning another asthma attack, held her back, preventing her from following Mo Lin. As Lu Ping and Qin Sang navigated E'zhou, they were pursued by Shanhai Gang members. They bought information from a local vendor, learning that Minister Xu was currently patrolling the city.
Meanwhile, Xu Weifeng, after leaving Su Tang, spotted the Shanhai Gang and, his true ambitions not extinguished, secretly followed them. Mo Lin, who had been covertly observing Xu Weifeng, also noticed his suspicious movements and followed him without hesitation. Lu Ping and Qin Sang eventually found Minister Xu and met him secretly in his carriage.
Minister Xu expressed his willingness to help but pressed Lu Ping for full transparency, suspecting that an important person in E'zhou required protection, which Lu Ping refused to reveal. Lu Ping appealed to Minister Xu's sense of duty, connecting the current crisis to the past mistakes of Xu Weifeng and stating that only Minister Xu could now rectify them. Minister Xu, acknowledging Lu Ping's contributions to the recent peace talks, agreed to trust him.
He confirmed he could mobilize some troops within the city and arranged to meet them at the city gate before curfew the following night. Later, Shan Lord Zhou was furious at losing track of Lu Ping and Qin Sang. Xu Weifeng appeared, offering his assistance in capturing Lu Ping and the Emperor. His condition was that the Shanhai Gang ensure his and Su Tang's safety after the mission. Just then, they spotted Mo Lin, who fled upon being discovered.
Su Tang, still searching for Mo Lin, saw his retreating figure but was prevented from pursuing him when Xu Weifeng once again feigned an asthma attack, drawing her attention and leading her away.
