At a party celebrating Weiling's one-year anniversary with the Polar Night Rescue team, Han Xiaoli arrived with a gift to kick off the festivities. Inside, Xie Yuan encouraged a nervous Lin Mu to confess his feelings to Weiling with roses he had bought, teasingly wondering if the attempt would be a successful "Normandy landing" or a tragic "Waterloo."
During the gathering, Lu Qun apologized for a recent incident where an emergency involving Weiling nearly became a major mistake due to his failure to create a backup plan, and he specifically thanked Han Xiaoli for her critical help. He then officially toasted Weiling, the team's first member after himself, for her hard work over the past year. Weiling expressed her gratitude, stating that every mission with her colleagues felt meaningful.
Han Xiaoli shared this sentiment, happy to be part of the team. When it was his turn, Lin Mu, too flustered to confess, awkwardly said Polar Night had helped him get in good shape before downing his drink. The team's tech specialist, Zhou Yao, also shared that the team gave him a sense of purpose and friendship beyond his life behind a computer. A flashback revealed their breakup was caused by his decision to secretly accept a scholarship to study abroad, which made Song Xingchen feel betrayed. Lu Qun discussed this with Su Qingche and also mentioned Gao Qingyin's surprising silence since the announcement, guessing Su Qingche's grandfather had successfully talked sense into her. He also defensively asked Su Qingche if the man Han Xiaoli had noticed at dinner was truly better-looking than him. Elsewhere, Qian Cheng was filming with a visibly dejected Gao Qingyin. Noticing her distress, he cut the shoot short, infuriating the program director who accused her of unprofessionalism.
Qian Cheng fiercely defended her, stating that if she were removed from the project, he would quit too. Concerned, Qian Cheng called Gao Qingyin's manager, Mengnan, who confirmed her depression since returning from Sucheng. After seeing Gao Qingyin's cryptic social media post about entering a "new world," Qian Cheng feared she might harm herself and rushed to the beach. She confessed her pain came from seeing a genuine happiness in Su Qingche with Xingchen that he never showed her.
