Dear Mayang Street Episode 27 Recap
> Dear Mayang Street Recap
Aunt Niu told Ma Xiaoxiao and Ma Dada that she planned to move out, stating she needed time for Ma Yingjun to calm down and complaining that he didn't understand her, making their time together difficult. She also mentioned the financial strain the family would face without her shop. She assured them it was a separation, not a family breakup, and she would not divorce their father, frequently returning to care for him.
Ma Xiaoxiao and Ma Dada, worried about the impact on their parents' relationship, tried to persuade her not to move. Aunt Niu then advised her daughters that when they marry, they should choose someone similar to themselves, as a couple moving at different paces would eventually drift apart.
Ma Dada worried if their mother wouldn't return, but Ma Xiaoxiao comforted her, reminding her that their mother worked hard and their father was ill, so they needed to be more sensible and not cause them worry. Ma Xiaoxiao specifically asked Ma Dada not to tell their father about the separation to avoid upsetting him further.
Later, Ma Dada, feeling the weight of the family's situation, approached Sun Falcon and asked him to tear up her application for the singing competition. She decided instead to dedicate herself to studying for university, despite her dislike for academics, explaining that her mother was working hard and her father needed care.
Sun Falcon tried to persuade her to reconsider, reminding her that Ma Xiaoxiao was capable of handling family matters and urging her to participate in the competition, believing a win would bring joy to their parents. However, Ma Dada remained resolved, stating she had already decided to focus on her college entrance exams. Ma Xiaoxiao, upon hearing this, confronted Ma Dada, imploring her not to abandon her acting dream.
She explained that giving up a dream initially brings immense sadness, but eventually leads to numbness, making life feel gray. Ma Xiaoxiao insisted that their mother's decision to move out and their father's illness were not Ma Dada's fault, and as the older sister, she would bear the family burdens. She urged Ma Dada to cherish her dreams. Meanwhile, Yi Dongdong and Yi Qianqian were enjoying dumplings.
Yi Dongdong, after praising Aunt Niu's cooking, became excessively happy when Yi Qianqian teased him, suggesting the dumplings were made by Ma Xiaoxiao. Searching for Yi Nannan’s storybook in Yi Dongdong’s room, Yi Qianqian stumbled upon a collection of love letters hidden under his bed, realizing he still harbored feelings for Ma Xiaoxiao. She read one, his 124th letter, expressing his unspoken affection and his hope of one day having the courage to confess his feelings directly to Ma Xiaoxiao.
Later, Aunt Niu discovered a poster of Ma Dada from the singing competition, showing her in a swimsuit. Enraged and embarrassed, Aunt Niu chased Ma Dada through the street with a duster, scolding her for "shamelessly" exposing herself and shaming the family. Neighbors, including Lin Jiahao and Chen Lili, questioned the appropriateness of the swimsuit and the competition itself.
Ma Dada tried to explain it was just an advertising photoshoot, that wearing a swimsuit was fashionable, and that she had already given up the competition for the sake of the family, even turning over the earnings from the photoshoot to her mother. However, Aunt Niu refused to believe her, accusing her of being untrustworthy. Hurt by her mother's lack of faith and feeling undervalued, Ma Dada ran away.
Worried about Ma Dada, Sun Falcon asked Yi Dongdong to find her, specifically telling him not to involve Ma Xiaoxiao, who had just settled into her law firm job. Yi Dongdong agreed and found Ma Dada at a movie theater. He convinced her to return home. There, Aunt Niu and Ma Dada engaged in a heated discussion. Ma Dada expressed her frustration at feeling undervalued, believing her mother looked down on her.
Aunt Niu, after being challenged, conceded and allowed Ma Dada to participate in the competition, challenging her to prove her capabilities by saying, "Can my daughter lose? If she loses, I'll take your dad's surname!" Excited, Ma Dada rushed to find Sun Falcon, fearing he had already torn her application form. To her relief, he admitted he hadn't torn it, explaining that as an intern, he lacked the authority to do so. Ma Dada, overjoyed, hugged him.
Ou Xiaojian had been trying to get Ma Xiaoxiao’s attention by shining a flashlight at her window every night since his release from prison, but she consistently ignored him, pulling her curtains shut. Ma Dada, witnessing this, commented that Ma Xiaoxiao was being "duplicitous." Earlier, while Yi Dongdong was helping Ma Yingjun take a walk, they were nearly hit by two thugs. Ou Xiaojian intervened, chasing the thugs away.
Ma Xiaoxiao finally agreed to meet Ou Xiaojian, where she confronted him about why he refused to see her during his imprisonment, feeling he had dictated everything without considering her feelings. Ou Xiaojian apologized, admitted his fault, and offered to let her hit him to vent her anger. He promised her he would never lie to her again.
He then took her hand and played a foreign movie song for her, telling her he would take her to see the film, which he revealed was titled "First Kiss." He then gently kissed her. Following their reconciliation, Ma Xiaoxiao helped her mother at the breakfast shop. Aunt Niu noticed Ou Xiaojian in Little Hong Kong, remarking that she hadn't seen him there since his release and found it strange he was there so early to get supplies.
Yi Dongdong, bringing breakfast to Ma Yingjun, observed the lingering glances between Ma Xiaoxiao and Ou Xiaojian, feeling a pang of disappointment. Ou Xiaojian and Ma Xiaoxiao began dating, going to the cinema and holding hands, resembling a young couple. During one such outing, after watching "First Kiss," Ou Xiaojian mentioned a sequel and Ma Xiaoxiao wondered if the main characters would stay together, to which he replied, "I think so."
They often flirted on their balconies, sending messages with flashlights. Meanwhile, Yi Dongdong frantically searched for his love letters to Ma Xiaoxiao, only to learn from Yi Qianqian that she had mailed them all to Ma Xiaoxiao, believing it was the best way for Ma Xiaoxiao to know his feelings. Yi Dongdong, horrified and on the verge of collapsing, rushed to Ma Xiaoxiao's house, where he fell and narrowly missed stopping the mailman who delivered the letters to her. When Ma Xiaoxiao started reading the letters, Yi Dongdong awkwardly intervened, claiming he wrote them "just for fun" and telling her not to take them seriously.
