Xiao Lanhua excitedly returned to Arbiter Hall, eager to tell Dongfang Qingcang about Lord Changheng's praise and the Firefly Stone she received. She believed this confirmed her destined connection with Lord Changheng, feeling overjoyed. However, Dongfang Qingcang, bound by the Heart Curse, felt an inexplicable tightness in his chest despite her happiness. He abruptly left to consult ancient scrolls.

Shangque suggested urging Xiao Lanhua to resume fixing the Destiny Book, but Dongfang Qingcang, uncharacteristically, expressed concern for her well-being, noting she had only recovered 70% and should not be rushed. Meanwhile, at Fountain Palace, Danyin confronted Yulin, accusing her of stealing a Firefly Stone. Yulin vehemently denied it, claiming Lord Changheng had personally given it to her. As their argument escalated, Qingchuan intervened, but their dispute was soon interrupted by the sudden appearance of Lord Yunzhong.

In the grand hall, Yulin maintained her stance, insisting that Lord Changheng had gifted her the Firefly Stone. However, Lord Changheng himself stepped forward to deny her claim. For Changheng, Yulin's lie was far more severe than simple theft; it falsely implied a personal affair, which was unacceptable given his engagement and position as the God of War. Lord Yunzhong, acknowledging Yulin's mother's loyal service, offered Yulin one last chance to confess.

When Yulin stubbornly repeated her false claim, Lord Yunzhong declared her guilt, ordering her immortal bones removed and banishing her to Shenshui Hall, from where she would be cast into the eternal cycle of reincarnation. Despite pleas for leniency from Changheng and others, Lord Yunzhong remained resolute. As Yulin was dragged away, she tried to implicate Xiao Lanhua, but her accusations were quickly silenced.

A memory from five hundred years ago surfaced, showing Changheng and a tiny Orchid enjoying happy moments. When Changheng eventually had to leave, he reluctantly erased her memory to spare her sorrow. Later, by fate's twist, he encountered her again, now as the God of War and she a small flower spirit in Arbiter Hall.

Wishing to protect her subtly, he intentionally dropped the Firefly Stone in front of her, secretly watched over her, and even picked up a narcissus and a handkerchief she had left behind. After much contemplation, he made the difficult decision to personally remove Xiao Lanhua’s name from the Fountain Palace selection list, believing it was the only way to keep her safe.

Xiao Lanhua excitedly rushed to check the announced list for the Fountain Palace duties, but her name was nowhere to be found. Her heart sank when Aunt Sansheng confirmed that Lord Changheng had personally excluded her. Distraught, she returned to Arbiter Hall, and to her dismay, the Firefly Stone she had treasured from him also turned back into an ordinary stone. Unable to comprehend why, she turned to Dongfang Qingcang in her sorrow.

Dongfang Qingcang then led her to Yunzhong Water Pavilion, where they overheard Lord Yunzhong and Changheng discussing her elimination. Changheng explained that despite her achievement as the champion, he deemed her unworthy of entering Fountain Palace, describing her as a lowly orchid with damaged immortal roots and no aptitude for cultivation. Hearing this, Xiao Lanhua burst into tears, utterly heartbroken. Back in Arbiter Hall, Xiao Lanhua's tears continued to fall.

She had genuinely believed that Changheng appreciated her and saw her as different, only to find her hopes shattered. Dongfang Qingcang, feeling her deep sadness due to the Heart Curse, angrily called Changheng "blind." Yet, Xiao Lanhua, still protective, asked him not to speak ill of Changheng, much to Dongfang Qingcang's frustration. Misunderstanding his subsequent comment that she truly was different from other fairies, Xiao Lanhua became even more upset, thinking he also looked down on her.

Dongfang Qingcang gently knelt before her, explaining that she was far more precious than anyone else—as precious as his own life. Though he had said such things before, his earnest words still stirred Xiao Lanhua’s heart. He urged her to stop crying, explaining that her sadness caused him pain, and tenderly wiped away her tears. Soon after, Lord Changheng arrived at Arbiter Hall with his search party, investigating the presence of evil spirits.

Dongfang Qingcang, still simmering with anger, was on the verge of destroying the entire hall. Xiao Lanhua rushed to stop him, but in doing so, they both tumbled into the vast cloud sea below. As they plunged into the water, Xiao Lanhua struggled to adapt, choking and beginning to sink. Dongfang Qingcang sighed and quickly gave her air. Once ashore, Xiao Lanhua was incredibly embarrassed, and Dongfang Qingcang explained he only acted out of fear she would drown.

After Xiao Lanhua left, he instinctively touched his lips, pondering the moment. He then lamented to Shangque that the heart-hidden hairpin, which could block her thoughts, remained unfound. He considered returning to Cangyan Sea for the Moon Supreme's holy token as an alternative. Shangque suggested that Xiao Lanhua's persistent attachment to Changheng was the psychological block preventing her full recovery. Later, Dongfang Qingcang looked into the Tianji Mirror on the Destiny Book tree.

He saw a vision of Xiao Lanhua and Changheng's wedding, which caused a sharp pain in his chest due to the curse. At the same time, Xiao Lanhua learned from Danyin that not only sinful immortals but also members of the Moon Tribe had escaped from Haotian Tower. This new information made her suspect Dongfang Qingcang's true identity. Despite her suspicion, she decided to help him escape. She offered him wine secretly laced with a powerful drug.

Once he was incapacitated, she carried him to a small boat. With tears in her eyes, she bid him a heartfelt farewell as the boat drifted away. She admitted she knew he was from the Moon Tribe, not a sinful immortal, and confessed that his presence had made her very happy and less lonely.

Explaining that his identity would lead to certain death in the currently hostile Shuiyuntian, she urged him to flee after the drug wore off, never to return and never to meet her again. Recalling his claim that emotions were a burden, she tearfully countered that their emotional bond was the very reason they had survived thus far. Under the moonlit sky, Changheng gazed out, his heart heavy with Xiao Lanhua's earlier disappointment. At that moment, a subordinate arrived, reporting a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the evil spirit.
