Age of Legends Episode 39 Recap
> Age of Legends Recap
Xiao Fei and his sister Xin Xin visited Hu Rong in the hospital. Hu Rong first thanked Xiao Fei for bravely risking his life to deliver crucial information, which was vital in capturing the drug traffickers. Xiao Fei then knelt by her bed, expressing profound gratitude. He revealed that before Hu Rong's intervention, his life at Golden Glory was miserable, like a "zombie," and thanked her for giving him a new beginning.
Liu Ziguang helped Xiao Fei to his feet, telling him that life's journey was long and he must persevere on the right path he had chosen. Liu Ziguang and Hu Rong promised to pick Xiao Fei up from the rehabilitation center when he was released. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Hu Yuejin and Han Jin interrogated Liu Ziguang about the incident at Golden Glory.
Liu Ziguang recounted using his cellphone as a diversion to delay the bus, and Tony's strong reaction, shooting him as soon as his sunglasses fell off. He denied knowing Tony and admitted to being confused, even dreaming of a fierce fight with Tony the previous night, but the details were unclear. He couldn't recall anything that would explain Tony's recognition.
Han Jin reported that T-Country police found no record of Liu Ziguang entering or exiting their country, nor any connection between him and Tony's drug trafficking network. This led them to deduce that Tony and Liu Ziguang were not connected. However, Hu Yuejin remained deeply suspicious, noting Liu Ziguang's scars, tattoos, and eight years of lost memories.
He suggested that Tony might have recognized Liu Ziguang due to interactions during Liu Ziguang's lost eight years, or that Tony's aggressive reaction might have stimulated fragmented memories. Hu Yuejin instructed Han Jin to continue investigating Liu Ziguang's background, particularly in T-Country, for any hidden facts or breakthroughs. Back home, Hu Yuejin informed his wife that Hu Rong would soon be back, having achieved a Second Class Merit award for her undercover work.
He had kept the news of her injury from his wife. The next day, Hu Rong was discharged and returned to the police bureau, where she was formally commended for her outstanding performance during the Golden Glory operation. Liu Ziguang was present, and Hu Rong publicly acknowledged his crucial role in her mission's success and safe return.
Hu Yuejin also expressed his gratitude to Liu Ziguang on behalf of the Jiangbei people and police force, formally inviting him to dinner at their home that evening. Liu Ziguang humbly accepted, stating he only did what he should. That night, Liu Ziguang joined Hu Rong for dinner at her family's home, where Hu Rong's mother had prepared a table full of dumplings. The atmosphere was warm and joyful.
Hu Rong's mother mentioned the family tradition of putting coins in dumplings for good luck when someone goes on a dangerous mission. Hu Yuejin then spoke earnestly to Liu Ziguang, stating that he could see Liu Ziguang's affection for Hu Rong. He urged Liu Ziguang to investigate and clarify his past eight years of lost memories, assuring him that this would bring peace of mind to them as her parents when they entrusted Hu Rong to him.
Liu Ziguang readily agreed, affirming that recovering his lost memories was his greatest wish, and he promised to protect Hu Rong and dedicate himself to this endeavor. Liu Ziguang returned to Truly Authentic, where his friends celebrated his heroism. Zhuoli and others teased him about entering the next phase of his life: marriage. Zhuoli even pretended to check a calendar for auspicious dates. Liu Ziguang, reflecting on their words, decided to invite Hu Rong to dinner that very evening.
Hu Rong received Liu Ziguang's message at the police station and smiled, looking forward to their date. When Hu Rong arrived at Truly Authentic, she found people holding the exact same "I like you" doll that Liu Ziguang had given her previously, each repeating the phrase. She was then led into a rose-filled area where Liu Ziguang, dressed in a suit, appeared.
He delivered a heartfelt declaration of love, then knelt, presenting a diamond ring, and asked Hu Rong to marry him. Hu Rong, blushing, accepted his proposal, and Liu Ziguang placed the ring on her finger. Surrounded by their cheering friends and family, they embraced. At that same moment, Han Jin, who was working late at the police station, received a phone call from Chang Tuo, an anti-narcotics officer from M-Country.
Chang Tuo delivered the somber news that the remains of Police Officer Huang Zhenwu had been found. DNA comparison confirmed a complete match, and forensic analysis ruled his death a homicide, with two bullet wounds. His death was estimated to have occurred about six months prior, coinciding with the "open sea arrest operation" when contact with him was lost.
Chang Tuo stated they suspected drug lord Sangbo was responsible, but lacked concrete evidence, and promised to email the photos of the remains and DNA results, along with updates on their investigation. Han Jin was visibly shattered by the news, the phone slipping from his hand. He then reported Officer Huang's sacrifice to Hu Yuejin. Hu Rong's mother, who had just been joyfully showing Hu Yuejin the video of Hu Rong's engagement, noticed Hu Yuejin's sudden change in demeanor.
He then reluctantly shared the devastating news with her. At the police station, a grief-stricken Hu Yuejin met with Han Jin and Song Bureau. He recalled Officer Huang Zhenwu's intention to retire after completing his last joint operation. Hu Yuejin, overcome with emotion, vowed to bring the murderer to justice at any cost, refusing to let Officer Huang's sacrifice be in vain.
Song Bureau expressed concern about how to inform Hu Rong, a sentiment Hu Yuejin shared as a heavy burden on his mind. Meanwhile, Nie Wanfeng received a call from his subordinate, Wanka, from M-Country, confirming that Officer Huang's remains had been found and that the police were now tracing surveillance footage from a specific bar. Wanka assured Nie Wanfeng he would acquire the footage before the police. Nie Wanfeng's expression grew grim.
He instructed Tiger to book a flight to M-Country for him. Nie Wanfeng coldly stated that with the police discovering the remains of the undercover officer, he planned to frame Liu Ziguang as the drug lord Sangbo, making him the scapegoat to prevent his own identity from being exposed. Later, Hu Rong returned home in high spirits, showing her mother her engagement ring. She noticed her mother seemed preoccupied and quickly inquired, but her mother brushed it off.
When Hu Yuejin arrived home, he discussed with his wife the difficult decision of telling Hu Rong the truth about Officer Huang Zhenwu. Despite his wife's worries that Hu Rong might not be able to handle such a shock, Hu Yuejin's resolve was firm.
The next morning, over a specially prepared breakfast, Hu Yuejin gently shared with Hu Rong the poignant story of his comrade, Officer Huang Zhenwu, and then revealed that Officer Huang's daughter had been living in Jiangbei all this time.
