Age of Legends Episode 2 Recap
> Age of Legends Recap
In 2016, Liu Ziguang encountered a destitute young man named A-Se on the street. A-Se noticed a peculiar black stone pendant on Liu Ziguang's chest – a strange-shaped black stone that Liu Ziguang had inadvertently unearthed while practicing martial arts in prison. A-Se immediately referred to Liu Ziguang as "Master" and declared himself "Disciple A-Se."
He recounted a fantastical tale of the stone being a "Disciple Stone" created by a "Master" who was imprisoned by the Great Demon King for 49 years before breaking free and leading the Light Sect disciples into battle. Finding A-Se somewhat bewildering, Liu Ziguang nevertheless decided to take him in. A-Se eagerly offered to help at a bar run by Officer Huang. While talking, Liu Ziguang discovered that Officer Huang was also from Jiangbei, instantly creating a bond between them.
Officer Huang offered Liu Ziguang and A-Se jobs at his bar, promising they could leave anytime if better opportunities arose. Liu Ziguang accepted, introducing himself as Guangzi. Later, Officer Huang secretly reported to his superiors, expressing his belief that Liu Ziguang was honest, righteous, and trustworthy, and seeking approval to train him as an informant. One day, Wanglong arrived at the bar with his subordinates and was surprised to find Liu Ziguang working there.
Wanglong urged Liu Ziguang to return to Jiangbei, stating that the bar was not a suitable place for him, and offered him a large sum of money. Liu Ziguang politely declined, saying he could earn his own money. Wanglong, acknowledging their brotherhood, told Liu Ziguang to come find him anytime if he changed his mind, promising to take him in. After Wanglong left, Officer Huang questioned Liu Ziguang about the identity of his "older brother."
Liu Ziguang revealed Wanglong was his sworn brother, but kept silent about his activities. Officer Huang pressed further, hinting that Wanglong's associate was a notorious local hoodlum, drug trafficker, and murderer, and asked how Liu Ziguang became involved with such people. When Officer Huang suggestively asked if Liu Ziguang was also involved in drug dealing or killing, Liu Ziguang became agitated.
He passionately explained that his father was killed by a drug addict right there, and that he himself had been imprisoned and tortured for four years by Colby for refusing to engage in drug dealing or murder. Emotionally, Liu Ziguang declared he was leaving. After learning about Liu Ziguang's past, Officer Huang felt the time was ripe. He took Liu Ziguang to a hidden room behind the bar.
In the secret room, Officer Huang revealed his true identity as a Chinese Drug Enforcement Police Officer in M Country, sent to investigate a new drug called "Angel" manufactured by Colby. He explained that he had been working undercover as a bar owner, using the secret room to gather intelligence and issue reports that led to numerous drug arrests, but he still couldn't find information about Colby, who remained at large.
Officer Huang then directly asked Liu Ziguang to become his informant, to return to the drug territory and infiltrate the organization to help eliminate the drug cartel. Officer Huang appealed to Liu Ziguang's resilience, noting his refusal to surrender during four years of torture. Liu Ziguang hesitated, stating he couldn't betray his sworn brother Wanglong, who was still involved with the drug organization, as he didn't want to become enemies with him.
Liu Ziguang sat contemplatively, his mind drifting back to painful memories. He recalled celebrating his father's birthday, buying him an electric shaver with his saved pocket money, and his father's heartfelt appreciation. That very night, amidst a heavy rain, Liu Ziguang returned home to find his father brutally stabbed by a drug addict who demanded protection money. His father died in front of him.
He then recalled Officer Huang's impassioned words about the devastating impact of drugs, reminding him that becoming an informant would not only aid the police but also protect countless innocent people from harm. After a profound internal struggle, Liu Ziguang approached Officer Huang and agreed to become an informant, but on two conditions. First, he asked Officer Huang to protect his older brother, Wanglong.
Officer Huang frankly stated that he couldn't promise protection, as Wanglong would face legal consequences for his crimes. However, he offered a path to a lighter sentence if Wanglong could atone for his actions by assisting the police. Liu Ziguang accepted this. His second condition was for the safety of A-Se. Officer Huang reassured him that he had already made arrangements to send A-Se back to Jiangbei to continue his education.
With his concerns addressed, Liu Ziguang then gave A-Se the black stone pendant, instructing him that by wearing it, he would be the "Right Light Envoy of the Light Sect," to obey "Uncle Huang" (who would be the "Senior Master"), and to return to Jiangbei to "revive the Light Sect." A-Se promised to wait for his return. Liu Ziguang then left the bar. Liu Ziguang journeyed to the drug base to join Wanglong.
Wanglong welcomed him with open arms, expressing his delight and quickly placing immense trust in him. Some time later, Liu Ziguang met Officer Huang at the bar. Officer Huang prepared a bowl of Jiangbei noodles for Liu Ziguang and shared that A-Se had been successfully sent back to Jiangbei, though he had been sad to leave.
Officer Huang then confided another secret: his daughter had become a police officer, and he jokingly suggested introducing her to Liu Ziguang after their mission was complete. One day, Liu Ziguang was with Wanglong at the drug base, reminiscing about their arduous early days in M Country, feeling nostalgic for simpler times. Liu Ziguang gently tried to persuade Wanglong to abandon his criminal path.
Wanglong, however, countered that there was "no going back" for him, reminding Liu Ziguang of their wolf tattoos, symbols of an irreversible commitment. He then chillingly confessed to Liu Ziguang that he had personally killed his wife and her parents because she had opposed his plan to develop the new drug "Angel." He also expressed his ambition to become the world's "Escobar" with his "Angel" drug.
Liu Ziguang was profoundly shocked, realizing how cold-blooded and utterly transformed his brother had become. Disturbed by Wanglong's confessions, Liu Ziguang visited Officer Huang at the bar, dejectedly explaining that he felt Wanglong had changed. Officer Huang affirmed that if Wanglong had truly changed beyond salvation, no one could save him. Liu Ziguang then handed Officer Huang a USB drive containing information about a Malaysian drug trafficker.
He also revealed that Colby was dead and that a new boss had taken over the organization, whom he would endeavor to identify. Officer Huang commended Liu Ziguang, stating he had not misjudged him. At the drug base, as Wanglong and Liu Ziguang were practicing assembling pistols, Wanglong received an urgent report. His demeanor changed as he confronted Liu Ziguang, accusing him of leaking information that led to the arrest of their Malaysian clients.
Wanglong pointed out the suspicious coincidence of Liu Ziguang having been out the previous night. Liu Ziguang calmly insisted it was merely a coincidence, as he frequented that pub every week. Wanglong then received another phone call. After hanging up, he slowly approached Liu Ziguang, a pistol in hand, and chillingly revealed that the bar owner was a Chinese Drug Enforcement Police Officer. Liu Ziguang was stunned, realizing Officer Huang's identity had been exposed.
Maintaining a brave front, Liu Ziguang questioned Wanglong's trust in him. Wanglong, with a cold smile, commanded Liu Ziguang to accompany him to the bar, stating that everything would naturally become clear then. Wanglong, his men, and Liu Ziguang arrived outside the bar. Wanglong handed Liu Ziguang a pistol, ordering him to go inside and kill the police officer within three minutes to prove his loyalty and innocence regarding the information leak.
He warned that failure to comply would leave Liu Ziguang unprotected from the "boss." As the minutes ticked by, Wanglong waited outside. A sharp gunshot echoed from inside the bar. Wanglong and his men rushed in to find Officer Huang lying dead in a pool of blood, and Liu Ziguang holding the smoking pistol.
Wanglong embraced a visibly shaken and ashen-faced Liu Ziguang, declaring his suspicions gone and praising him for his "first kill," then ordered his men to take Liu Ziguang for a drink to calm down. Later, Wanglong sent Liu Ziguang to an international drug dealers' gathering aboard a luxurious yacht in international waters. While on the yacht, Liu Ziguang received a phone call from Wanglong, who frantically warned him that police were closing in and told him to escape immediately. Liu Ziguang raced to the deck and plunged into the sea, but tragically hit his head on a reef, blood staining the water around him.
