He expressed their happiness and even promised wedding candies when they got married, instructing Xiao Huang to edit out his "cut" commands.
Xiao Huang recorded, wondering if Gu Zi Chen had lost his mind. Later, Gu Zi Chen cryptically told a baffled Su Nian Nian to keep an eye on her Moments for "big news." Song Yuxi recounted to Chu Xia Su Nian Nian's bravery during a recent fight at the school gate, where she diffused the situation by falsely claiming to have called the police. Song Yuxi also criticized Gu Zi Chen for his perceived timidity and inaction in that incident.
Su Nian Nian, overhearing, dismissed these comments, stating she had no relationship with Gu Zi Chen and he wouldn't help without personal gain. Meanwhile, Ye Xing Yu had moved into Gu Zi Chen’s dorm. During a conversation, Ye Xing Yu praised Gu Zi Chen for subtly intervening in the cafeteria incident by calling Mr. Jiang Mu, acknowledging Gu Zi Chen's newfound maturity. Gu Zi Chen, downplaying his actions, simply said he had "grown up" and that fighting was childish.
As punishment for the cafeteria incident, Mr. Jiang Mu ordered The Three Remarkable of Qun Ying to apologize to Su Nian Nian and clean the academic building for a week, threatening expulsion if they failed. The trio delivered a terse "Sorry" written on a note. Chu Xia was unimpressed by their insincere apology, but Su Nian Nian suggested letting it go, understanding it was already difficult for them.
Gu Zi Chen’s mother, accompanied by Secretary Liu, visited the school, hoping to meet Gu Zi Chen’s rumored girlfriend. While The Three Remarkable of Qun Ying performed their cleaning duties, Song Yuxi and Chu Xia delighted in their predicament, even playfully directing them. Su Nian Nian, however, felt uneasy, fearing their punishment would only deepen their resentment towards her. After classes, Su Nian Nian went alone to the equipment room to return some items. The Three Remarkable of Qun Ying, still cleaning, noticed her. Zhao Mingyuan seized the opportunity and locked the door, trapping Su Nian Nian inside.
Chen Yuan expressed concern, reminding Zhao Mingyuan that Su Nian Nian had helped them before and that trapping her, especially as it grew dark, was dangerous and risky. Zhao Mingyuan, however, angrily dismissed his concerns, calling him a "traitor" and asserting that Su Nian Nian deserved punishment for causing them trouble and for embarrassing him earlier. He decided to leave her there for a few hours.
Inside, Su Nian Nian’s cries for help went unanswered, and her panic escalated into terror when the last flickering light bulb died, plunging her into complete darkness—a nightmare for her severe claustrophobia. Frantically, Su Nian Nian searched her phone contacts, desperate to call Song Yuxi, Chu Xia, or Ye Xing Yu, but realized she hadn't saved their numbers. Close to tears, she then spotted Gu Zi Chen's number, realizing he must have saved it when he repaired her phone.
Without hesitation, she dialed him. Gu Zi Chen, who was dining with his mother, answered the phone. Su Nian Nian tearfully informed him she was locked in the equipment room and experiencing a claustrophobic attack. Gu Zi Chen immediately reassured her, telling her not to be afraid, and hastily excused himself from his mother, instructing Uncle Liu to take her home safely, as he rushed back to the school.
He called Su Nian Nian again, telling her he was almost there, but his phone died shortly after she mentioned hearing a rat, further terrifying her. Meanwhile, Ye Xing Yu, leaving after guitar practice, heard faint sounds from the equipment room. He called out, and Su Nian Nian, relieved, identified herself, explaining she was locked inside.
Ye Xing Yu identified himself and offered to find a teacher for the keys, but Su Nian Nian, overwhelmed by fear, pleaded with him to stay. He agreed, sitting outside the door and playing a newly composed, though unfinished, song on his guitar to soothe her, promising to remain until help arrived. Gu Zi Chen arrived but, seeing Ye Xing Yu already comforting Su Nian Nian, decided not to interfere.
Instead, he quickly ran to fetch Mr. Jiang Mu and the school doctor, Dr. Jin. Unaware of the unfolding crisis, Song Yuxi and Chu Xia, realizing Su Nian Nian was still missing, went looking for her. They encountered Mr. Jiang Mu, who informed them about Su Nian Nian's distress. The Three Remarkable of Qun Ying, deciding to finally release Su Nian Nian after several hours, were then shocked to see her being carried to the infirmary.
Guilt-ridden and worried she might be ill, Zhao Mingyuan immediately warned his companions not to return to the scene or admit their involvement, emphasizing that there was "no evidence" and they should "don't admit it." Mr. Jiang Mu, accompanied by Dr. Jin, arrived at the equipment room. Upon opening the door, they found Su Nian Nian unconscious. Dr. Jin quickly diagnosed her with claustrophobia, a lingering effect from a childhood illness.
Ye Xing Yu, without hesitation, scooped her up and rushed her to the infirmary. In the infirmary, Su Nian Nian regained consciousness. When asked if she saw who locked her in, she vaguely stated she saw no one suspicious and attributed the incident to someone inadvertently locking the door. Dr. Jin recommended a few days of rest at home for Su Nian Nian to prevent recurrence and admonished Mr. Jiang Mu for his perceived lack of diligence.
Su Nian Nian declined to inform her father to avoid worrying him. Mr. Jiang Mu then suggested she rest in the dorm for two days, with Song Yuxi and Chu Xia looking after her. Gu Zi Chen found himself restless all night, deeply affected by seeing Ye Xing Yu comforting Su Nian Nian, realizing that Su Nian Nian had entered his heart.
Later, Su Nian Nian went to Mr. Jiang Mu’s office and, to his shock, announced her intention to withdraw from the university. Mr. Jiang Mu promised a thorough investigation into the locking incident to ensure justice, urging her to reconsider. Su Nian Nian clarified that the incident was an "accident" she didn't wish to pursue. She explained that she felt unsuited for Qun Ying and had always intended to return to a previous school to repeat her studies.
Mr. Jiang Mu tried to persuade her, acknowledging her academic potential but stressing the opportunities Qun Ying might offer. Su Nian Nian, firm in her decision, reiterated that her time at Qun Ying was merely a "small chapter," a valuable experience for making friends, but not her ultimate path. Realizing he couldn't easily convince her, Mr. Jiang Mu recalled the university's policy requiring parental signatures for withdrawal.
He granted Su Nian Nian an extended leave of absence, suggesting she return home to discuss her decision with her father. As Su Nian Nian packed her belongings for her long leave, her roommates expressed their sadness and curiosity about her return. She assured them she would be back once she recovered and generously gave her meal card to Song Yuxi. She planned to surprise her father by arriving unannounced.
Just as she was about to depart, Song Yuxi discovered the video Gu Zi Chen had uploaded through Xiao Huang, where he publicly claimed to be in a long-term, happily reconciled relationship with Su Nian Nian. Song Yuxi, astonished, showed the video to Su Nian Nian, who watched in disbelief.
