During class, Su Nian Nian called out names, noticing that The Three Remarkable of Qun Ying were absent. When she asked if anyone knew why, He Xiao informed her that they were in their dormitory, claiming to have eaten something bad and were suffering from stomach aches. Chu Xia burst into laughter, finding it too coincidental for all three to be sick at the same time.
Later, Mr. Jiang Mu learned of their truancy and visited their dorm, sternly warning them that any further such incidents would lead to their expulsion. The Three Remarkable quickly apologized, assuring him they were cured and would not cause trouble again. The school announced that Su Nian Nian’s English morning reading program was highly praised and would be implemented across the entire university.
This news was met with dismay by some students, especially Zhao Mingyuan, who felt Su Nian Nian was now "afflicting the whole school." Other students, already discontent with Su Nian Nian's strict study plans, began to emulate The Three Remarkable’s absence. Song Yu Xi even called Su Nian Nian to explain she couldn't participate in the study plan due to a part-time job, which she considered a "special occasion" concerning her "life and future."
During a morning reading session, Gu Zi Chen was found sleeping. When a student named Lv Meng Nan questioned why Su Nian Nian was lenient with Gu Zi Chen but harsh on others, accusing her of favoritism due to a rumored relationship, Su Nian Nian denied it. She then asked Gu Zi Chen to recite the English content she had just taught.
To everyone's astonishment, Gu Zi Chen stood up and flawlessly recited the passage from memory, proving his competence and silencing Lv Meng Nan. He then nonchalantly asked if he could go back to sleep. Observing the near-empty classroom, Gu Zi Chen sarcastically remarked on the effectiveness of Su Nian Nian's study plan, suggesting it was counterproductive to impose her methods on others.
Su Nian Nian, though initially defiant, began to reflect on Gu Zi Chen's words, wondering if she was indeed imposing her own ideas too much. That weekend, instead of attending self-study, The Three Remarkable of Qun Ying decided to play cards in a classroom to avoid Mr. Jiang Mu’s detection and Su Nian Nian’s study plan. They were determined to "wear her down."
Unbeknownst to them, a group of thugs, led by Brother Wang, quietly infiltrated the campus, looking for Zhao Mingyuan to settle a score. They intended to catch him by surprise. He Xiao, entering the building, was stopped by the thugs and overheard their plan to "catch a turtle in a jar," realizing they were targeting Zhao Mingyuan. He quickly rushed to Su Nian Nian to inform her of the danger. Chu Xia, upon hearing the news, immediately took action.
While Su Nian Nian rallied their classmates to stall the thugs, Chu Xia ran to the mechanical classroom, convincing students there that their teacher was summoning them and they needed to bring their tools. When Su Nian Nian and her classmates confronted Brother Wang and his gang, Chu Xia arrived with a large group of students carrying various tools. Intimidated by the sheer number of students and their tools, Brother Wang's gang quickly backed down.
Su Nian Nian demanded that they promise to never bother Zhao Mingyuan again, and Brother Wang swore on "Batman, Spider-Man, and Iron Man" that they wouldn't. The thugs then fled. Despite being rescued, Zhao Mingyuan, still proud, haughtily told Su Nian Nian he didn't need a woman's help, leaving her and her classmates feeling unappreciated.
Su Nian Nian's father, Su Da Zhi, also picked her up from school that weekend, expressing his happiness about her being a "real class monitor" for the first time. Happy to see his daughter, he reminded her of the benefits of attending a school so close to home. Recalling Ye Xing Yu’s advice to understand her classmates’ diverse backgrounds, Su Nian Nian began to observe them more closely.
She learned that Zhao Mingyuan, far from being idle, worked part-time at a car repair shop every week to support his family, including paying for his own tuition and living expenses. He also helped his parents sell fruit, and his younger sister, Xiao Jia, even collected waste to help him pay school fees.
Su Nian Nian also discovered that Zhu Cheng had a passion for electric welding, often practicing in the classroom and working various jobs to save up for his own welding machine. This deeper understanding made Su Nian Nian realize her previous assumptions were wrong and that she hadn't truly understood her own roommates either. With this new perspective, Su Nian Nian decided to abandon the mandatory morning reading plan, recognizing it wasn't suitable for all students.
She proposed a new idea to Mr. Jiang Mu: organizing a school-wide event or competition. She believed this would not only motivate students but also foster unity. Mr. Jiang Mu supported her initiative, encouraging her to proceed freely. Su Nian Nian enlisted Chu Xia and Ye Xing Yu to research past school competitions. Their investigation, however, revealed that Qun Ying had very little history of participating in or winning any major competitions, beyond some talent-based activities.
Ye Xing Yu suggested approaching Gu Zi Chen for help, knowing his family's influence could easily resolve their problem. Su Nian Nian, however, immediately rejected the idea, stating she would never ask Gu Zi Chen for help. Meanwhile, Gu Zi Chen faced his own struggles. His attempts to secure startup funds for his ventures were consistently thwarted by his father, Gu Weiye.
Gu Weiye called Gu Zi Chen, revealing he was behind the financial roadblocks and urged his son to come work at his company, promising immediate funds if he complied. Gu Zi Chen angrily recognized his father's manipulation.
