Following the revelation of his family's past, Gu Renqi agrees to undergo intensive, isolated treatment arranged by Lu Xian to manage his worsening condition. Before leaving, he meets with Shi Shuangjiao for what he states will be their final time. He acknowledges that their relationship is a source of pain and, knowing they cannot be together, selflessly wishes for her happiness above his own.
Understanding her passion for her work, he entrusts his colleagues with key responsibilities—Hu You with the lab, Wu Yu with equipment, and Li Dongxian as a continuing partner—and hands over company plans to Uncle Jin before departing. He urges Shi Shuangjiao to take care of herself and find happiness. After their farewell, Shi Shuangjiao decides to "archive" her painful memories and returns to Kelin Zhishang, determined to carry on her mission of bringing the warmth of family to others.
She also notes a positive change in her brother, Shi Junjie, who has surprisingly become a diligent student. As his treatment begins, Gu Renqi's condition deteriorates. Amidst this pressure, Li Dongxian faces a personal crisis when he learns his grandmother's nursing home is closing due to financial hardship, forcing the elderly residents to be separated. Seeing an opportunity to secure a new project for her department, Shi Shuangjiao proposes that they offer cleaning services to the nursing home to improve its environment and attract new residents, potentially saving it from closure.
During a survey at the nursing home with Hu You and Wu Yu, Shi Shuangjiao observes the residents' loneliness. Wu Yu, normally quiet, discovers he can easily connect with the elderly just by listening to their stories, which reminds him of his own grandmother. This leads Shi Shuangjiao to a profound realization: more than just physical care, the seniors crave companionship.
Inspired, she devises a revolutionary plan: allow young people to live in the nursing home rent-free in exchange for cleaning and spending time with the residents. This symbiotic relationship would ease the financial burden on the youth while enriching the elders' lives. Her colleagues, though finding the idea unconventional, agree it is compelling and decide to present it to the board. Later, Li Dongxian updates Gu Renqi on the company, mentioning the board rejected Shi Shuangjiao’s innovative proposal.
Immediately seeing its potential, Gu Renqi provides practical advice through Li Dongxian, suggesting they screen applicants and use a shift system to manage lifestyle differences. He stresses that Li Dongxian must not reveal his involvement, as the board has already dismissed the plan. He suggests that winning an award or gaining recognition for the project might force the board to reconsider. Meanwhile, Shi Shuangjiao reflects on what Gu Renqi would do.
