After Shi Shuangjiao quickly denies it and leaves, Hu You confronts Gu Renqi, revealing he saw Gu Renqi cupping Shi Shuangjiao's face. Hu You dismisses the implied excuse of grit in her eye and physically demonstrates their close proximity, voicing his suspicion.
Later, Hu You questions Li Dongxian about any changes in Gu Renqi or Shi Shuangjiao, but Li Dongxian is evasive, simply stating that one is male and the other is female. Meanwhile, Gu Renqi expresses his relief to Shi Shuangjiao that they weren't discovered. Shi Shuangjiao suggests they could just make their relationship public, but Gu Renqi hesitates.
He explains that as a newly appointed deputy team leader, he fears going public now would make colleagues think she advanced through connections, undermining his hard-earned authority. Lu Xian notices a troubling detail when he sees Gu Renqi meticulously wiping his car handle with a disinfectant wipe after dropping Shi Shuangjiao off, a habit linked to his mysophobia.
Concerned, Lu Xian consults a professional, Teacher Bai, asking if someone with mysophobia pretending to be better is actually in a more severe state. To quell office gossip about his love life, Gu Renqi makes a stunning announcement. Interrupting his colleagues' speculation, he declares that he has been in love with Shi Shuangjiao for a long time, pursued her extensively, and that she is now officially his girlfriend. The news, however, sparks a heated argument between Gu Renqi's grandfather and Shi Yingxiong.
The grandfather confronts Shi Yingxiong, bluntly stating that the two are not a suitable match and that Shi Shuangjiao's "impure motives" are damaging the Gu family's reputation. Though he defended his daughter, Shi Yingxiong is now against the relationship, sensing the Gu family's disdain. When Gu Renqi plans a date with Shi Shuangjiao, Shi Yingxiong feigns illness, complaining of chest tightness and dizziness to keep her at home. When she protests that they work at the same company, he unreasonably tells her to find a new job. At school, Shi Junjie, known as the most handsome student, captivates the audience with his singing and is asked to perform the finale at the upcoming welcome party. Refusing to believe the explanation about his condition, Shi Yingxiong reveals that Gu Renqi's grandfather visited and accused Shi Shuangjiao of tarnishing their family's name. Furious, he tells Gu Renqi to leave and inform his grandfather that the Shi family has no interest in their status.
Following the confrontation, Gu Renqi reassures Shi Shuangjiao they will face the opposition together. Determined, Shi Shuangjiao tells Lu Xian she will prove their love is pure to both her father and Gu Renqi's grandfather. During their talk, Lu Xian questions the two-million-yuan compensation offered by the "ordinary driver" in her mother's car accident, which her frugal father refused.
Shi Shuangjiao also worries about Gu Renqi's grandfather, a ruthless man whose strict, elite upbringing may have contributed to Gu Renqi's mysophobia. Independently, Gu Renqi calls Shi Junjie for help, while Shi Shuangjiao calls Zhu Yan to strategize about her father. Distraught and intoxicated, Wang Qianqian calls Li Dongxian, confessing her uncontrollable feelings for him. Simultaneously, the police call Li Dongxian, informing him a drunk woman calling his name is in the street.
He rushes to her side, where she clings to him, pouring out her heartbreak. Deeply moved, Li Dongxian apologizes for hurting her, admitting he thinks of her constantly but kept his distance to protect her. He confesses that if he could start over, he would love her without hesitation. Their emotional barriers finally crumble as they share a passionate kiss.
Gu Renqi buys a large selection of facial masks for Shi Shuangjiao and has Shi Junjie deliver them with a cake. However, Shi Yingxiong confiscates all the gifts. Later, Shi Junjie reveals to Shi Shuangjiao that he had a backup plan and managed to deliver a hidden gift, scoring a small victory against her father's blockade.
