Lin Luojing found the situation utterly bewildering, with Zhong Wumei having lost his memory of her, and Wen Ru Yu taking advantage. Her confusion deepened with the sudden return of Liu Xiuwen, who, now a prince, had specifically requested her presence in the court. As they walked through the market, Lin Luojing confided in Liu Xiuwen, feeling as though an entire lifetime had passed.

She remembered when he was her bodyguard, silently protecting her and accompanying her to the market where they once bought the Qi Yu sword. Now, he was a prince, and she was accompanying him, a shift she described as truly amazing. Liu Xiuwen smiled, assuring her that more wonderful things were yet to come. Zhong Wumei, observing their lighthearted conversation, intervened and told Lin Luojing to return to the mansion, citing concern about her having prepared his medicine.

Lin Luojing asserted that Xi Que and Yu were already taking care of it and there was no need for her to return, further irritating Zhong Wumei. Lin Luojing internally noted Zhong Wumei's declining favorability but defiantly linked arms with Liu Xiuwen, declaring she wouldn't go back, as being stuck in the mansion with a "boring and heartless man" was too dull.

In response, Zhong Wumei grabbed Wen Ru Yu’s hand, proclaiming that since the mansion was tedious, he would openly tour the market with his beloved consort and indulge her every wish. Liu Xiuwen then commented to Lin Luojing that despite Zhong Wumei's amnesia, his behavior towards her remained just as childish. Lin Luojing agreed, recognizing his immaturity, and realized that provoking him seemed to increase his favorability towards her. She resolved to stimulate him more in the future.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Zhang Ji found Xi Que looking downcast as she prepared medicine. Xi Que lamented Lin Luojing's distress, expressing concern that Wen Ru Yu would take advantage of her young lady while Zhong Wumei was out touring Sheng Jing with Liu Xiuwen. Zhang Ji tried to comfort her, explaining that Zhong Wumei was only suffering from amnesia and things would improve once he regained his memories.

He also mentioned that Zhong Wumei had asked about Lin Luojing again today, and he had praised her highly, hoping it would move the prince. To further cheer Xi Que up, Zhang Ji presented her with a box of rouge he had bought at the market, which delighted her. Shortly after, Shan entered the kitchen and dismissed Xi Que, intending to poison the medicine herself.

However, Yu arrived just in time to stop her, just as a servant rushed in to inform Shan that Wen Ru Yu needed her to prepare her makeup at the market. Yu, suspicious of Shan's intentions, noted that it was lucky Wen Ru Yu had called her away. Yu then told Xi Que that Wen Ru Yu wanted her to continue preparing Zhong Wumei's medicine, as she trusted only Xi Que, and offered to clean the guest room herself.

Back in the market, Zhong Wumei overheard Liu Xiuwen express that he missed the people of Sheng Jing, not just its bustling market. Zhong Wumei promptly embraced Liu Xiuwen, interrupting him, and jokingly asked if he was the "person he missed," referencing Zhang Ji's earlier mention of their past acquaintance.

Zhong Wumei then steered the conversation to a tour, pointing out a seemingly ordinary brick and grandiosely declaring it the "Heaven Brick," revered by Sheng Jing's people for its magnificent aura and history. He then pointed to a simple pole, calling it "The Dragon Pole," emphasizing its impressive height and the idea that true winners are always subtly luxurious. Lin Luojing observed Zhong Wumei’s erratic behavior, wondering if he was remembering things due to her actions.

The group eventually arrived at Sheng Jing River. Standing by the water, Liu Xiuwen approached Lin Luojing, sensing her thoughts. He reminisced about the day they almost drowned together, acknowledging that as a mere bodyguard, he could not fully protect her then, causing her much suffering. He stressed that things were different now; as a prince, he could offer her much more, even if Qi Yu couldn't compare to Sheng Jing.

Lin Luojing gently reminded him that her heart already belonged to someone else. Liu Xiuwen, however, declared he didn't care and reiterated his promise to always protect her, patiently waiting for her to choose him. Feeling remorseful for using Liu Xiuwen to provoke Zhong Wumei, Lin Luojing tried to apologize, but he stopped her, saying she never needed to apologize to him and that he understood her intentions but still didn't mind.

Suddenly, Zhong Wumei, in a daze, stumbled towards the river's edge, seemingly reliving a past memory of someone falling into the water. However, he embraced Wen Ru Yu, mistaking her for Lin Luojing, begging her not to leave him. He pulled Wen Ru Yu to safety, while Lin Luojing, distraught, realized he remembered the event but not that she was the one who shared that moment with him. He had forgotten her entirely.

As night fell, Lin Luojing walked alone, lost in a whirlwind of past sweet memories with Zhong Wumei and the harsh reality of his amnesia. Tears streamed down her face as she remembered all the hopes that turned into disappointment. Jiang Xuanyu found her and draped his cloak over her shoulders, offering comfort. He listened as she expressed her desire to leave Sheng Jing, feeling utterly defeated because Zhong Wumei could not remember her.

She explained that she had held onto hope every day recently, but each day only brought more disappointment, a pain she no longer wished to endure. She asked Jiang Xuanyu to look after Zhong Wumei. Jiang Xuanyu, though understanding her pain, urged her to say a proper goodbye to Zhong Wumei, reminding her of their deep history and cautioning her against leaving with regrets.

Lin Luojing, accepting his wisdom, agreed that even if it felt like a game, she needed to see it through to the end. Meanwhile, Yi Yi confronted Liu Xiuwen, remarking on his changed demeanor and his apparent indifference to Lin Luojing’s sorrow while he drank. Liu Xiuwen acknowledged his transformation, stating he was no longer the bodyguard he once was, but a prince burdened with the responsibility of Qi Yu.

When Yi Yi questioned if his kindness to Lin Luojing was a pretense, Liu Xiuwen revealed his true strategy: his return and identity as a prince were real, but his supposed intent to make peace with Sheng Jing was merely a facade. His true goal was to claim Lin Luojing.

He also suspected Jin Chen, Prince Jing Yuan, was behind Zhong Wumei's amnesia and the recent actions by the King of Bei Yu against Sheng Jing, noting Jin Chen's past connection to the Prime Minister. Liu Xiuwen concluded that since events were already in motion, they should simply observe from the sidelines.
