Lin Luojing, disguised in eunuch clothes, seized an opportunity to enter the palace. Spotting a group of eunuchs, she approached one, attempting to address him as "Eunuch Zhang." The eunuch, whose surname was Liu, corrected her. Lin Luojing quickly apologized, then tried again, calling him "Eunuch Zhang!" The eunuch, still confused, asked who she was. Lin Luojing feigned familiarity, asking if he had forgotten her so quickly, suggesting she might have gotten thinner.

He jokingly retorted that she was getting fatter, but then he recognized her as Xiao Li Zi. Lin Luojing eagerly confirmed her identity. She then casually mentioned that the door to the side hall where they changed clothes was broken, causing her to almost be late. The eunuch explained that the side hall had caught fire in the past and was in disrepair, suggesting they report it after His Majesty's performance.

Lin Luojing successfully slipped into the palace with the group. While navigating the palace corridors, Lin Luojing was startled to see Leng Wu Xie, a known killer, disguised as a woman. She internally mused about how poorly disguised he was, yet no one seemed to notice, much like when Zhong Wumei had cross-dressed previously.

Realizing Leng Wu Xie's presence, along with the mention of bombs, Lin Luojing deduced that her "fake father," the grand chancellor (Lin Fei Yu), was also present and was clearly intent on causing significant trouble. She worried about how she could handle Leng Wu Xie, given his formidable martial arts skills. In the main hall, the Emperor greeted the King of Bei Yu, complimenting his appearance.

However, the King quickly expressed his concerns about ongoing trade disputes affecting merchants from Bei Yu traveling to Sheng Jing, calling it a headache. The Emperor apologized for the governance failure. The King pressed further, highlighting how the Nan Yan waterway issues prevented their goods from reaching Sheng Jing and questioning if the Emperor would renege on previous favorable terms. He demanded a solution.

The Emperor then shifted the topic, bringing up Zhong Wumei's responsibility for water transport and subtly questioning if Wen Ru Yu, the King's daughter, had failed in her duties towards Prince Yuan Zheng, leading to a strained relationship with Bei Yu merchants. Lin Luojing confronted Leng Wu Xie, demanding his identity. He claimed to be a dancer. Lin Luojing, observing his nervousness and realizing he wouldn't recognize her in her eunuch disguise, decided to play along.

She stated that the other Bei Yu dancers were waiting in the side hall and instructed him to follow her, adding that he would serve His Majesty by helping him change clothes in the side hall. Upon hearing "His Majesty," Leng Wu Xie quickly walked away. Lin Luojing noticed a stone and, judging that a direct confrontation wouldn't work against his martial arts, chose to outwit him.

When Leng Wu Xie, sensing he was being followed, ducked into a room, Lin Luojing quickly locked him inside. She then loudly called for guards, fabricating a story that a man disguised as a dancer was attempting to defile palace maids. The guards immediately surrounded and apprehended Leng Wu Xie, much to Lin Luojing's satisfaction.

Lin Fei Yu, who was disguised as a eunuch in the main hall, realized that Leng Wu Xie, whom he expected to act, was nowhere to be found, leading him to decide to proceed with the assassination himself. As the eunuchs served food, he took a dish and, approaching the throne, pulled out a dagger, aiming it at the person sitting there.

However, the Emperor blocked the attack and surprisingly addressed Lin Fei Yu as "father-in-law," revealing that the figure on the throne was actually Zhong Wumei. Zhong Wumei explained that his Royal Brother was unwell, and he had taken his place, thus foiling Lin Fei Yu's plan. Both Zhong brothers then removed their human-skin masks, revealing their true appearances. A terrified Lin Fei Yu desperately called out to the King of Bei Yu for help.

However, the King feigned ignorance, claiming not to understand Lin Fei Yu's pleas. It was revealed that Zhong Wumei had already met with the King of Bei Yu and persuaded him to reveal everything he knew about Lin Fei Yu's schemes. Lin Fei Yu, realizing he had been tricked by this elaborate plot, accused Zhong Wumei of being sinister. Zhong Wumei countered that such an elaborate act was necessary to expose Lin Fei Yu.

The King of Bei Yu then openly condemned Lin Fei Yu, stating that Lin Fei Yu had manipulated and incited him first to profit from their schemes, so he couldn't be blamed. Zhong Wumei further revealed that he had the imperial physician examine the medicine Lin Fei Yu gave to Yu'er, exposing its malicious nature. The King, worried that public knowledge would bring shame to Yu'er and imperil Bei Yu, confessed his oversight.

Zhong Wumei calmly explained that the Grand Chancellor (Lin Fei Yu) was only using him to destabilize Sheng Jing and then destroy Bei Yu. Convinced, the King agreed to cooperate with Zhong Wumei in exchange for a promise that Yu'er would always remain Zhong Wumei's wife and would never be abandoned. Despite a moment of hesitation, Zhong Wumei ultimately agreed to the condition.

Seeing his plan unraveled and with no escape, Lin Fei Yu threatened to ignite explosives planted throughout the palace, intending to perish with everyone. Zhong Wumei, concerned for Lin Luojing, warned her to stay away, but she defiantly approached, declaring her capability and trust in herself. Lin Fei Yu, calling her "good daughter," invited her to join him in death. Lin Luojing, however, presented him with a letter, challenging him to read it if he truly dared to detonate bombs.

The letter revealed a long-buried truth: Lin Fei Yu's first wife, Su Xin, had died eighteen years prior not from a natural difficult childbirth, but from accumulated grief. She had discovered his secret affair with Noble Concubine Shen within the palace walls. Out of profound love for him and a desire to protect his and the Emperor's reputation, she had suffered in silence, leading to her death during labor. Lin Fei Yu was stunned, claiming ignorance.

Lin Luojing pressed on, accusing him of being consumed by his love for Shen Si Wan, completely oblivious to Su Xin's silent devotion and sacrifice. She reminded him that not one, but two lives were lost—his wife and their unborn daughter, the real Lin Luojing. Overwhelmed by guilt, Lin Fei Yu expressed remorse.

Lin Luojing then reminded him of Noble Concubine Shen's sacrifice, who had also taken her own life right there in the palace, pleading to the Emperor for his life. She challenged him, asking what he had done in return for these two women who died for him. Lin Fei Yu, in his grief, still blamed the Zhong family and Zhong Shi Li's selfishness for their deaths.

Lin Luojing then shifted his focus to his current family: his wife, and their daughters, Yi Ren and You'er. She revealed that after his arrest, they were to be exiled, but the Emperor had mercifully pardoned them from guilt by association, allowing them to pray for his well-being. Lin Fei Yu dismissed the Emperor's compassion, claiming the Emperor could easily end anyone's happiness with a single decree.

Lin Luojing countered, emphasizing that igniting the explosives would condemn his current family and herself, who had endured much blame for him. She accused him of selfishness, of inflicting his hatred on innocent lives, and warned of the widespread devastation and endless cycle of revenge if he proceeded. Moved by her words, Lin Fei Yu acknowledged his actions stemmed from his own obsession.

The Emperor, Zhong Shi Li, also spoke, recalling their past friendship and shared ambitions for Sheng Jing, lamenting how far Lin Fei Yu had strayed. He offered protection to Lin Fei Yu's remaining family. Lin Fei Yu, though still defiant, conceded defeat to fate and himself, accepting his capture. He confessed his long-held hatred but admitted its futility, acknowledging that even his beloved Wan'er had developed affection and compassion for the Emperor.

He expressed a desire not to fail any more women he had wronged. The Emperor then ordered Lin Fei Yu to be taken away. With Lin Fei Yu apprehended, Lin Luojing finally collapsed from exhaustion. Zhong Wumei stayed by her bedside. When she awoke a full day later, Zhong Wumei shared the good news: the Emperor had officially reinstated her title as royal consort and cleared her of all accusations.

Meanwhile, the King of Bei Yu pressed Zhong Wumei to fulfill his promise to never abandon Wen Ru Yu. Wen Ru Yu, however, intervened, stopping her father and expressing her humiliation at his insistence. She accused him of prioritizing his own reputation and Bei Yu's honor over her feelings, asking him not to embarrass her further. She then announced her departure, taking her leave from the Emperor.

Zhong Wumei, concerned, wondered if she might do something rash, but Wen Ru Yu quickly assured him she was not foolish. She then asked Zhong Wumei to leave, stating she needed to speak with Lin Luojing privately. While Zhong Wumei impatiently waited outside, Wen Ru Yu called him aside after her conversation with Lin Luojing.

She revealed the depth of her long-standing affection, reminiscing about first seeing him at a hunting event ten years prior and her childhood dream of marrying him. She acknowledged, however, that the young man she once admired now had another in his heart, accepting that her dream would remain unfulfilled. When Zhong Wumei apologized for failing her, Wen Ru Yu dismissed his apology.

She explained that his recent act of drawing her eyebrows, though a pretense, had made her genuinely happy, reminding her of her parents' affection. She declared that this simple act was enough, confirming she was letting go of her long-held dream. When Zhong Wumei reiterated his promise to her father to care for her, Wen Ru Yu proudly rejected it.

She stated that her childhood fantasies were just that, and as the Princess of Bei Yu, she did not need his pitying care. She declared that it was his loss, not hers, and that she had not "lost" to Lin Luojing. She asserted that she would find a man worthy of her, a powerful warrior from the steppes who would have eyes only for her, just as Zhong Wumei had eyes only for Lin Luojing.

As a final gesture, she presented Zhong Wumei with a Bei Yu token, inviting him to seek her help should he ever be in need, and warned him that she would not forgive her father if he continued to trouble Zhong Wumei. With that, she took her leave, and Zhong Wumei, with a final apology, conceded that their parting was perhaps for the best. A guard alerted Zhong Wumei to an urgent matter.

Zhong Wumei frantically asked Xi Que about Lin Luojing's whereabouts. Xi Que, feigning reluctance, confessed that Lin Luojing, having endured enough hardship in the mansion, had gone to meet Liu Xiuwen. She implied Lin Luojing intended to leave Sheng Jing with him and become his lover. Zhong Wumei, frustrated by the recurring pattern of such incidents, resolved that this would be the last time. He quickly rode off to intercept them.

Upon finding Lin Luojing and Liu Xiuwen, Zhong Wumei confronted Liu Xiuwen, demanding to know his intentions with "his woman." Liu Xiuwen retorted, accusing Zhong Wumei of hypocrisy, given his previous cold treatment of Lin Luojing. Ignoring Liu Xiuwen, Zhong Wumei pleaded with Lin Luojing directly, begging her not to listen to Liu Xiuwen or leave with him.

He confessed his faults, admitting he should not have lost his memory, forgotten her, or delayed telling her the truth after regaining his memories, earnestly seeking her forgiveness. Liu Xiuwen interjected, questioning if Zhong Wumei only valued Lin Luojing after losing her and implying it was too late. Lin Luojing sharply told Liu Xiuwen to shut up. Zhong Wumei reaffirmed his love for Lin Luojing, stating that even during his amnesia, he had fallen for her anew.

He vowed to never let her go again, no matter the circumstances, and swore that such painful events would never recur. He declared that if she chose to leave with Liu Xiuwen, he would accompany them. Lin Luojing clarified that she had merely come to bid farewell to Liu Xiuwen and express her gratitude for his long-standing care. She was returning to the city.

Liu Xiuwen, who had initially planned to visit the Qi Yu Chamber of Commerce, had suddenly decided not to go back there and intended to accompany her back to the city. Zhong Wumei realized Xi Que had deliberately misled him, finding her mischief amusing and effective. He then asked Lin Luojing whether she would ride his horse or Liu Xiuwen's.

Without waiting for an answer, he swiftly lifted her onto his horse, declaring he would never let her go again, despite her protests. As Zhong Wumei and Lin Luojing rode away, Yi Yi gently reminded Liu Xiuwen that it was time for them to return. Liu Xiuwen, watching them depart, somberly agreed. He acknowledged his self-deception and the pain of being abandoned once more. Resolving to find a new path, he declared that some avenues were closed to him.

He then shifted his focus, revealing a new, unwavering ambition: to acquire the Zhong family's protected crystal bead. He recognized that only Zhong Wumei knew its location and decided that Lin Luojing, being close to the Zhong family without suspicion, was the key to obtaining it. From that moment, he vowed that nothing would deter him, and anyone who stood in his way would be met with force.
