Xiaoyu reported to Prince Jing Yuan that the Yuan Zheng Mansion was quite eventful, as Zhong Wumei had expelled Lin Luojing early that morning. Prince Jing Yuan questioned whether their actions were merely a show. Xiaoyu insisted it wasn't an act, as Lin Luojing was still heartbroken and drinking heavily at Wen Xiang Lou. Prince Jing Yuan noted that they just needed to wait for Lin Fei Yu to achieve his goal.

He warned Xiaoyu to be cautious and stated that Lin Luojing was now someone else's concern, so Xiaoyu didn't need to worry about her. At Wen Xiang Lou, Lin Luojing, disguised as a man, was spending lavishly, gifting expensive clothes from Shi San Yu Costume Shop to the women there. When they offered to perform a new dance, Lin Luojing dismissed it as boring, asking for something more original. One woman complimented her, saying she was unlike other men.

This comment triggered Lin Luojing's sadness, and she began to lament men's fickle nature, their sweet words turning into abandonment. She couldn't comprehend how someone could simply forget her, especially since she wasn't a robot. She bitterly called Zhong Wumei a "brainless, tsundere savage" and asserted her identity as an independent woman, questioning why she should grieve for him. To alleviate the somber mood, the women suggested a staring contest.

This immediately brought back memories of similar contests with Zhong Wumei, causing Lin Luojing to fly into a rage, accidentally dislodging her fake beard. The women recognized her as the woman who had previously caused a scene at Wen Xiang Lou before marrying into the Yuan Zheng Mansion. Shocked, they quickly retreated, leaving Lin Luojing alone to furiously throw her belongings and demand more wine, crying in despair. Meanwhile, a triumphant Wen Ru Yu brought tea to Zhong Wumei.

She subtly mentioned Lin Luojing, to which Zhong Wumei replied that Lin Luojing was a troublemaker, and her expulsion was necessary to prevent further chaos and spare Wen Ru Yu any distress. He emphasized that he had severed all ties with Lin Luojing and instructed the guards not to allow her entry.

Wen Ru Yu then asked Zhong Wumei to retrieve her intricately crafted dress from Jiang Xuanyu's shop, explaining that her Royal Father was arriving soon, and she needed to prepare desserts with Shan. Zhong Wumei readily agreed, assuring her that her matters were always a priority for him. He told her to return to her room and wait, promising to be back shortly.

Shan, Wen Ru Yu’s attendant, commented on the medicine's potency, observing Zhong Wumei’s obedience and his personal effort to fetch the dress despite the late hour. She suggested increasing the dosage if necessary, believing he was now completely devoted. Wen Ru Yu, however, worried that too much medicine might make him foolish, but Shan dismissed her concern, saying that as long as he loved her, nothing else mattered. Zhong Wumei then forced his way into Jiang Xuanyu’s closed shop.

Back in her room, Wen Ru Yu, adorned in a beautiful Bei Yu local costume, showed it to Zhong Wumei, explaining its significance as a wedding dress worn by girls for their beloved. Zhong Wumei complimented her beauty. Wen Ru Yu attempted to initiate intimacy, offering to help him change, but Zhong Wumei politely declined. She noted their long period without intimate conversation, but he deflected, citing pending paperwork and the cool night air.

Wen Ru Yu, growing frustrated, pressed him for their "proper wedding night," expressing her unease that despite being the Consort, she wasn't truly recognized as his wife. She demanded an explanation. Zhong Wumei acknowledged his promise, praised her beauty in the exquisite dress, and called it a blessing. He even personally drew her eyebrows and spoke sweet words, which deeply touched Wen Ru Yu.

He promised to arrange a suitable day to declare her the true mistress of the Yuan Zheng Mansion and to fulfill his commitments step by step, asking for her patience until he could give her a proper wedding. Waking up from her drunken stupor, Lin Luojing pieced together clues from Zhong Wumei’s past words.

She recalled him saying she had no birth parents to educate her, a fact known only by a few high-ranking individuals present when her false father, the grand chancellor, orchestrated his rebellion, and subsequently covered up by the Emperor to avoid royal scandal. Neither Zhang Ji nor Xi Que knew this detail. Given Zhong Wumei’s amnesia, he shouldn’t have known this information unless his memory had returned. The system confirmed her suspicion, congratulating her on discovering Zhong Wumei’s recovery.

Lin Luojing pondered why he hid it. The system provided hints, referencing the "pleasure boat incident," "Qing Flower Poison," "shortest straw," and "seven days left to live," also reminding her of Zhong Wumei's past efforts to protect her from water and his seemingly harsh words and "divorce notice." She realized he deliberately pushed her away with extreme actions to shield her from danger, and his recent closeness to Wen Ru Yu was another tactic to drive her away.

She chastised herself for nearly falling for his ruse. Concerned, she asked if he was in danger again. The system confirmed an impending major event and a greater danger for Zhong Wumei, stating that critical clues could be found in the grand chancellor's mansion. Without hesitation, Lin Luojing resolved to help her beloved. Lin Luojing, now awake from her drunken stupor, had a conversation with Liu Xiuwen, who revealed he had followed her out of concern.

Lin Luojing confessed her struggle, admitting she had again been swayed by Zhong Wumei's words despite their intended final farewell. She reflected on their past conversations about wandering the world together, now realizing that true distance lay not in miles, but in hearts that were no longer connected. She then fell asleep on Liu Xiuwen's lap. Liu Xiuwen listened patiently, acknowledging his own inescapable mission but reaffirming his commitment to give her his best love.

Lin Luojing then told Liu Xiuwen she urgently needed to visit the grand chancellor's mansion. He didn't inquire further, simply stating that if she had a compelling reason, he wouldn't ask questions. He then renewed his invitation for her to visit the town of Lin Zhen with him after her current task.

Upon arriving at the grand chancellor’s abandoned mansion, Lin Luojing found her way through an unsealed back door, noting the absence of dust or cobwebs, which suggested recent activity. Inside, she discovered sulfur, nitre, cotton thread, and a map. Empty bowls and wine jars indicated that about a dozen people had recently gathered there. She recognized the sulfur and nitre as ingredients for gunpowder, and the cotton thread as a fuse.

She deduced that the grand chancellor had hired people to manufacture gunpowder there, with the intention of detonating it in the Palace. She urgently wondered how she could prevent this catastrophe. Lin Luojing rushed to find Jiang Xuanyu. Both simultaneously exclaimed that Zhong Wumei had recovered his memory.

Jiang Xuanyu explained that after seeing Lin Luojing the previous day, he attempted to visit Zhong Wumei but was turned away by the mansion guards, who cited Consort Wen Ru Yu's order forbidding entry to outsiders. He returned to his shop and worked late into the night on an urgent order from Nan Yan. In the deep of night, Zhong Wumei appeared to collect Wen Ru Yu’s dress.

Jiang Xuanyu, recalling when Lin Luojing had mistakenly worn Zhong Wumei's mother's dress, assumed this new dress was meant to appease Lin Luojing after another quarrel. Zhong Wumei, however, let slip that "this time it's not for her," but for Yu'er, thereby revealing his recovered memory. Jiang Xuanyu, realizing his friend had been feigning amnesia, playfully expressed his anger. Zhong Wumei confessed that his memory returned during their last shared drink.

Lin Luojing, realizing she couldn't risk involving Jiang Xuanyu in the dangerous truth, concocted a story that Zhong Wumei was testing her loyalty by pretending to make her angry and drive her away. Lin Luojing then sought Jiang Xuanyu's help to create a diversion at the Prince's mansion so she could sneak in. Jiang Xuanyu tried a feeble excuse about mosquitoes bothering him and asked a guard to help, but his attempt failed.

Lin Luojing then spotted a beehive in a nearby tree and subtly gestured towards it. Understanding her plan, Jiang Xuanyu leaped up to provoke the beehive. Several guards immediately rushed to stop him from stirring up trouble, creating a perfect opportunity for Lin Luojing to slip unnoticed into the mansion. Inside, Lin Luojing expressed relief that Jiang Xuanyu's distraction had worked.

Xi Que, upon finding Lin Luojing, wept tears of joy, having been worried after Xiaoyu informed her of Lin Luojing's departure. Lin Luojing reassured her and made her promise not to leave her again. Lin Luojing then asked Xi Que to retrieve a token for entering the Palace and the eunuch clothes they had playfully made together.

Disguised in the eunuch attire, Lin Luojing felt confident that no one would recognize her, until she saw a portrait of herself displayed, realizing her beauty could be a hindrance. Remembering her "fake father", she then formulated a new idea.
