Tomb of the Sea Episode 35 Recap
> Tomb of the Sea Recap
Master Black, after rescuing Li Cu, informed him and Su Wan that the large white boa they had encountered was not an ordinary snake but an albino candle dragon, a dominant creature among monsters. This candle dragon, for which even snake cypresses provide sustenance, secretes a volatile information chemical called pheromone. Li Cu, having inhaled these pheromones, experienced vivid hallucinations. Su Wan, displaying his knowledge, correctly identified the substance as pheromone.
When Master Black inquired about the information Li Cu perceived, Li Cu described a chaotic mental state but distinctly recalled seeing a golden, treasure-filled cave rife with traps and a young man dressed in white. Master Black revealed that Li Cu was the second individual he had met capable of interpreting pheromone messages, noting that only three people were known to possess this unique ability.
He explained that Wu Xie, the first, developed this heightened sense of smell after his own was severely impaired from extensive pheromone absorption. Su Wan, concerned about protecting his "precious knowledge" from the snakes, playfully offered to pay Master Black for his protection, asking how much Wu Xie was paying for Li Cu.
Master Black accepted Su Wan as his "small employer" and equipped him with a "black eye" device, but warned that while he could offer protection, complete safety was not guaranteed, and Su Wan must follow his instructions. Su Wan then asked Master Black if he knew Shen Qiong and her current whereabouts, noting that Wu Xie did not know her.
Master Black assured him that they would meet her soon, but first, he would provide them with self-defense items and teach them essential skills. Before moving forward, Master Black commenced their training to evade Black Hairy Boas, using his belt to simulate the snakes' attacks. He deemed Li Cu and Su Wan too slow, despite their protests that his movements were "anti-human."
Master Black countered that he had witnessed someone, "not a human," who could effortlessly dodge even more dangerous attacks and deliver a fatal blow. He then commanded them to follow his lead as they retraced their path. They soon arrived at the location where Liang Wan and Yang Hao had jumped into the water. Master Black stated that they would need to enter the water to find them, acknowledging the uncertainty of their companions' survival.
Su Wan expressed fear of underwater snakes, but Li Cu insisted they must save their friends and that they must enter the water. Master Black urged them to stay close, promising that their previous experiences would suffice for what they were about to face, and that they would emerge into "another world." As they submerged, Li Cu mentioned another cave entrance teeming with Black Hairy Boas and the large White Boa. Master Black merely glanced at him without speaking.
Su Wan's leg wound began to ache, and he cried out in distress. Upon reaching the cave entrance and emerging from the water, they discovered the Black Hairy Boas and the White Boa were inexplicably gone, a fact Li Cu questioned, though Master Black offered no answer. Observing footprints, Master Black deduced that Liang Wan and Yang Hao had separated. Li Cu proposed he rescue Liang Wan while Master Black and Su Wan went for Yang Hao.
However, Master Black insisted they remain together, as he couldn't split himself to save them both. After Li Cu, recalling survival shows, identified smaller footprints as belonging to a woman, they decided to rescue Liang Wan first. Su Wan noted that another day had passed, emphasizing the urgency. Further on, they discovered a sign inscribed with "North Second District, Sixth Yong Road." Su Wan immediately recognized the inscription, connecting it to markings previously found on Huo Zhongshu's mummified body.
Concurrently, a funeral for Xie Yuchen was underway, attended by numerous Nine Clans elders and juniors, including Zhang Rishan, and representatives from the Chen, Li, Qi, and Huo families. Many doubted Xie Yuchen's death, speculating it might be a carefully orchestrated deception. During the ceremony, Master He and another elder calmly played Go, preferring it to feigning sorrow. Master He also voiced concerns about the potential complications of Wu Xie and Xie Yuchen's elaborate plan.
Chief Chen, anticipating the power vacuum, met with Huo Daofu, a Huo Clan relative from Europe with expertise in logistics management and anatomy, to discuss seizing Baosheng's assets. Huo Daofu suggested exploiting the chaos to take over Baosheng's business, regardless of Xie Yuchen's true state, believing it would cripple Wu Xie's efforts in GuTongJing. Huo Ruxue, a formidable presence, also analyzed the situation, identifying the Chen family as the primary obstacle.
Meanwhile, other family members, including an "Auntie Huo," noted the conflicting reports of Xie Yuchen's death from sources like Chen Dingju and Shuangcheng, while the general skepticism at the funeral left many baffled. After Master He concluded his offering of incense, the Li, Qi, Huo, and Chen families openly began disputing control of Baosheng's business. They also declared their intention to travel to GuTongJing, not just for treasure, but to capture Wu Xie.
Despite Zhang Rishan's repeated assertions that GuTongJing contained no treasures, these families remained convinced. Master He recognized their objective: to use Wu Xie's life as leverage to acquire Baosheng. Master He was about to announce a temporary joint management of Baosheng by JinShangZhu (representing the Huo family) and Master Chen. However, before Master He could finalize his decision, Huo Xiuxiu, clad in red, dramatically entered with Wang Pangzi and others.
She presented Xie Yuchen's private USB drive and declared herself Baosheng's new CEO. The other families immediately challenged the authenticity of the USB drive and attempted to accuse Huo Xiuxiu of Xie Yuchen's murder. Huo Xiuxiu vehemently refuted this, stating that Xie Yuchen had died at the hands of the Wang Clan.
She then revealed that members of the Wang Clan had infiltrated the Nine Clans Association, criticizing the other families for prioritizing immediate profits over the security of the entire Nine Clans. She urged them to focus on finding these infiltrators and leave them no opportunity to act. Meanwhile, from a distant location, Wu Xie and Wang Mang monitored the funeral via surveillance.
Wu Xie, who chose to go to Motuo instead of attending the "fake funeral," was initially disappointed by the absence of any discernible Wang Clan members. Wang Mang speculated that those who were most convinced of Xie Yuchen's death were likely Wang Clan operatives. Wu Xie concurred, explaining that the Nine Clans Association members would not openly provoke conflict unless instigated by the Wang Clan.
He concluded that the funeral's objective had been met, and it was now a race against time. While this unfolded, Xie Yuchen was also present at the funeral, disguised. However, whether the plan to identify Wang Clan members was successful remained unknown, as Wu Xie observed for a long time but did not find a single one, suggesting the Wang Clan members were very well hidden.
