Lv Er noted its changed color and suspected it was absorbing human energy, a suspicion Lu Yan confirmed, stating that Dengdeng had been targeted.
Lu Yan explained that a Spirit Clan had drained the consciousness and essence from the affected villagers, poisoning them and causing them to age and lose their minds, turning them into monstrous figures. He stressed the urgency of finding and eliminating this Spirit Clan, warning that without intervention, the victims would succumb to their illness within a day.
Dengdeng remembered that while no one had touched her wedding dress, everyone who fell ill had touched a specific type of waist towel. Lv Er then recalled receiving such a waist towel from Mr. Bu. They rushed to a ruined temple in that direction, where they discovered skeletons of children and Mr. Ya's gown, which Dengdeng instantly recognized as a gift from her father on Mr. Ya's fiftieth birthday. She realized this was the Spirit Clan's nefarious lair. Lu Yan detected no residual energy, confirming the Spirit Clan had departed.
