Thousand Years For You Episode 31 Recap
> Thousand Years For You Recap
Lu Yan found Wei Du, who was surrounded by Zhu Rong's puppets. Wei Du urged Lu Yan to leave, explaining that the puppets were endless. However, Lu Yan insisted they leave together. Zhu Rong mocked their profound brotherhood, then declared his intention to reveal Lieutenant Wei's true colors to Lu Yan. The entire Ancient Shu City transformed into ruins, shrouded in darkness, with white snow falling. Dengdeng, confused by the sudden change, recognized the scene as Yu's Village.
She witnessed a blood-soaked Wei Du, his eyes emotionless, slaughtering the villagers. Dengdeng's mother desperately pleaded with him to stop killing, but Wei Du, seemingly in a murderous frenzy, killed her with a single swing of his sword, staining the white snow crimson. Zhu Rong's voice echoed, taunting Wei Du as a coward who claimed to protect humans but ultimately served him to survive. Wei Du roared, accusing Zhu Rong of manipulating him.
Zhu Rong countered, asserting that Wei Du himself had committed the killings, taking the lives of Dengdeng's entire family. Dengdeng trembled, unable to process the horrifying truth: Wei Du was her mother's killer. Consumed by rage, she raised her gun at Wei Du, but her entire body shook, preventing her from pulling the trigger. Gu Beixi intervened, reminding her that killing Wei Du would only fulfill Zhu Rong's desire.
Wei Du, unable to bear the truth, attempted to take his own life by putting his sword to his throat, but Lu Yan swiftly stopped him. Suddenly, the city reverted to its previous state, but the residents had transformed into monstrous figures, charging towards Dengdeng and Gu Beixi. Lu Yan urged Wei Du, if he truly regretted his actions, to join him in defeating Zhu Rong and avenging the innocent. Wei Du, resolute, decided to pull himself together.
He explained to Lu Yan that he felt tremendous guilt for his actions against Yu Dengdeng's family and the villagers and wished to atone by helping to find Dengdeng. Lu Yan agreed, also explaining that he had planted a soul-tracing technique within Dengdeng's energy, which had since integrated into Zhu Rong's. By following the flow of this energy, they could locate the formation's core.
As Zhu Rong was busy repairing the formation, Lu Yan located him by following the energy's fluctuations. Zhu Rong revealed he was aware of Lu Yan's tactic and countered by expanding the formation to encompass Baile Village, threatening everyone's lives if the core wasn't found quickly. Meanwhile, Gu Beixi, affected by the formation's illusions, became disoriented and tried to embrace Dengdeng. Dengdeng quickly bit her finger and smeared her blood on his face, snapping him out of the trance.
She then realized her blood was pointing towards the formation's core, which led them to an underground palace. Before they could find the mechanism to enter, they were attacked by Ghost Vines. Suddenly, Wei Du appeared, slicing through the vines and allowing them all to tumble into a secret room. Once safe, Dengdeng was shocked to see Wei Du. Her hatred for her mother's killer was immense, but she suppressed her fury for Lu Yan's sake.
Wei Du acknowledged his unforgivable past but pleaded with Dengdeng, arguing that saving her was vital to Lu Yan, who would lose all meaning in life if anything happened to her. Dengdeng, still enraged, conceded that she would kill him the next time they met. As Dengdeng and Gu Beixi moved deeper into the palace, Wei Du stayed behind, drawing his sword to fight the Ghost Vines and cover their retreat.
Lost in twisting corridors, Dengdeng used her wit to find small fireflies, which she believed were incarnations of the spirits of ancient people and could lead the way. She implored them to guide her to the formation's core. The fireflies seemingly understood, leading them to another secret room containing a large, ancient tree that absorbed life energy. Dengdeng realized this tree was responsible for the villagers' expressionless state.
Touching the tree, she was instantly pulled into an illusion where she saw a woman who called her Yun Xi being ensnared by Ghost Vines. Gu Beixi's shouts woke her, and she found her face streaked with tears. Realizing this was another of Zhu Rong's tricks, she quickly used her blood to break the formation within the tree. The secret room began to shake violently, threatening to collapse.
Dengdeng and Gu Beixi rushed out, but Wei Du was nowhere to be seen, only a pool of blood on the ground. Gu Beixi deduced that Wei Du must have fought until his last moment before being dragged away by the Ghost Vines. Outside, Dengdeng and Gu Beixi reunited with Lu Yan, joining him in confronting Zhu Rong. Dengdeng, using her unique abilities, dipped a bullet in her blood and shot Zhu Rong, leaving him astonished.
Just then, Uncle Yu arrived, distributing blood-dipped talismans to everyone and instructing them to place them at the city's four cardinal points to set up a new formation. As Uncle Yu began his ritual, the Ghost Vines dramatically emerged from the ground, carrying Wei Du's body.
