Thousand Years For You Episode 10 Recap
> Thousand Years For You Recap
Dengdeng, startled to see Lu Yan, quickly walked past him into her room. Lu Yan stood at her door and told her he heard she had a toothache, so he brought some medicine. Inside, Dengdeng clenched her fists, reminding herself to calm down. She sternly told herself not to be softhearted just because Lu Yan showed a little kindness, remembering he was the man who had tried to kill her, calling it her biggest problem.
She resolved to put him out of sight and out of mind before going to sleep. Lu Yan looked down at the bottle in his hand, sighed softly, and then quietly left Qingquan Stronghold. The next morning, Dengdeng opened her door and found the bottle on the ground. She realized Lu Yan had specifically come to bring her medicine. Soon after, Peng Dahai rushed in.
Dengdeng handed the bottle to him, telling him not to waste the medicine and to distribute it among the brothers who needed it. Lv Er then solemnly informed Dengdeng that her father had gone missing. Her father, who couldn't go three days without gambling, had been gone for half a month, which was highly unusual. To find him, Dengdeng decided to go to Yingdu.
Lv Er warned her that the path to Yingdu passed through a mysterious market, a heterotopia between Qianhe Town and Yingdu accessible only to members of the spirit clan. While humans couldn't enter freely, the presence of spirit clans outside could be dangerous. Dengdeng insisted, stating that if she were unlucky enough to encounter the spirit clan, bringing the entire stronghold wouldn't help.
Peng Dahai supported her, saying the stronghold would be leaderless if Lv Er left, and boasted about his own strength. Dengdeng added that her blood could deal with "evil things." Convinced, Lv Er agreed to let her go, giving her an amulet he called a family heirloom to save her life at critical moments. Meanwhile, Lu Yan, upon hearing about Dengdeng's journey to Yingdu, immediately instructed A Chang and A Xin to pack their luggage and follow her secretly.
He noted that the mysterious market, with its auction house for precious treasures, would be a good place to find clues about the Millennium Memorial. Lu Yan also stressed the need to clear any obstacles, whether human or spirit clan, before Dengdeng encountered them, as he anticipated troubles on their journey. True to his word, Lu Yan and his men intercepted and dealt with the Yanhuo Stronghold members who had planned to ambush Dengdeng on the road.
As Dengdeng hurried out of Qingquan Stronghold, Peng Dahai frequently raised questions, seemingly trying to slow her down. Gu Beixi then appeared, claiming he was also going to Yingdu to see his childhood fiancée. Dengdeng initially refused his company, but Peng Dahai and Gu Beixi collaboratively persuaded her. Gu Beixi lamented that the Yanhuo Stronghold, still bitter from their previous defeat, would target him if he traveled alone due to his known alliance with Qingquan Stronghold.
Peng Dahai argued it would be a bad look for Qingquan Stronghold to abandon him. Dengdeng reluctantly agreed to let him join. Dengdeng had planned to rest in Luowu Village before dusk. She anticipated an ambush from Yanhuo Stronghold but was surprised to be met with enthusiastic hospitality instead of a fight. Initially wary, Dengdeng decided to "take things as they come" and accepted their offer.
Gu Beixi grew increasingly suspicious and discreetly questioned one of the Yanhuo Stronghold members, who revealed that a "nicely dressed boss" had paid them to safely escort Dengdeng and her companions to Qianhe Town. Gu Beixi realized it was Lu Yan's doing and told the man not to tell Dengdeng, knowing she would dislike the interference. Upon arriving in Qianhe Town, Dengdeng and Peng Dahai immediately sought a restaurant for a meal.
After eating, they realized their funds were low, as they had reimbursed Gu Beixi for paying off the Yanhuo Stronghold. As they searched for an affordable inn, the shopkeeper of Laifu Hotel enthusiastically greeted them, declaring them the 10,000th lucky customers and offering the town's best accommodation at a very low price. Gu Beixi then appeared, trying to persuade them to go to another, cheaper inn he had found.
However, the Laifu Hotel owner countered by offering free accommodation, three meals a day, and horse care. Dengdeng, surprised by her luck, agreed to stay, assigning Gu Beixi the distant "Number 1 room" while she took "Number 2." The shopkeeper informed her that the room next to hers was already occupied. Upon entering her room, Dengdeng found a plate of glutinous rice cakes, the hotel's specialty, placed there.
Eating them, she couldn't help but think of Lu Yan, recalling his previous attempt to give her his special brown sugar flavored rice cakes. Later, Peng Dahai came to invite Dengdeng out for a stroll, mentioning a lively event happening in Qianhe Town. Dengdeng spotted a ring toss game. Encouraged by Peng Dahai, she displayed exceptional skill, hitting every target, which garnered cheers from onlookers.
Unbeknownst to her, Lu Yan was watching from an upstairs window, his gaze soft and adoring. The stall owner, overwhelmed by her success, offered to buy back the prizes she won with money, solving Dengdeng's financial woes. She beamed excitedly, claiming her "good fortune" and boasting about her skills, calling herself a master of "never missing" and "hitting every target." As Dengdeng and Peng Dahai merrily headed back to the hotel, they encountered a "thief."
With Lu Yan's subtle assistance, they quickly noticed the thief and gave chase, cornering him in an alley. The "thief" turned out to be a spirit clan member, cowering like a frightened deer. Dengdeng, a spirit-hunter whose blood could "ward off monsters of the spirit clan," warned him not to move.
The spirit clan member pleaded for mercy, revealing he was not stealing but was sent by General Yan to give them money, showing the money bag was untouched and contained extra coins. Dengdeng realized this was Lu Yan's doing. The spirit clan member confirmed that the "General Yan" he referred to was Lu Yan, and that all spirit clansmen in the surrounding area, for tens of miles, followed his orders, having been "with them all the way."
He admitted that the free hotel stay and the rigged ring toss game were also part of General Yan's arrangements. Dengdeng, unwilling to accept Lu Yan's help, threw the money back at the spirit clan member and told him to relay to General Yan that she found his tricks childish and wanted him to withdraw his people, warning that she wouldn't be polite if he didn't. Peng Dahai also bragged that his Master was a "well-known top-tier spirit-hunter."
The spirit clan member tearfully pleaded with Dengdeng, explaining that disobeying General Yan would mean death for him and his entire family, then offered to tell them a legend about General Yan.
