Blade King reported to Li Chenzhou that Liu Suifeng had sent Song Mingzhu to buy medicine, expressing concern that Liu Suifeng might be plotting against the gang leader. Li Chenzhou, however, stated that he trusted Liu Suifeng and, though he did not approve of Liu Suifeng's intentions, he could not dissuade him. He instructed Blade King to continue monitoring Liu Suifeng.

Meanwhile, Song Mingzhu urged Liu Suifeng to reconsider taking the medicine, reminding him of the Tang Sect medicine slave's fate, which was described as worse than death. She confessed her fear of never seeing him again. Liu Suifeng, resolute, took the herbal medicine and ordered Song Mingzhu to leave, not wanting her to witness his agony. As the medicine took effect, Liu Suifeng endured intense suffering. Outside, Song Mingzhu listened, heartbroken, vowing never to abandon him.

Observing this, Blade King understood Liu Suifeng's true loyalty: he was refining himself into a medicine slave, risking his own life to save Li Chenzhou. Xiao Qiushui received intelligence that the Wastelanders had entered Daxi. He convened a meeting, revealing that General Wu was returning to the capital, and the Eagle Flute organization, in collusion with the Wastelanders, had bypassed Xianren Pass, smuggling elite enemy troops into Daxi via waterways to plot a scheme.

He rallied the martial artists to protect General Wu, destroy Eagle Flute strongholds, and foil the Waterway's plot, sending a message via carrier pigeon to warn Yan Kuangtu of the general's plight. The assembled martial artists pledged their full support. Concurrently, Xiao Kaiyan, using mercenaries hired by the Long River Waterway Gang, arranged ambushes along General Wu's route. Xiao Qiushui's forces captured some of these individuals, learning of a heavy bounty on General Wu.

Xiao Qiushui then received a secret report that General Wu would stop at the Guanyu Temple near the capital and immediately rushed there to prevent any unforeseen events. General Wu and his subordinates arrived at the Guanyu Temple and respectfully paid tribute to Lord Guan. Deputy General Jiang Yue voiced his apprehension about returning to the capital, suggesting it was a death trap and proposing they instead return to Xianren Pass to lead the fight against the Wastelanders.

General Wu reprimanded him, stressing the importance of upholding imperial decrees and the nation's laws. He argued that defying the emperor would play directly into the hands of court traitors and doom Daxi, making them "condemned for eternity." He then dismissed his subordinates. Alone, General Wu prayed to Lord Guan, lamenting the nation's plight and the presence of traitors. He declared his willingness to die, stating that his life was insignificant compared to the nation's survival.

He offered three wishes: first, for peace and stability, hoping his death would unite the people, eradicate traitors, protect Daxi, and help reclaim their lands; second, that only he be punished, sparing his soldiers and innocent civilians, emphasizing the critical need to hold Xianren Pass; and third, his unwavering commitment to Daxi, even if it meant facing extreme peril.

He sensed Xiao Qiushui's presence and, acknowledging his concern, reiterated his resolve to fulfill his loyalty through death, not for posthumous fame. An imperial messenger arrived, prompting General Wu to depart immediately. Xiao Qiushui watched, helpless, as the general left. Meanwhile, Yan Kuangtu, having received Xiao Qiushui's message, was recuperating in a medical hall. He presented Xiao Xueyu with a new red cloak, which delighted her.

He then feigned a craving for fresh fish, and as Xiao Xueyu left to prepare it, he departed for the temple. Realizing she had been deceived, she returned to find him gone. Yan Kuangtu arrived at the temple, where he encountered and eliminated several ambushers, including martial world scums and Wastelanders hired by the Waterway Gang. " General Wu," who soon arrived, was actually Xiao Kaiyan, disguised using the Thousand Faces technique.

Yan Kuangtu warned him about the dangers in the capital and the assassination plots, urging him to command the nation's forces against the Wastelanders. He offered the Hero Token to "General Wu." "General Wu" accepted the token, then suddenly attacked Yan Kuangtu, revealing his true identity as Xiao Kaiyan. Xiao Kaiyan explained that the real General Wu had been captured by his three foreign kings—Baili Hanting, Qianli Gumei, and Wanli Pingyuan—and that the trap was set for Yan Kuangtu.

Xiao Kaiyan then attempted to absorb Yan Kuangtu's internal energy. Just then, Xiao Xueyu burst in, shielding Yan Kuangtu. She accused Xiao Kaiyan of betraying their parents and ruining the Xiao family, declaring him unworthy of being her brother. Xiao Kaiyan dismissed her, asserting his superiority. He offered to spare Yan Kuangtu if Xiao Xueyu obeyed his commands. To save her brother, Xiao Xueyu reluctantly agreed. Xiao Kaiyan then ordered Yan Kuangtu to be taken away.

Deputy General Jiang Yue reached Xiao Qiushui, confirming that General Wu had been ambushed. General Wu, anticipating this, had instructed Jiang Yue to split from the main group and deliver the military token to Xiao Qiushui. Jiang Yue implored Xiao Qiushui to guard the token and rescue General Wu. Xiao Qiushui accepted the token and arranged for Jiang Yue to rest. Xiao Kaiyan brought Xiao Xueyu to his water fortress, boasting of its grandeur compared to Huanhua.

He tried to entice her with promises of wealth, power, and prestige, but she remained unresponsive. When she demanded to see her brother, Xiao Kaiyan promised frequent visits if she remained compliant, even attempting to adorn her with a hair accessory, which she resisted. Yan Kuangtu was confined in a water prison, his acupoints sealed, guarded by the Three Foreign Kings. Xiao Kaiyan tried again to drain Yan Kuangtu's internal energy but suffered a backlash.

Yan Kuangtu revealed that Xiao Kaiyan, having obtained the Book of Oblivion by dishonorable means, only understood absorption, not circulation, warning that he would "burst" if he continued. Xiao Kaiyan dismissed the warning, leaving the Three Foreign Kings to guard Yan Kuangtu. Later, Xiao Kaiyan brought Xiao Xueyu to see Yan Kuangtu. Yan Kuangtu noted Xiao Kaiyan's increasingly unstable state, predicting his eventual deviation. Frustrated by Yan Kuangtu's defiance, Xiao Kaiyan ordered Xiao Xueyu to persuade him.

When they were alone, Xiao Xueyu whispered that she would find a way to free him. Yan Kuangtu shook his head, telling her not to risk herself, and instead, secretly whispered crucial information about the Book of Oblivion.

Returning to her room, Xiao Xueyu, unable to find writing materials, ingeniously used plant juice to record the fifteen levels of the Book of Oblivion: Heaven Will, Terrain, Sovereign, Kinship, Master's Teachings, Metal Break, Wood Stubborn, Water Flee, Fire Spread, Earth Conceal, Sun's Radiance, Moon's Reflection, Wind Flow, Cloud Veil, and Void of Self. Liu Suifeng went to the Power Gang headquarters to see Li Chenzhou off, offering a toast for his success in the palace and for Daxi.

He intended to drug Li Chenzhou's wine to prevent him from entering the palace. Li Chenzhou, aware of Liu Suifeng's underlying intention, acknowledged his "good intentions." Liu Suifeng then offered a second toast, wishing Li Chenzhou health and longevity and pledging his eternal loyalty.

Before drinking, Li Chenzhou offered his own toast, expressing his hope that Liu Suifeng would, once the current matters concluded, live his own life, free from the Power Gang, from Li Chenzhou's influence, and from past conflicts. Liu Suifeng, after acknowledging this, suddenly felt dizzy. Li Chenzhou revealed that the wine Liu Suifeng had just drunk contained his "true dream" and told him to "sleep tight," having preempted Liu Suifeng's plan.

Liu Suifeng collapsed, trying in vain to warn Li Chenzhou not to go to the palace. Zhao Shirong escorted Li Chenzhou to the outskirts of the capital, where an imperial carriage awaited. She played a sorrowful flute tune, reminiscing about his previous palace visits becoming progressively longer, and expressed her deep concern for his current journey, unsure when he would return. She acknowledged that "things always get harder with time," but added, "it's almost over."

Li Chenzhou reassured her, stating he would "do his best and leave no regrets," then calmly boarded the imperial carriage. Upon regaining consciousness, Liu Suifeng anxiously asked about Li Chenzhou. Song Mingzhu informed him that Li Chenzhou had already entered the palace and that it was too late to pursue him.

Distraught, Liu Suifeng expressed hope that Li Chenzhou could suppress the poison with his internal energy, believing there might be a chance for survival if his heart meridian remained undamaged. Song Mingzhu comforted him, asserting that a solution would be found.
