Since Mai Chenghuan became Yao Zhiming’s secretary, she has been leaving early and returning late every day, working diligently. He Dong advised her not to push herself too hard and to find a balance between work and rest. He suggested she leave work early and even recommended a restaurant with great food and ambiance. However, Mai Chenghuan insisted on leaving only after work. Yao Zhiming noticed everything and warned He Dong not to meddle.

After work, Xin Jialiang came to pick up Mai Chenghuan. She hadn't figured out how to handle their relationship yet and ignored him. Xin Jialiang acted cute and clingy in public, so Mai Chenghuan reluctantly got into the car with him. He took her to see the new house his parents prepared for them. As long as she liked it, they could immediately transfer the ownership to her.

But Mai Chenghuan wanted to buy a house with their own efforts and didn’t want to be influenced by his parents. Xin Jialiang didn’t think much of it. Mai Chenghuan guessed that the house gifted by Xin Zhishan was to curry favor for the hotel bidding event. Xin Jialiang confessed and pleaded with her to put in a good word for him in front of Yao Zhiming, but she was helpless.

Mai Chengzao accidentally discovered that a colleague was helping Xin Jialiang draft a prenuptial agreement. He immediately called his sister to inform her. Xin Jialiang knew nothing about it. Mai Chenghuan was furious and couldn’t believe his parents would use such an agreement to demean her. She stormed off after breaking up with Xin Jialiang. Mai Chenghuan went alone to the Huangpu River to clear her mind.

She recalled Yao Zhiming once reminding her that only the kitchen and garden were her stage in the Xin family. Mai Chengzao, worried about her, came straight to the river after work and gently tried to comfort her. Mai Chenghuan had initially wanted a simple life with Xin Jialiang, but everything was ruined by his family. She vowed to change her fate with her own abilities. Seeing her start to let go, Mai Chengzao was finally relieved.

Liu Wanyu was overjoyed upon hearing the news of Sanhe Lane's demolition. She prepared a large table of dishes to celebrate and called Mai Chenghuan and Mai Chengzao home. She and Mai Laitian planned to buy a big house in Qingpu with the compensation. Mai Chenghuan thought Qingpu was too far and suggested buying a second-hand house in the city center for Mai Chengzao’s convenience. But Liu Wanyu insisted on Qingpu, and Mai Chengzao supported his parents' decision.

Xin Jialiang angrily returned home to confront his mother, Chen Dejing, and found out that it was Xin Jiali’s idea to draft the prenuptial agreement. He vented all his anger on Xin Jiali. When Xin Zhishan came home and learned of the situation, he gave Chen Dejing and Xin Jiali a stern scolding. He had worked hard to use Mai Chenghuan to connect with Yao Zhiming, but now everything was a mess because of them.

Xin Zhishan stormed out in anger. After dinner, Liu Wanyu and Mai Laitian continued discussing the house in Qingpu. Mai Chenghuan didn’t want them living in the suburbs and vowed to work hard and earn enough money so the family could live downtown. Xin Zhishan personally visited Yao Zhiming to build rapport and asked him to give Deshan Furnishings a chance at the bidding event. Yao Zhiming readily agreed and asked Mai Chenghuan to escort him.

Xin Zhishan apologized to Mai Chenghuan about the prenuptial agreement and begged her to speak favorably about Deshan Furnishings. Mai Chenghuan flatly refused to take shortcuts, hoping Deshan Furnishings would win on merit. He Dong overheard the conversation and reported everything to Yao Zhiming. Upon learning that the Xin family had made Mai Chenghuan sign a prenuptial agreement, Yao Zhiming was furious and vowed to expose Deshan Furnishings’ bribery.

He Dong was concerned this might ruin Mai Chenghuan’s future and marriage. Yao Zhiming didn’t want her to marry Xin Jialiang. The bidding event went ahead as scheduled. All furniture companies arrived on time and sent representatives to speak. Xin Jialiang represented Deshan Furnishings on stage. Dennis asked all companies to leave temporarily so the judges could deliberate. Yao Zhiming submitted a rebate record from Deshan Furnishings to Mai Chenghuan. After discussion, the judges chose Tianhe Furnishings.

Xin Zhishan thought victory was assured, but Yao Zhiming exposed a rebate receipt related to Deshan’s 520 promotion gift at a hotel. Xin Jialiang admitted that he had authorized the discount for Mai Chenghuan. Xin Zhishan publicly announced their relationship and accused her of using it to get rebates. Despite Mai Chenghuan’s many explanations, he didn’t believe her. Yao Zhiming quickly stepped in to defend her.

Suddenly, Zhu Baoqiao stood up and accused Mai Chenghuan of leaking the bidding baseline to Tianhe Furnishings. Xin Zhishan believed she and Yao Zhiming had set Xin Jialiang up and forcibly took him away. Mai Chenghuan went to confront Yao Zhiming about the rebate. Yao Zhiming admitted he had already seen it and believed she leaked the baseline.

Mai Chenghuan laid out the entire sequence of events and finally realized Yao Zhiming had been using her to take down the Xin family and oust Dennis. He admitted to it. Mai Chenghuan was heartbroken. She had always thought he cared about her and even accompanied her to see her grandmother, but now she saw it was all a lie.
