Under the watchful gaze of General Yazaki and Sawa Eisaku, Qiao Renyu requested a final meal of apple pie with his sister, Qiao Yinwan. Knowing they were being monitored, Renyu used the domestic setting to communicate through a series of hidden metaphors involving "apple pie," "the church," and "a hidden wall." He reminisced about Yinwan’s seventh year, specifically a game of hide-and-seek on Christmas Eve where she hid in a dark storage room while he sang a nursery rhyme.

This nostalgic chatter was a calculated code that Yinwan immediately deciphered. After ensuring his sister was released and safely escorted to a car, Renyu stood by the window and shouted for her to be proud of him. In a final act of defiance, he used a concealed steak knife to stab General Yazaki before leaping from the window to his death, sacrificing himself to protect both his sister and the secret of the printing paper.

Shattered by her brother’s sacrifice, Yinwan began a public display of mourning to mask her mission. She purchased a violin and visited various locations across Hong Kong that held significance to their past, playing mournful tunes at each stop. Sawa Eisaku, suspicious of her movements, ordered a total investigation into the siblings' history and detained anyone who interacted with her. However, he failed to realize that Yinwan was executing a plan she had previously coordinated with He Xian.

She used her music as a signal; the true location of the banknote paper was not where she was currently playing, but rather fifty meters opposite the stop she had made just prior, a signal triggered only when she played the specific song "Safe Journey." By analyzing her performance near a café on Garden Road, He Xian and his team identified the target: the Japanese Naval Club.

Investigations revealed the building was formerly the Benevolence Orphanage, where the Qiao siblings had lived as children. Renyu had hidden the banknote paper in a concealed wall behind a statue of the Virgin Mary, a secret space he had accidentally discovered as a boy. The mechanism to open the wall was hidden within the statue’s shoe. Meanwhile, Sawa Eisaku made a breakthrough of his own.

By uncovering old records from Queen’s College, he realized that the Qiao parents had died long before the siblings claimed, and that their true guardian was Father Brown. Realizing the childhood stories were a lie designed to hide a secret, Sawa raced toward the club. Under the cover of night, He Xian and his men arrived at the Naval Club disguised as firemen.

They claimed a gas leak was about to cause a massive explosion, forcing the panicked manager to evacuate the building. Inside, the team worked frantically to find the statue and trigger the hidden mechanism. They successfully recovered the crates of banknote paper and loaded them into their disguised fire trucks just as Sawa Eisaku arrived.

To delay the Japanese, the team set straw on fire to create a smokescreen and bluffed their way past the sentries by claiming their extinguishers were empty. By the time Sawa realized the fire was a ruse, the trucks were already heading for the coast. At a secluded point, He Xian met with Ma Wanqi and the local guerrillas to transfer the cargo onto boats.

Despite his poor health, Ma Wanqi had come personally to ensure He Xian could return to Macau in time for his son’s birthday. As the crates were moved, General Yazaki ordered gunboats to pursue them and contacted his agents in Macau to blockade the docks. In the dark waters of the Lingding Channel, a maritime chase began with Master Sanhe’s fleet providing cover as decoys.

While Huang Gongjie’s men waited at the Macau docks to intercept the vessels, Sawa Eisaku realized Yinwan was no longer useful and ordered her immediate arrest. Unaware of the closing net, Yinwan paid her final respects at her brother’s grave, while He Xian’s family in Macau waited by a birthday cake, hoping for a safe return before midnight.
